Hey man loving these videos, how do I start on color grading? I use davinci resolve as well.
Hey thanks so much! You’re off to a great start by using DaVinci😂 first you have to learn the basics of colour balancing and how the node systems work, and from there it’s basically just creativity! I’m still not a master at it, but I can definitely send some links to videos that have helped me in the beginning!

Thank you! Yeah I just key framed out the inside of the mirror and tracked it with the other clip. So the shot of the mirror was basically empty in the middle, and I filled it with the shot of me!

A video that I find very interesting, with good examples, thansk ! Still, many recent scenes remove a lot of light. Certainly a very interesting artistic approach... but with a normal TV or projector, you can no longer see anything! I came to really fear nighttime or dark scenes. :-)

Wow, such a constructive topic... You want a real advice on how to gain awards with a film? Do whatever the hell you want, you could film your butthole for 35 minutes and still be sure you'll get awards, there are like 10 million film festivals on Filmfreeway and whatnot - most of them are "online" or "monthly" - and there is one for absolutely ANYTHING. I know deeply, deeply incompetent filmmakers who have no clue what they're doing but got at least 10 awards on their last short film. Don't follow advices from someone who says he can help you get awards, seriously...

You mentioned shooting neutral white balance on set and coloring in post. I'm struggling with that now because I want good color separation but I'm afraid to botch the lighting and not be able to correct it in post.
Very valid. I feel like for me lighting takes a top priority. I would try a take with the best possible lighting you can do, because colours can always be manipulated. If that doesn’t work out and it’s just not getting you to where you want it, I would do a second take just tweaking the settings and colour temp to get as close as possible to pure white. @@Made4Filmmakers To be honest, I'm not shocked at all and that's not the point of the video. If it was the quickest and easiest way to get decent sound, I think it is great. What I find ridiculous is the way in which this remark is made, a little brutal, even impolite. But hey, you have to please as many people as possible. If having a stand for your microphone allows you to have more viewers, I imagine that it's not the kind of thing you resist.
This is SUCH a helpful video. I always wondered why my images looked so flat and boring even when I did play with contrast and lighting. I wanted to elevate my shots and really didn’t know how until this video!
