I don't know much about opera but I came here to listen to the Flower Duet which I heard in the excellent Van Gogh exhibit that came to my city. The Flower Duet brings tears to my eyes it is SO beautiful. Thank you. :)
i don't mean to downplay, but this was not a good flower duet. Try Sabine Devieilhe & Marianne Crebassa or old school perfection with Joan Sutherland & Huguette Tourangeau. You will notice a difference
@@jefferymcgregor6371 So I tried Sabine Devieilhe & Marianne Crebassa and I saw two indeed great singers, each singing their part of a duet that never became a duet. Joan Sutherland & Huguette Tourangeau do sing a duet and they have great voices..for me to powerful for a Delibes song. I prever Sutherland singing with Pavarotti the Verdi - Messa da Requiem. For Delibes flowerduet are Simone Kermes and Vivica Genaux a very good choice, they way they perform -important for a life registration- goes very well with the music and most important: they are singing together while Sabine Devieilhe & Marianne Crebassa are only accidently at the same place. So I did notice the difference and I don't mean to downplay your remarks but try to understand what it means to sing a duet and moreover to sing Delibes who was composing light comic operettes. Sabine Devieilhe & Marianne Crebassa are singing something very serious while Simone Kermes and Vivica Genaux are singing Delibes.
That "Queen of the Night" aria is so powerful - forget about any young people's game about love or romanticism - EVERYONE as felt this in their life. The difficult notes are not just for show, they highlight everything - this is my feeling after hearing this together with the performances - it's the intensity I expect with the subject matter. Only this time around it's made physically apparent - not just in my mind - truly remarkable ;)

Tina Williams, Hi from California, Tina! Your words resonated with me, as I used to be taken to the Vienna "Volksoper" many times by my mum. I'll be forever grateful to her. She also introduced me to ballet, and I became one totally dedicated "balletomane". By then we lived in New York City, and I'd be zipping from one theatre to another, living along every step. I even got to attend ABT (American Ballet Theatre) ballet school. (For the fun, I was an adult by then). As a child, I used to sing along with operettas and also love waltzes, and music has accompanied by like a beloved friend all these years. I am transported into highest spiritual spheres by it and was fortunate to introduce friends (and my pets), to all these great gifts we've been given. When I sang to my kitty, "Maghira", he would purr loudly and drool! Greetings to you and many good wishes, dear fellow music lover!
Lovely collection. These are all familiar to me, appearing in commercials or movies, with the Flower Duet being my favorite but, the Donizetti piece is so recognizable from the 5th Element's Diva Dance

If you enjoyed it, I'd highly recommend Cristina Deutekom with der Hölle Rache. She's a beast and does it incredibly effortless!
Valentina Nafornita and Gianni Schicchi were sublime.
Thanks, Pavarotti. You are the best ever. Rest in peace.
Heard these 2 arias many times but these were the best (use headphones)
The way Valentina Nafornite sings her part in "O mio babbino caro" is magical, divine, it evokes happiness and flight of the soul.
But it's not a happy 'aria'
No, very common. Carmen Monarcha and Amira willighagen much better.
She does such an impressive portrayal of the manipulative, willful daughter. She taunts her father. Stunning performance.
These are all so beautiful. Thank you, RUclips for your weird algorithm and introducing me to something I never thought I would enjoy!
A very beautiful compilation. Anyone falls in love with opera. Simply divine! Thank you
The Flower Duet at 16:20 is one one of the most gorgeous things I've ever heard.
Die Sopranistin singt wunderschön.
@@marliesrabisch784 Ja, tut sie
Is this the aria in Shawshank Redemption?
@@keithad6485 Nope. That would be Maria Callas singing Sull 'Aria from Mozart's Marriage of Figaro.
Thanks for the info. Thanks @@jeromepudwill
The most beautiful and amazing instrument ever. The human voice
I was 12 years old when first introduced to classical music and it still moves me to tears Madama Butterfly, Flower song, all so beautiful. I was lucky to see La Travatia in Cairo ,. I listenened to it on my phone. while gardening.. thank you from Australia.
That Flower Duet is gorgeous. And that Pavarotti..
Since the request to refrain from going out has been issued in Tokyo ,
it's a great pleasure to listen to these incomparable singing voices at home

Gee, what a magnificent montage of the well-known opera arias! An ideal project to use for the basic opera introduction to youngsters. The English subtitles convey a stronger meaning of the beauty of what opera is to the listener. KUDOS to the editors, video cameraman, the selected opera singers and the orchestra!
Introduction to 58 year olds also.
OMG - This beautiful being is melting my heart into opera!!!
the flower duet is so amazing wow what talented vocalists such a great piece!
Queen of the Night Aria from Diana Damrau will forever be ICONIC for me. Kudos to all performance here
Just like Pavarotti owns Nessun Dorma, Diana owns Queen of the Night and she indeed a QUEEN
@@harukanakamoto7 Paul Potts has +190 million views on his Nessun Dorma and left even the great Pavarotti behind in the dust. And Diana is a one trick pony.
@@harukanakamoto7 You might also give the Anna Netrebko/Elina Garanca version a listen:

Proprio splendido.
Grazie.
It's marvelous to have an opportunity to see and listen, so many stars in this, one session. Thanks
100 % correct, the world needs such grace.
I've heard these arias at least a thousand times each over the long years of my life, but at least half of them still move me to tears
The Queen of the Night! How can a human voice do that? Thank you for the English subtitles too.
It's masterpiece. Specially now, when is so cool tribal howl.
I agree, I've seen a lot of versions of this aria and I have to say this particular vocalist struggled the most.
Yes and the best part is that Diane Damrau does an even better job.
You should check out the dolls aria it’s just as crazy.😊
@@danielm.2377 struggled?
The mother figure in magic flute clip was best acting I’ve seen best version and made more sense to me! Love all of these!
OMG that "Lascia ch'io pianga" was more than sublime, and then everything else. Truly it is a blessing to be born in 1984... That means being able to easily enjoy all these performances, whit unprecedented audio quality all the way from the recording up to the release. Thanks for this awesome share!!!!
Also, thanks for those 4:3 performances shown - no matter how long the performances were recorded, the quality and "soul" of the performances can withstand differences in cultural "present-day" sensibilities. Yet they are a testament to the original compositions and writing :how many decades and centuries after they were composed we can still connect and relate? Countless is my impression!
Potessi andare a teatro.

Beautiful. My soul rises with each note. The artists are the world's best.
Not often I complain about clips being too short 😂 thank you
Una selección exquisita, con interpretaciones altamente virtuosas. Muchas gracias por su buen gusto.
Wonderful selection of the most famous arias with the best opera singers
A wonderful selection! These songs cling to the living. Thank you for the vivid emotions that I experienced listening to these pearls of music!
Me encanto.merci. thank you very much. Glad to see a Juan a great Peruvian tenor from my country Peru.
I don't know much about opera but I came here to listen to the Flower Duet which I heard in the excellent Van Gogh exhibit that came to my city. The Flower Duet brings tears to my eyes it is SO beautiful. Thank you. :)
Nicely said. The Flower Duet takes you to a beautiful place you have never been and never want to leave.
i don't mean to downplay, but this was not a good flower duet.
Extraordinarily beautiful voices...
I learned a lot about operas from my grandmother in Germany, we went to the state opera, I love Ballet and my most favorite opera and Maestro G Verdi ❤️
Tina Williams, Hi from California, Tina! Your words resonated with me, as I used to be
taken to the Vienna "Volksoper" many times by my mum. I'll be forever grateful to her.
She also introduced me to ballet, and I became one totally dedicated "balletomane". By
then we lived in New York City, and I'd be zipping from one theatre to another, living along every step.
The first piece was beyond beautiful. Thanks for sharing (:
