Nice! Just to fine tune things. You don’t have to wait for the diamonds to be centred to select the approach mode. While they’re busy moving towards the centre you can already push the APP button which while arm the approach mode and will activate automatically. With the approach mode armed, before the approach captures, you can also already select the second autopilot. Also to help the speed not getting close to stall. When you select flaps… put the speed bug on the same flap number on the airspeed indicator. So flap 1… Speed 1. Flap 2… Speed 2
Yes good points on the Cat3 and approach mode. Approach mode always used to be slightly confusing to me until it was described thus: Approach mode NOTHING to do with lateral guidance. All you are doing by selecting it is telling the Auto Pilot that it must now intercept the glide path/slope and ignore alt bugs. If you remember that - much less scary selecting it when you bit behind the curve. Essentially select it any time you are established on the approach and under the glideslope ie before glideslope intercept - AP's generally do not intercept from above the glideslope. I now select approach mode as I turn onto final and in the case of ILS intercepts even before the turn onto final as this leaves less things to do as I sort speed and flaps before intercept.
Hello? Help me? I do the flight plan well, I select the ils and everything, I put the ils of KELP (the airport) which is 111.50, I activate it, I put the course which is 222 and when I am in the approach I turn on the APP and the two autopilots and no It does nothing, it doesn't go up or down, the diamond stays at the first point, it doesn't go down. Is it because I'm too tall? I think my mistake is that I forgot to set the heading or the course on the copilot panel.
I just bought the PMDG 800 after owning the 600. What an amazing plane, it really is the best in the game. There are many great planes, but for airliners this is a notch above.
This video is so useful! Thanks for never failing to teach people who are unsure about how to fly this beautiful plane. It’ll be great when the Livery Packs release for the PMDG 737-800!
@@Pilot0083 my friend I’m still a little confused about programming a flight, it’s a little complicated but I’m going to practice, I bought the 737-800 on release night and it’s nothing short of amazing! It should be mentioned that this requires an airport that supports Cat III landings. Not all of them do. It took me a while to figure out why it worked some times and not others.
U only need the to punch the ils and course into both auto pilots If u want the plane to do cat3 autoland if u leave it the way its planed if u select a ils approach it will still follow it it just won't auto land 👍

Thanks for the video. As a beginner though, i could have really done with a zoom in on the FMC. I have no idea what you were looking at and where you got the frequency from.
Let’s say you’re making a quick decision and the approach isn’t programmed. Can you just tune to the ILS frequency and force the autopilot / Flight Director to nav using the LOC instead of GPS? You can do that easily on GA airplanes without worrying about timing button presses so carefully
Nice vid just a public note. Using the two autopilots is really for doing an auto land but its good to use if u cant keep the plane straight on final approach yet yourself. 💯🙏🏽
@@Pilot0083 YES. So in simpler terms Auto A only flies the glideslope so u will have to disconnect and land the plane yourself nearer to the runway. Auto A and B the plane flies the glideslope and lands itself.
Anyone tell me why the diamond is not coming up for me? Freq keyed and active, course set but i dont see any diamond until i actually click the approach. I have to guess when to hit approach.

No liveries this week: from their forum: Liveries is not coming on next update. The first liveries that would release would be for the DC6 and then the 737, and we have not even started testing them on the DC6. Why didn’t they just ship it with a few 😡😡 Justflight nailed it with the package with liveries
Not sure why but flying 737 max is ok till landing. I tried so many things and by the end of the flight the engine are full power Evan if everything is off. Airbus I have no problems but all Boeing yes. What I can do?
I just asked the same question. I think it has something to do with the airplane not being able to hold the airspeed selected because of the current configuration. He wanted to slow down in the descent, so he reduced the airspeed. That’s when he got the blinking number. As soon as he deployed the spoilers, the blinking stopped because now the plane was capable of reaching his selected airspeed. That’s my guess at least. Lol.
@@Pilot0083 in what sense is it the same airport? yesterday I must have made 4 flights, the last one the ILS hooked up, but the plane was not aligned with the runway, it was going wrong, where am I wrong? and yet I follow all the procedures, I enter the degrees of the landing strip, the ILS frequencies, maybe I'm wrong about the altitude?
@@Pilot0083 now I have simulated a flight from Malpensa to Lisbon, I arrive for the landing phase, the diamond aligns, but the plane does not descend, it remains at 3000
@@Pilot0083 As far as I remember, the A310 auto traction turns off automatically when you touch the strip. And on a Boeing, it seems that before touching, you need to turn off and transfer the ores to low gas. If the auto traction is not turned off, they can interfere with the transfer of ores to low gas. Maybe I'm wrong...
Auto throttle is normally turned off at the same time as the autopilot during manual landings. Or here it was an automatic landing, and in this case the system is designed to retard the throttle at 27ft RA, and will disconnect by itself 2 sec after touchdown.
Clear your rolling cache before launching into the sim seems to fix it I have the same problem with other aircraft as well like the c160 not just the 737
