This is SUCH a helpful video. I always wondered why my images looked so flat and boring even when I did play with contrast and lighting. I wanted to elevate my shots and really didn’t know how until this video!
Thank you so much I’m really glad you got something out of it! If you ever have more questions just let me know and I’d be more than willing to help you out!
Watched this video a couple of days ago, never subscribed but told myself I needed to. It's now 2 days later and I realized you only have 335 subs ,wtf??
You're a great gaffer! I'm a Director and learning more about lighting, cinematography etc and this video was great. (Also learning to def hire a BTS videographer/photographer on my projects ha) good stuff. Subscribed.
Thank you so much dude that means a lot🙏🏼 BTS photo and video saves lives😂 I usually just do it so that I can look back on it later in life and remember how much fun I had
A video that I find very interesting, with good examples, thansk ! Still, many recent scenes remove a lot of light. Certainly a very interesting artistic approach... but with a normal TV or projector, you can no longer see anything! I came to really fear nighttime or dark scenes. :-)
You mentioned shooting neutral white balance on set and coloring in post. I'm struggling with that now because I want good color separation but I'm afraid to botch the lighting and not be able to correct it in post.
Very valid. I feel like for me lighting takes a top priority. I would try a take with the best possible lighting you can do, because colours can always be manipulated. If that doesn’t work out and it’s just not getting you to where you want it, I would do a second take just tweaking the settings and colour temp to get as close as possible to pure white. Thanks so much for the comment tho! If you have any further questions feel free to send me a message on Instagram or shoot me an email!
Great video, but for the love of god; this whole trend of holding giant studio microphones in your hand that are supposed to be on some sort of stand, looks ridiculous. Again, great video though.
@@Made4Filmmakers To be honest, I'm not shocked at all and that's not the point of the video. If it was the quickest and easiest way to get decent sound, I think it is great. What I find ridiculous is the way in which this remark is made, a little brutal, even impolite. But hey, you have to please as many people as possible. If having a stand for your microphone allows you to have more viewers, I imagine that it's not the kind of thing you resist.

MORE OF THIS! I really struggle with lighting, and this video is definitely one I'll be revisiting the next time I need to worry about cinematography.
Thank you so much I really appreciate that!

Very true! There definitely needs to be a balance or else you’ll ruin your shot completely
