Quite possibly my favorite Anastasia RUclips offering. Beethoven and Anna keep the Sunday afternoon rain from harming my hopeful outlook. Cheers from the U.S.A.
I am an old guy but I remember my mother playing this often. She would often be overwhelmed by the task of raising 6 children on Dad's very low salary. Some times she would drop everything and go to the piano, and play this. I realize now that the fast parts expressed her frustration with all she had to do, and when the slow portion came an expression of peace came over her face. I know it saved her sanity. Unfortunately she was woren out at a young age dying at age 52. Regretfully, I was too dense to realize all that she did for us. God rest her soul!
Hey old guy! I’m right up there with you! One thing I have learned and experienced about music - particularly classical music is that listening intently or even casually heals the souls of those who listen. May the remainder of your life be healed by it! Blessings!
Mine was playing that as well almost daily in the evening after a long day of work. As a child about to find sleep, Schubert impromptus , Chopin, Bach , Brahms and Schumann works and notes were flying all over my bedroom, such a great way to go dreaming. Thank mum.
My mom was a pianist and she practiced this every Sunday morning for years when we were little. Hearing this just brought back all those memories like a movie. She passed 40 years ago.
I close my eyes while listening to her play, and I feel transformed to a world, where there’s no fear, pain, stress or worry. Her playing is subliminal, and incredibly beautiful. To say that she’s majestic would be an understatement.
Now imagine that Beethoven had a blank piece of paper in front of him when he wrote this. Just a feeling inside him. And put THAT on a piece of paper. That's pure genius. Imagine writing THAT. Excellent performance though, I just got lost in the creation. Lost in the "chase" he obviously imagined. Tears. :)
Young lady, you have converted me (in my late years) to this beautiful music. I have never been been a big fan of classical music, but listening to the expression you put into your playing, those hands just 'owning' the keyboard, your playing reaches deep down inside and touches the very soul. Just beautiful. !!!!
I was at Myrtle Beach many years ago sitting on a board walk bench watching the full moon rise up out of the ocean..a nearby ice cream shop had the good sense to have that aired over the speakers...will never forget it..
Ludwig Van Beethoven is with doubt the greatest composer who ever lived. Wilhelm Richard Wagner held this colossal genius in the highest esteem. Thanks Anastasia...your rendition is simply soul-stirring.
By the age of 16 I was grade 8 piano, I’m 36 now and haven’t played a piano in 20 years 🤦♂️. Being in lockdown I’m listening to random classical pieces of music and this is seriously making me think too start playing again 😍. Beautiful piece of music played by a very talented lady x
Everyone else has, rightfully, commented and praised you on the first and third movements. I'd like to say you shined on the second movement. It's often ignored but I find it very uplifting after the heaviness of the first movement and good preparation for the drama of the third.
Beauty is said to be defined by a woman in a red dress playing one of the most famous pieces of music ever written by a man who was deaf. Absolutely marvellous
I can only play the radio. Hearing you play is such joy. From the chilled and frozen Heartland of America. I must say I just love to here you play. No matter how times I here you play this, it still warms my heart. I am glad you share this gift you have. A fan from across the pond. God keep blessing you. For now Over and Out.
Staggering, truly staggering. Unbelieveable confidence and interpretation, all from memory, this is a true force majeure. Her intellect must be be one of the finest to play such a piece with such finesse and understanding. I am awestruck
Two questions: How can an earthly person write such music? How can an earthly person perform so wonderfully? I know, there's a lot to do with talent, practice and sheer hard work, but even so... respect!
I had the privilege of going to a concert pianist's home for a social visit. He lived out on Cape Cod. It was a calm summer evening with the windows open and a slight breeze. He played Moonlight Sonata on a Steinway grand piano with the sound of the breeze through the tall grass on the beach and the soft sounds of the ocean waves in the distance. It is something I will never forget.
This has always been my favorite piano work . Beethoven meant every note, they all fit together like a fine machine. Nothing out of place or imbalanced. I feel that he would be proud of your rendition. I really enjoy your videos. They make an old man feel alive again. Bless you.
Absolutely incredible playing marred by unnecessarily busy camera work in the 3rd movement. The playing and musicality speaks for itself and doesn’t need action film cinematics.
That is the most moving performance of the first movement I have ever experienced. I actually felt the emotion, the strength and the deepest sorrow! Your third movement is spectacular, precise and wonderful. The Yamaha has such clear tones from the bass to the treble notes, enhanced by your amazing control. I love this piece, with the full range of emotional power involved, but your dynamics are the best I have ever seen. You're a wonderful artist, and thank you for such beauty and grace.
It seems so UNFAIR that one person could be such a tremendous virtuoso, sensitive interpreter of great music AND be such a stunningly beautiful young woman all at the same time I've heard several of your toher RUclips offerings, Anastasia, and truly believe you have already achieved true greatnes at a very young age. Your playing shows no limitations whatsoever. May God bless you and keep you through a long, successful career, and a most happy and rewarding personal life.
I was prepared to make a comment but your playing leaves me almost speechless as well as breathless, Anastasia. The emotion and passion and feeling you put into this Beethoven classic makes it seem new again although I’ve heard-and enjoyed it-many times. Thank you for sharing your remarkable gift with us. ❤️
Anastasia you need no motivation. You my sweet are motivation personified! What is most impressive to me is when you play you give it a third dimension. I mean you articulate softness with firmness! Your play brings the classice to living emotion! I can tell your play unannounced or blindfolded. If the related composers were yet here on earth they would swell with pride! THANK YOU!
When I was young I used to play piano. And this song was one of my favorits. I used to play Choppin and others too. It happened till I was 19 . Then I stoped to play and study piano because of the university. Now I´m 58 and I´m a phsycologist that love my work. But, I love piano too. And today I´m not able to read a partiture again. So SAD. I´d really love to play piano again. I think it´s still time to do it!!! Anastasia, you are great!!!
Hi Lilian. I started learning from scratch nearly 9 years ago in 2011 when I was 48. The piano has brought so much joy and happiness into my life that I don't consider ever giving up. Well, my neighbours might disagree here! Even if as an adult one cannot learn or memorize the way children do, to me it has paid off. Definitely. I encourage you to take it up again. I think having started to play and study as a child makes you much more likely to be able to catch up, get your skills back and enjoy the piano again in less time than it would take someone who starts like I did. By the way, I studied psychology, too, but now I work as a teacher.
I am floored by Anastasia. She is brilliant in every tempo. The hyperactive director of this video came close to ruining her 3rd movement because whatever substance he was on caused him to think it wasn't exciting enough to watch this genious perform with the speed and precision and athletic piano pounding Beethoven demands here. So, as beautiful and exciting as Ms. Huppman is to watch, try just playing the sonata with headphones on and close your eyes, or write as you listen, as I just did. Bravo!
Ms. Huppmann, I had the great fortune to make your virtual acquaintance here on your RUclips channel a mere two hours ago and am presently enjoying your many videos. I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for sharing your gift, grace, creativity, and industry with the world; thank you, thank you, a million times. Though nowhere near your level of talent, I myself am a classical pianist since childhood, my earliest recital pieces featuring Beethoven's Moonlight and Pathetique, but your passion and precision bring an energy and devotion to them I've never experienced - again, thank you. May great fortune continue to attend your every endeavor, dear lady and Muse! Your latest and humblest friend and devotee, John Campos, Out in the West Texas Town of El Paso 🙂
Georgious, charm, beauty, talent, glamour, elegance, inspiration, Anastasia not only brings us her talented interpretation, she takes us in her fabulous music world, its a moment out of time, a moment of joy, peace and love. Some humans are so blessed, she is among them. Thanks !
Anastasia... Superb, my dear. I have absolutely No doubts that, if Mister Beethoven was alive today and with his hearing restored, that he would have eyes filled with tears of joy listening to how beautifully you play his masterpiece. 💖
This is one of only three pieces that I can honestly say bring tears to my eyes, when it's played as well as this you have me tearing up... Thankyou for performing it so well....
Marvelous interpretation. The 1st mov was perfectly played and balanced. The triplet rhythm was ever present in the right hand while maintaining a beautiful melody. The 2nd mov, sweet and airy with a nice rubato at the phrase endings. The 3rd mov was absolute outstanding. Bravo
Beethoven said, "Composers are made of fire." This piece is like the billowing of gentle and warm flames. You have achieved that and the glow that your execution and delivery radiate is splendid. Thank you very much, from Chile, Anastasia.
The music is so familiar yet it becomes brand new when performed by such a strikingly attractive young woman. As I'm typing this I'm also listening to Anastasia play the second movement of the Appasionata with tears welling in my eyes. We're living in difficult days and music like this is such a comfort.
Presto part absolutely everything was there. the strength, the softness, the depth, the caress, the storm and its return to calm. the story of life... these moments of joy, then sadness, melancholy, anger, despair, love. Only you and Mr Claudio Arrau had given me goosebumps. Thank you Anastasia
I havent heard this sonata in full for many years. But I was spellbounded, I had to hear everything of this, one of the greatest masterpieces of all time. Even being so well known, I discovered new great moments, that I hadn’t’ heard before. I like your devotion, your technique, and your use of pedal, sparse, but well applied. Thank you so much for this!
Hello Anastasia, thank ypu for a great moment of beauty! What would be our society without such great artists like you and what would be our society without such exceptional composers as Bethoven! Thank you again and all possible success and joy to you!
Absolutely beautiful! Firm but with whispers throughout, like the groanings of a giant and the exhales of a fairy... You give so much reverence, so much gravitas, to every piece you play, Anastasia. Thank you, always, for sharing your gift with the world!
Dear Anastasia: Listening and viewing how you perform is an experience I want to have many times before my departure. Thanks for sharing your thrilling artistry with all of us. 🙏😻🙏
Thank you very much. Personally I listen to your enchanting play every single day because it always makes me refreshed and relaxed to a large extent. Whenever I face any difficulty in literary work, say, writing poems or memorizing sonnets, I usually visit your performance with a lot of passion, enhancing me to a top-notch level of music. You made my day. Thanks a million.
Just wonderful this playing Beethoven' Mondscheinsonate. Its like being kissed by the muse and drawn into another, non-earthy world. More of such music is making life heavenly beautiful.
Oh my goodness. Whenever I feel like I’m missing something I play this one again. Anastasia, I’m so glad you have the ability and desire to play this at the right tempo. Too many ‘artists’ slow it down too much. It’s an aggressive and passionate piece meant to be played so. You pull me in then squeeze oh so tightly until the finale. Excellent! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Keep doing what you do. You love it and we do too. Thank you.
I guess this is the way Beethoven would have wanted this great piece to be played. You must have a deeper connection to the piece, played with so much emotional engagement. Really stunning, the best version I've heard up to day.
I so enjoy your performances. In such a tumultuous and indecent world, your beautiful music feeds my soul and allows me to go on, refreshed. I am very grateful for your sharing such wonderful talent with us.
BRAVO!!!! OUTSTANDING !! Definitely this has been the best perfomance of the Sonata 14 I have ever heard in my life. Ludwig, watching your performance up from the heaven, must certainly be proud of you. You are yourself "Quasi una fantasia" in the most beautiful lyric sense. Thank you so much for the post.
Thank you, Anastasia Huppmann, for this richly sensitive performance, it truly touches the soul! And the sustain in this amazing Yamaha is almost like a pipe organ! Such a rich sound. The fingering in the Presto is really impressive! Greetings from Canada!
Excellent performance! I first heard this piece as a kid in grade school some 60+ years ago. I have always thought the first movement a bit much, I guess it's the 'Moonlight' part. The moonlight is gone, however, with the 2nd and 3rd movements. Perhaps these upbeat movements introduce the always promising dawn of a new day; Vigor, excitement, interest, challenge!
Absolutely Beautiful! Every piece of music written by Beethoven was otherworldly , heavenly and genius. I love Moonlight Sonata and this young woman is playing it to perfection! ❤️🎹❤️
I've just recently started learning the 3rd movement. This is by far the most ambitious undertaking I've ever attempted and will take me quite a long time to master it! I've been watching a lot of videos of this piece and this is by far my favorite! I've not seen the emotion, style, and interpretation from anyone else that Anastasia puts into this performance! Thank you, Anastasia!
@@dez6345 I got about a third of it down pretty well. I practiced a lot when I was working from home. Now that I go to the office each day, my practice time has dwindled. But I keep chipping away at it. I really enjoy playing it. I can play the 1st mvt and have been working a little on the 2nd mvt. Thanks for asking!
You have such a sympathy for Beethoven Anastasia. Like silvery moonlight on the surface of a tremulous lake the music has a hypnotic beauty. We gradually move through the disturbance of gentle breezes to, by the third, a tempestuous and storming finale. Beautifully played and interpreted.
Thanks so much for your explanation of Beethoven's stunning sonata. I have been learning this piece to play from memory but wasn't sure I was i it correctly, was my tempo correct, my articulation, my rubato etc but now I have listened to your video I feel so excited to play it as a fantasy, much more in keeping with how Beethoven wanted it to be played, and add much more of me, my mood and feeling each time I play it, and really connect to every nuance. Thank you so much Lorraine

Beethoven was not an Impressionist, but this music evidenced the subtlety of the purest light, with the magic of your interpretation.

Anastasia Huppmann celestial
Blessings!
Indeed, may God rest her blessed soul.
Cool story, old guy 👍
Is Dad still around? Maybe you can still hookup with him and he'll tell you how it was providing for a family on a "low salary"!
MrDukeus exact same story for me!
I close my eyes while listening to her play, and I feel transformed to a world, where there’s no fear, pain, stress or worry. Her playing is subliminal, and incredibly beautiful. To say that she’s majestic would be an understatement.

I'm tearing up, such a beautiful woman making such beautiful sounds coming from such a beautiful instrument written by a beautiful genius, Beethoven
Thank you for your support!🙏🏻

Cannot argue with that. ☺💖
Those arpeggios in the 3rd movement. Gorgeous.

Put all the ads at the start. This is one piece that should not be interrupted.
Breathtaking performance.

Was probably 11yrs. old when I first heard Moon Light Sonata. I’ve love it since, I’m near 80 now. Thank you.
Loved it since…
Staggering, truly staggering. Unbelieveable confidence and interpretation, all from memory, this is a true force majeure. Her intellect must be be one of the finest to play such a piece with such finesse and understanding. I am awestruck

A piano player just plays the notes. A true musician, like Ms. Huppmann, makes the instrument sing and celebrate the genius of Beethoven. Bravo.
Her phrasing and voicing is exquisite, pulling passion from the black notation on the page like no other pianist I've ever heard.
Right on the money! Fire personified on a keyboard with the passion and lyrical phrasing beautifully restrained.
Yeah. Phrasing so clear. Impressed. But the rapid editing gives doubt to a live performance.
An absolutely marvelous performance. The composer is a musical genius and the pianist gave a performance worthy of the composition. Thanks a lot...

Anything may fail, Beethoven never. Lovely rendition. Thank you.
🙏🏻
Hello Anastasia, thank ypu for a great moment of beauty! What would be our society without such great artists like you and what would be our society without such exceptional composers as Bethoven! Thank you again and all possible success and joy to you!
Absolutely beautiful! Firm but with whispers throughout, like the groanings of a giant and the exhales of a fairy... You give so much reverence, so much gravitas, to every piece you play, Anastasia. Thank you, always, for sharing your gift with the world!
🙏
Dear Anastasia: Listening and viewing how you perform is an experience I want to have many times before my departure. Thanks for sharing your thrilling artistry with all of us. 🙏😻🙏
It's 2:30 am and ought to be bed, but can't because there is so much beautiful music.
Thank you posting. From a grateful senior
A wonderful performance. Captures the passion of Beethoven.
🙏🏻
I just watch how beautifully your fingers dance across the keys. Wonderful! Thank you.
Thank you.
🙏🏻
Beautiful, relaxing. Just what I need after a long day. She plays it beautiful.
I grew up loving this piece of music and thank you for bringing it to life so beautifully.
🙏🏻
I guess this is the way Beethoven would have wanted this great piece to be played. You must have a deeper connection to the piece, played with so much emotional engagement. Really stunning, the best version I've heard up to day.
Thank you kindly 🫶🏻
Anastasia ... arte, sentimiento, ejecución perfecta ... belleza ... gracias Anastasia por darnos tanto ...
That 3rd movement was flawless! Thank you for the beautiful music.
Glad you enjoyed it!🙏🏻
Thank God for the real Musicians that came along before our time and left us with a myriad of masterpieces
you play beautifully
As if Beethoven composed the moonlight sonata for you Anastasia. One of the best versions ever. Brava.
I so enjoy your performances. In such a tumultuous and indecent world, your beautiful music feeds my soul and allows me to go on, refreshed. I am very grateful for your sharing such wonderful talent with us.
I never tire, of this beautiful masterpiece. ❤
There are no words to express your brilliant musical dextrecity. Love it.
because you are so pretty, your intellectual brilliance shines even more bright
🙏🏻
The soft touches of 1st movement really broke my heart.
🙏🏻
Absolutely Beautiful! Every piece of music written by Beethoven was otherworldly , heavenly and genius. I love Moonlight Sonata and this young woman is playing it to perfection! ❤️🎹❤️
I've just recently started learning the 3rd movement. This is by far the most ambitious undertaking I've ever attempted and will take me quite a long time to master it! I've been watching a lot of videos of this piece and this is by far my favorite! I've not seen the emotion, style, and interpretation from anyone else that Anastasia puts into this performance! Thank you, Anastasia!
U ever do it?!
Beautiful music played by the beautiful lady in red. Thank you!
You play so beautifully that it takes away the stress of my day to list to you when I am home from working and I can relax.
I was introduced to this lovely piece by a fantastic music teacher we had at school.
RIP Miss Cartwright
You have such a sympathy for Beethoven Anastasia. Like silvery moonlight on the surface of a tremulous lake the music has a hypnotic beauty. We gradually move through the disturbance of gentle breezes to, by the third, a tempestuous and storming finale. Beautifully played and interpreted.
🙏🏻
Thanks so much for your explanation of Beethoven's stunning sonata. I have been learning this piece to play from memory but wasn't sure I was i it correctly, was my tempo correct, my articulation, my rubato etc but now I have listened to your video I feel so excited to play it as a fantasy, much more in keeping with how Beethoven wanted it to be played, and add much more of me, my mood and feeling each time I play it, and really connect to every nuance. Thank you so much Lorraine
The music score should be a memory aid. Real musicians play without the sheet music.
Divine, truly - I have heard so many performances of this sonata, but you find something else in it.
