@@merdufer That totally killed it for me -- there is nothing that Nolan did for Mark that is defensible. Why would Mark hold any hope for a person that's murdered every single entity that's stood in his way and then literally punched his son through cities, forcing him to murder people along the way? If anything, his character should be enraged about what Omni-Man did to Mark's mother and pull no punches. Nolan is a piece of shit. Him smiling because Mark got a hit in little league doesn't translate to forgiveness over being held up to a subway train as a weapon that's responsible for dozens of deaths.
I get that children of abuse often forgive their parental abusers to their detriment, but I don't think that was the point of this scene. Mark should have punched Nolan into the fucking sun. However, if the point is to deal with how abusive parents basically con 'loved ones' into falling for their BS, this show missed the mark. The relationship between Nolan and Mark needed a lot more exploration, and then Debbie being a part of it...the whole first season should have just been that theme, in my opinion.

I feel so bad for Debbie. Imagine your husband of 20 years says your life is meaningless and you are a pet to him, all while almost killing you son. She is strong as hell
Somewhat resigned to depression, but nevertheless stromg, resilient, and encouraging. Debbie is a great character. I just wish the show had more interactions between Mark and Debbie.

TBH I don't even think Nolan ment it, i'm 100% sure actually.
We see it in the Flashback that he softened up during his time on earth. In fact, his Love was so strong that in the end he rather abandoned his Mission than kill his son, and he was crying while flying off. As Allen said, this NEVER happened before in an Empire that is several thousand years old, not once.
Nolan said all that not only to talk Mark into his side, but to talk him into this aswell at that point.
Think about it, if Debbie was really this meaningless to him, he would've killed her the Moment he learned she knew that he killed the Guardians. Because at that point she became a major risk.
I love Debbie, she is such a strong lady.
@@CedricBassman It's worth remembering that Nolan seemed to be completely certain that he'd fooled Cecil, leaving only Debbie and Art as potential loose ends. The vicious utilitarian Viltrumite move at that point would definitely have been to kill them both immediately, and the fact he didn't do that is very interesting.

Seeing Jay cry IMMEDIATELY gets me teary. That "I would have you, Dad" scene hurt me the first time, but seeing Jay get upset and Adam comfort his buddy is just so wholesome.
It's time to see how many "HOLY FUCK" faces Jay and Adam can make during this episode.

The buffet analogy is perfect. It's like the people writing the show are just insane buffet chefs rolling out tray after tray of delicious plot treats and going "Yes, yes. Consume it all you gluttonous heathens! Consume!"
And then after each episode you need a nap. Because your eyes were of course too big for your stomach, or in this case, brain.
This episode really beat me down (in a WTF is happening way). That train scene will stick with me forever.
The train scene was inspired and terrifying.
It honestly made me feel like I was wearing down and breaking the longer the fight went. You just start wanting it to END but Mark just WON'T. STOP. GETTING. UP.

Atom Eve actually makes sense as a love interest now. She controls things down to the molecular structure ergo she can theoretically extend her own life by reconstructing her own body and effectively age like a viltrumite.

I started reading the series after watching the first 2 episodes and finished it up the past weekend. Without spoilers, all I can say is that the whole "Nolan is secretly evil" is honestly not even in the top 5 WTF moments/awesome twists in the series.

Man, having read the comics this was everything I wanted and more. Brought some of my favorite comic pages to life “You Dad.. I’d still have you” destroyed me once again through a new medium. That train scene was absolutely fucked, I was going in expecting mass murder but holy shit that was another level of brutal. Love your reaction to seeing that certain someone during the viltrum sequence, I was the exact same

The emotion and pain this episode was off the charts. I kind of wished this was how Man of Steel was viewed. Like...UNIMAGINABLE CHAOS, EVERYONE DEAD, mental trauma not just for the civilians, but the hero as well! I don't imagine Mark getting rid of those sights any time soon.
Also I didn't think I'd get so emotional from just four words from Mark. Despite everything, he still loves his dad and wants to believe that he's a good person. And during this entire fight, he's willing to throw his life on that belief.
10/10 finale for me.
Well they did touch on this aftereffect in Batman V Superman but audiences didn't like it. It was too dark. This kind of stuff isn't for mainstream audiences.
@@aishaarshadalam3412 That’s not necessarily true. Mainstream audiences didn’t like Superman being dark. Because Superman is supposed to be a symbol of hope. But mainstream audiences are pretty much okay with Batman being dark.
Insane finale. They managed to top the comics with the added details and scenes to the fight between Mark and Nolan.

Season One has only touched on about 20 issues out of 144. So there is enough material for seven season. Eight seasons if they visit the stuff they cut out.
And I think the cameo Adam was talking about was a character whose name starts with ..."C" and we'll still have to meet..."A" and finally "T"

I couldn't sleep so I stayed up to watch the episode when it released last night, and all I could think after the train scene was about how you guys were gonna react to it.
Nolan is hundreds or thousands of years old. He's only been on Earth for 20 years or more. Humanity did have an impact on Nolan but that Viltrumite programming is behind a lot of Nolan's atrocities.
Programming he really bought into, the pride he had at being one of the few selected to go on the mission to earth
Knowing that Adam read the comics, i was excited to see his reaction to the train scene.
As someone who has also read the comics, seeing all of Adam's little looks, reactions, and glances towards Jay was hilarious. I'm glad that the show gained so much popularity because there is so much more to come that I'm dying to see animated!
I found this channel because of Invincible, not the other way around. Nobody I knew was watching it, and I needed a vent after that first episode. I’m pretty sure I’ve watched every video y’all have released since then too.

I started crying when Mark said "You, Dad. I'd still have you." - Mark may not be invincible, but his spirit, determination, and strength of character certainly are. Can't believe we have to wait a year or more for S2.

also yeah Amber shouldn't just waltz back in like she didn't give Mark the cold shoulder for trying to balance his love life and protecting innocent people, you can't just sweep that under the rug. Didn't really approve. Like how I was iffy about the Maulers going back to prison (they could easily just point the finger at Robot as well at this point so they should have leverage) while Spenser makes a zombie cyborg army for Cecil with a freshly intact jaw
but looking forward to Season 2
This shit hit me in the feels...and I never have feels...That last bit of dialogue between them wrecked me. "You, dad...I'll have you." That line literally was the biggest blow Mark got on Omni and it wasn't even physical...
This single changed Invincible from a good show to an incredible show. I was at the end of the seat the entire time

This episode's getting 9/10 Chicken-Pot-Pies. Love how they brought the Mauler twins right back to the same prison guard that introduced the iconic food to the comic. Adam should really try one. I can't believe he's read the comics, but hasn't tried chicken-pot-pie. :D

I have to tell you both that I enjoyed you so much during the Captain American and the Winter Soldier reviews that you made me watch Invincible. After watching the final episode I came over to your channel to watch your review. I laughed out LOUD when you both reacted to Amber showing up at Invincible's door!! Nolan's "do you know how long we live, so everything/everyone on a place like Earth is meaningless" excuse falls flat on its face when you realize The Immortal is basically prehistoric yet still values and wants to protect the planet.
Well....spoilers prevents me from saying much but.... Immortality or near Immortality affects everyone...
I will say, this gives me an all-new appreciation for Superman. Everything that Nolan says about himself relative to humanity applies to Clark as well, but while Clark acknowledges his physical superiority to humans, he *never* sees himself as being *morally* superior to ordinary people, or being inherently more valuable than them. If anything, Clark sees human fragility - relative to himself- as making them all the more precious. He loves when humans are brave, because they take so much more risk than he does, like when John Henry Irons almost died trying to save another construction worker.
Clark would kick seven different colors of shit out of Nolan for what he did here, and it's why Superman stands above all imitators.

The entire fight between Mark and Omni-man felt like the man of steel fight if they focused on the massive amount of Humans dying.

omg Adam! good observation! those coffered curved ceilings are definitely DC Metro-esque, but then after that it sorta just looks like any generic subway... I suppose it was composite artistic move... love this series. Kirkman truly is a legend.

Just a shirt FYI at 9:10 New York City does have its own underground train system. It's called the MTA. It also goes above the surface. Its a very large system that covers almost the entire city (with the exception of staten island.)

Something I caught on my second watch was that Omniman actually stopped the train massacre early. If you watch the animation when Marks is gasping and in emotional pain Omniman looks down for a quick moment and then decides to fly up. I know it is a small thing but it was another nod to the caring father inside (even if it is a VERY tiny part of him). It is nuts to think Nolan is the nicest Viltrimite there is.
It's funny cuz everyone's interpreting Nolan calling Debbie a pet as in being some sort of lesser being he doesn't love.
It's more about how you love your dog, but it probably won't live longer than 1/4 of your life. That's what I got from that.
Yeah it's like, a lesser being that you love but you have a limited attachment to bc you know they'll die before you so you can't care that much for your own sanity's sake
