I was struggling all morning with this sonata and when I decide to take a break and go to the PC the first thing that appears to me is this video. Just released! Its haunts me!!! Excelent rendition!! Back to study....
As a pianist myself, I feel most comfortable pedaling without shoes, and IF I were a professional, I wouldn’t hesitate to do so on stage. It’s about producing the right sound for the music. I love watching your hands, showing your absolute mastery of the keyboard - and so joyful 😄🎹
After 35 years playing music, youre the first musician that made me realize that tempo is only a guide for a more emotional interpretation the whole movement. I can hear that you grok the whole piece on an emotional level and play it as a single flow of emotion around the tempo....if that makes any sense. Youre the only classical musician that makes me feel like I am going back in time and feeling what the composer felt in the flow of physical motions and how the music is suppose to be played
If Valentina was playing this in my kitchen, I would have created a masterpiece of a meal. Greek salad with Calamata olives, golden roasted pork, rice, fried potatoes, leg of lamb with garlic and spices, sliced carrots with honey glaze and more. This is what this music tastes like.
Браво Валентина!!! Раньше я изумлялся Вашими руками теперь вижу, что и ноги ( во всяком случае одна) тоже восхитительны! Ну и музыка выше всяких похвал!!!
Tremendous playing Valentina! This is the best thing I've seen and heard on the TV this Christmas. At last a performance of this unjustly neglected sonata on RUclips that is worthy of the name. There's hardly any of this Sonata on RUclips. These early sonatas are always overlooked in favour of the later ones. This is a big mistake on the part of all professional world class pianists. Is it because "early" infers "inferior"? Wrong! Beethoven's early piano sonatas were well ahead of the game and more advanced compared to his essays in other genres in his early Vienna years. They were big, bold statements of intent and technically challenging, especially this one. Perhaps this is a reason for its neglect. Is there anything written at that time that sounds remotely like this? The Adagio could have been written by Schumann! Thank you for this maginificent performance. The joy in your discovery of this work was evident for all to hear.
The motion of your arms really helped me understand the music in pauses and moments of silence. Just because there is no sound, doesn't mean there's no music!
Apart from the fantastic playing, the sound mixing on these Beethoven videos by Valentina is absolutely superb. Also the preparation of the piano: hats off to all the technicians involved.
@@ValentinaLisitsaQOR I will not miss your appointments. I hope to move in time for tickets. I wait for you in Autumn, you will be welcome in Italy.🙏🙏❤️❤️
I know you practice very, very much, but still i get the feeling that you were sent down to earth to play the piano, like you were meant to do this. Lucky for us, hello and love from Finland!
Valentina, your technique is incredible, you give a very fresh touch to the interpretation, Recording the 32 Beethoven sonatas is a challenge congratulations, greetings from Mexico c:
Valentina, I love that you are comfortably dressed for this recording and I especially like your sweater. You look at ease with Beethoven in this exquisite sonata. I have played this nearly non-stop since discovering it. Спасибо!!
This Beethoven 'adagio is one of most beautiful . It make me cry. And the sound is upsetting. Thank you. I just learn it but of course it is not so beautiful😪
My dear Valentina you did again! With beauty, lightness and grace . My favorite by far early Beethoven's sonata his truly first virtuosic piano sonata.! I am listening to a pianist recording a beautiful sonata in happier times. She happens to be Ukrainian, the studio is in Russia, the composer was German but what does that matter? The music speaks to all of us.
Nice. Many people have performed good interpretations of Beethoven. Once again very well done. I always can expect great performances listening to Valentina Lisitsa. Many people play this 1st movement , Valentina is a top professional pianist. So we all have to remain humble when considering her musical accomplishment. Thank you Valentina.
The first movement of this brings back memories from my own brief flirtation with classical piano. It was played a lot in local competitions. I'm glad I stuck around for the whole thing!! Aside from the super fast stuff you play spectacularly throughout, you used amazing control in the second movement, and the theme emerged at a gradual, measured pace. Also, lots of left-hand fun very well executed. Of course it's always fun watching and hearing you play, Valentina!! Merry Christmas, and happy Beethoven Sesquicentennial!!
Ah I remember watching you stream practicing this! This is one of my favorite Beethoven’s early sonatas, and your playing is lovely. I absolutely adore you, Valentina :D ❤️
Você não imagina como amo suas interpretações, para mim você é a melhor do mundo, sou verdadeiramente apaixonado por você. Obrigado por existir! Feliz Natal, Valentina!
Hello, im from Oklahoma. An have never been able or enjoy concert piano plane. But then I ran across one of your videos and it was amazing I loved every second of it you're an amazing piano player I would love to someday to be able to come and watch you live I really enjoy the emotion and the passion that you put into your work I love it thank you very much for introducing the Amazing Music of the piano keep up the great work
I would love to see you play wearing an old fashioned white night gown and the matching head wear (long, that falls down on your back), and you play in the middle of the night and everything is dark, except a candlelight. The candle is placed in an old, portable candle holder, like they used at night before the light bulb was invented. Then you play something deep and passionate, on the verge of artistic madness.
Such a Pleasure to watch & Listen. I received your Tchaikovsky Piano CD Set for Christmas, I am beyond happy 🌺🌺🌺😘😘😘🥰🥰🥰 It is a Fabulous collection of piano pieces 👏👏👏
Hi Valentina, happy new year and wish the best for u all time I heard this magnificient sonats for several times and whenever.i saw your performance i admire your tecnique balance and rythm control.Bravo from classics to late romantics...l'm waiting for completing the Beethoven complete sonats, the new testament in piano literature❤
Valentina always looks so young. It's like she never ages, while everyone else does. LOL I do feel a strong Joseph Hyden influence in Beethoven's Piano Sonata #3. If memory serves me correctly (which it rarely does), I believe Hyden was Beethoven's teacher/mentor for a while. Anyway, Happy New Year, Valentina!
I. Allegro con brio 00:00
II. Adagio 09:53

1/2 way through I realized the video is in Black and White. The music filled my mind with colors, so I never noticed.

Of all these magnificent pianists on youtube, i think Valentina has the most “stage presense”. She is a joy to behold. I dearly love her ❤️

listening pleasure..
She reads not music, she plays from heart. 💕 💕

I love the "backroom" informality of the setting. The only thing missing is Valentina in her pyjamas
I got alot of Joseph Hayden vibes listening to this. It reminds me Hayden's "Surprise Symphony." 😉
I believe all of Op. 2 was dedicated to Joseph Haydn, so that may be why it reminds you of him.
