    This is a miracle. I would consider this the first successful budget I have ever made, and it's so cool it's literally bringing excitement to this process. A few hiccups at first but watching the other videos I figured it out. I cannot thank you enough for creating this video. This is something I have been working on for years. I am finally feeling empowered financially and am excited to show my father this budget, he has been teaching me how to budget. This is life changing and I'm very grateful - thank you for making it so simple... I am quite confident if I can do this, anyone can!

      @@asiamateo9035Hi, before I watch this video, I'm curious, does he describe how to use excel formulas to calculate what to pay, and when, based on your income? I need something that can say "this bill is $100 but there's only 80 in the acct. So let's pay x amount next week". If I had something like that then I would be good, but there's so many of these budgeting apps I don't have time to sort through them all.

    This was absolutely amazing. I have been trying to find ways to balance myself to try and reach money goal. This lesson had me feeling like if I could get this to an advanced level, not only could I reach my goals but I could also use this the better myself in the work field. Not over explaining or boring you unnecessary fluff. Being able to open excel and follow step by step was key in the continuation of this. As a busy person who had failed many times in the college money hole, this video saved me so much time and expenses that. I couldn't wait to get home from work today and finish my spreadsheet! 👏🏿🙌🏿👏🏿🙌🏿👏🏿

    Quick tip: If there are values you're using over and over that are likely to change in the future, make them super easy to change. Like those budget categories, budget amount, or starting balance, you can reference a column or cell to set those values up instead of manually typing it. Changing those later (especially the categories) the way it's done here could be a huge pain to do without overwriting what you've already entered. I'd recommend setting up a sheet strictly for settings and putting all of your values there. That way, changing the values in that settings sheet will change them correctly across the entire budget without breaking it.

    • @NoirMorter
      @NoirMorter Год назад +6

      I prefer doing a second tab and labeling what the value is by note or cell, then linking to the cell with the actual value. It makes it easier to update over time such as budget amounts per category.

    Loved you video. I haven’t found a budgeting app that I absolutely love so making my own seems like the obvious choice. Please consider making 2 additional types of videos:
    1- I’d like to use my phone to keep track of my budget since it’s always with me. I’m planning on trying to access excel through an app on my phone. But a video about that would be beneficial.
    2. I’m completely excel illiterate. I’m planning on watching and rewatching your video to put together my budget. But an ‘excel budget for dummies’ video would be nice. That way the formulas can be done a bit slower and maybe explained more. They kinda went over my head. Thanks again

    I learned about the use of Data Bars under conditional formatting. I was also able to tweak your example by putting in a second sheet that had the budgeted amounts for each category and then point the upper value of the conditional formatting to budgeted amount for the category rather than typing in the actual amount in the conditional formatting rule. What that does is that it makes it easier to change the budgeted amount.
    I now need to work on a graphical presentation that shows what percentage of what each category's budget is being used.
    Thanks for this video.

    Before commenting it is apt that I say 'thank you!' for your effort.
    I guess I'll have to go through it again and and again as it was way too fast for a novice like me as I approached the middle of the lesson.
    Thanks once more, and it was what I needed, and it detailed, as well as free!

      @@whyworksmarternotharder hello; this is so nice. have a question though: @2:33 and @4:03 you say to desleect the header, and top two lines(respectively) but no matter what i do it deselects the entirety of the column and im not sure what to do. If i continue to proceed to ctrl+v in the sceond example it doubles the first line(debit as in the example you give) and places it in the header space.
