- In this Excel free tutorial video, we gonna se how to quickly and easily create your own digital monthly budget planner in Excel.
I wanted to create a Monthly Budget Spreadsheet that included my Income, my Fixed Expenses, my Variable Expenses, my Bills etc.
All this informations I'm gonna use inside the same tab in Excel.
Learn how to start a monthly budget with the Excel Personal Monthly Budget template, including projected and actual income and costs, can be a useful skill.
We gonna use the formula to make de Balance and the to make the remaining value.
The function Sum in the Excel is also used in this tutorial.
The SUM function in excel adds the numerical values in a range of cells.
Being categorized under the Math and Trigonometry function, it is entered by typing “=SUM” followed by the values to be summed.
The values supplied to the function can be numbers, cell references or ranges.

This is the best spreadsheet “expense planner” video I have found. It gives very detailed directions. All of the others seem to think that the viewer is already extremely familiar with how excel spreadsheets work. Thank you from a person new to excel who is trying get a clearer view of my financials.
Thank you for being a teacher and not a salesman. There is an undeniable difference. I will donate to you.
Exactly what I needed to get started! You explained very simply and easily for a beginner. I was able to watch on my tablet as I followed along creating my first monthly budget on my computer. Thank you! 🤗

This was better than a previous spreadsheet I done. I love this one the best. I did not add credit card b/c I pay everything with it to get the awards points. I just pay the card off each month. I followed this video better than having all the different pie charts and graphs like the other videos. Plus, I like seeing for the whole year even though I only tracked since aug. I will start 2024 off using this spreadsheet.

Awesome job!!! This was my first time doing a spreadsheet and it was simple thanks to you. I have one question how do I add Owner contribution to spreadsheet, so that it will populate?
Thanks, I realized there should be other source of income of employees, workers, business person's to whatever category belongingness, to whoever Matter or bigger Magog carriers, I learned that from your presented example personal data with many expenses though with improving income, maybe later.
Hello! First of all, you really helped me!
I don't understand a thing about excel and because of you, I made my first spreadsheet and it seemed super simple, all because of your amazing explanation.
I just have one doubt: If i make savings from my paycheck - for example take 200€ from my 400€ paycheck - how do I add it to the spreadsheet?
Thank you so much in advance and much love from Portugal!
Thanks man 😇

You are so amazing
Thank you. 🙏👍
Thanks
Thanks so much, man! I appreciate it.
what could be the reason my SUM formula wont work? i googled and tried to fix it but it still wont work. sorry but im beginner with excel lol! great video!
What an amazing tutorial and a spreadsheet. I only have one question, when it comes on putting your income sources, are you putting them on gross income or net income??? Assuming someone with a regular job and investment or side hustle, for a job it will be tax right away, in short, net income. On the other hand, making an income on investments and side hustle, such as, capital gains and dividends is I consider gross income. Also, it will only be tax on filing season. Which part of the income should I put on the spreadsheet, the gross/pre tax or the net/after taxes to make everything accurate??? Thank you and have a great day.
i would say add the gross income onto the spreadsheet and add TAX as a variable expense obviously most months it will be $0 but when th time comes to pay tax u add it in as an expense, that way u account for everything. It also makes sense to add the gross income as that will be the amount u hold until u pay tax, so in simple terms just count the TAX as an expense.
Great video would love to know how you put in budget bs actual
Good question. I gonna make a better video about this subject. A 2.0 spreadsheet version. I gonna make some improvements! Thanks 🙏👍
It was a little more difficult for me since I am using OpenOffice which has different buttons and some are missing (since it is free). I would rather use Excell but there is no free version. I have a question. How do you set up to add to your variable expenses as you go. So if each day I have different amounts to add to one or more of the expenses, how can I add to the expense without calculating it myself? Can you create a second page or something where you just something like "food" where you type in a new value and it adds to the old value during the same month?
Brian, thank you very much for the question. Your question is really good.
Maybe, what can you do is, let's say you are in the January month, and in case you had many expenses during this month, you can, within the same cell, add the amounts spent on food, for example: = 9.90+20.00+10.00...
But, the ideal would be to create a "daily" instead of a "monthly" one, this way, each spreadsheet would have a month, there would be a spreadsheet for the January, another for February and so on.
And in each column, you would have a day. First day, second day, third day etc.
I will create a new spreadsheet to be able to better meet this demand, your question is really valid, thank you.
Thanks - this is very helpful! Very well explained. But although I followed you carefully I was not able to click-hold-drag to get the formula to repeat for each month. Is there a trick that I am missing?! thanks
I'm glad it was useful for you, Cath! 🙏👍
Look, if the "hold drag down" isn't working, you can try copie and past instead. Ctrl C and Ctrl V.
Ctrl C the cell with the formula, select the rest of the cells where you need to input the same function and then Ctrl V.
I reckon this can solve your problem.
Thank you very much @@JopaExcel - this was exactly the trick I needed! I appreciate you taking the time to help. Great video!

Yes
Is the template available?
How we handle the invoices. Example: when paid invoices how will update the budget. So do we have to get separate spreadsheet for invoices tracker? but how it will update the budget in a dynamic way?
You have to make a separate spreadsheet for the tracking of the expenses. And don't confuse both of them, because an expense tracker tracks down all your expenses. Budgets are only planned expenses and not real expenses. They are made to give any idea of what you are going to spend. If you have made the two sheets, you can compare them and see if you have spent too much or if you have money left.

Thanks, man! 🙏👍
This would be much better if the file you are working on could be downloaded so we can follow along.
I like this alot but wish it had a transaction page to work with it😊
Eric, thanks for the feedback. I'm always bringing new videos. I will bring new updates with this suggestion. Thanks!
@@JopaExcel First off, great video. I would also like to see the transaction page video as well!
@@JopaExcel Also want to say thanks for the great video, if you have made a transactions video to go along with this one, can you link it? Thanks
If i create a table of income and expense in worksheet 1 and within each of the income and expense i have a lot of sub-category expenses/income like laptop, income, supplies, etc. then in worksheet 2 i use data validation to categorize my income and expenses by their sub-category . How do I add the monthly total of the sub-category in worksheet 3?
Example:
01/01/24: supplies $10.00
01/02/24: revenue $100
01/02/24: meal $10.00
01/03/24: meal $10.00
So for month Jan my total meal is $20, how would i be able to create a formula in worksheet 3 to have the sum total of meal for jan?
Could you do this in googlesheets please.
Hey, Renee! I just made it, ruclips.net/video/rshalHvhrlY/видео.html. I saw your comment a couple days ago and here it's, the spreadsheet for GoogleSheets. 🙏👍
Thank you
can you share the template
I can yes…. It’s £50 and it’s all yours! :)
