I love it, and have it on dvd. However on a 65 inch 4k tv that looks awfull, is there a bluray or uhd bluray of this recording ?

My wife and I were at the event in 2006. Christine Schäfer absolutely stole the show and the gasps in the audience were palpable. In person, it was unbelievably compelling. The complete upstaging of Anna Netrebko was the talk of the Salzburg Festspiele for quite a few days.
You and your wife are sooo lucky to have been there! I've watched this opera so many times. I think the entire cast is excellent. So much about this production is just incredibly special.
I remember when you could go to public performances. I miss those days.

Loved the staging and the soprano.
One of the greatest ever on this role
Wonderful interpretation (it has an almost tangible innocence, is very pure and never over complicating) and the timbre of her voice suits this Aria perfectly. Just wonderful. I think Mozart would be delighted.
At the end, if you watch carefully, you'll notice a slight smile on D.R.'s face and a very subtle start of what could be a smile at C.S.'s face (just after zooming in). But she stays in her role.
I revisit this video so now and then. Actually just before D.R.'s smile, A.N. is saying something )

Exceptional !! For the first, I believe in !!! First time !!!
Much prefer this tempo to the usual clipped pace that most modern productions tend to employ. As a mezzo, this piece just blooms and naturally flows in a way that is hard to achieve with a faster tempo. For example, the phrasing & syllabic emphasis on "donna vedete"- you want to naturally accent the syllable that is the higher note. But it should be the the syllable before it accented in the word- this happens much more naturally when you slow the tempo a bit. And the phrasing comes easier. The legato is easier to achieve. I also love this characterization that's partially a result of the slowed tempo- instead of this fidgety, sexually frustrated portrayal we usually see- this Cherubino savors every word & note with fervor and longing. It feels slightly more mature, & the piece comes off as more nuanced. And I think that's an overall benefit since we only get the two arias from him. Absolutely wonderful & unique. However, it is absolutely sacrilege to cast a soprano in this role, sorry lol.

Great singing but terrible choice of sets, not sure what the stage director is trying to show, very distracting.

Wonderful singing but the staging, especially with the figure with wings is very distracting. This was the year that the Saltzburg Festival performed all of Mozart's operas in honor of his 250th birthday (1756-1791).
Schäfer is an excellent singer, but it’s a pointlessly weird production.

The staging is horrible.
The singing is about as poor as the production. Look for Simionato for a true performance.
