Thank you for this tutorials; I’ve always be amazed at how perfect sashing on a quilt looks, but couldn’t figure out how it was done. Your tutorials are always the best!!!❤️
Thankyou so much! Clear instructions and not too fast. And thankyou for not wasting time showing straight stitching on the machine! As a beginner this is just perfect for me and I have been searching through videos for a long time, which is very overwhelming. You are great!!
You are by far one of the best instructors of quilting, crafting, sewing etc. Every time I have a question regarding one of these, I look for the answer on your RUclips channel. Your way of teaching is excellent. Your soft voice is soothing and and your way of demonstrating is great for beginners. .
Well thanks again, you’re awesome. You are my go to person when I’m ready to challenge myself with something new. You have taught me so much, which put a lot of smiles on people faces with then projects I have made
I needed some guidance when it comes to sashing. Your link came up and I followed it to your video. First of all, I could listen to you all day. Your voice is so comforting which makes listening to your tips and directions a joy. Secondly, I love your teaching style and learned everything I needed to know in an 8 minute video. Thank you so much and since I subscribed immediately and added you to Instagram and Facebook, I will be watching you a lot more. I already feel like I could sit down and have a cup of coffee and a chat with you 😊.
Hi Sus1981ful. You must have lived in Fullerton at one time. I lived there for many years and moved away in 2011 when I retired. Glad the sashing tutorial was helpful. Thanks for watching 💗, and happy sewing. 😍
Going to start my first big quilt for my son. Going to do this sashing on it. Making a deer quit since he h as a pass for hunting. Thank you for doing this.
Hi Sherrill, I have not seen a demonstration on how to add sashing strips to your quilt blocks over the many videos I have seen. This is going to help many people ❤️🥰❤️ Thank You, Chris-Raleigh NC
Would be nice to see a sashing tutorial that more closely resembles the usual application of sashing, that is, in a quilt-as-you-go quilt, rather than just a topper, as many use sashing to put their quilted blocks together since it would be easier to do so on a domestic machine. Thank you again for another informative video!
Don't know if this helps anybody, I've read where marking the sashing from the side (vertically?). What was explained was to put the sashing on just like you teach it. Then when you attach a row of squares to the long sashing, place the mark of the short sashing onto the long sashing. Do the marking on the long sashing after the long sashing has been attached. This way the next row can be lined up with the prior row. I've used this method with good results. Hopefully I explained the process so people can understand 😀. Love your videos, and teaching 💕. Just wanted to share a tip I've found useful. Not the teacher you are, so if it doesn't make sense, it's my fault. Thank you for all your information, and teaching 🌹
What is the best way to piece smaller fabric strips (all of the same material) together to create longer horizontal sashing? For example, if the width of the horizontal sashing needs to be 70" and yardage total isn't that length, could I cut shorter strips and sew them together to complete 10 lengths of 70"? Should I connect them with a diagonal 1/4" seam or straight seams? Will it look disjointed with random pieces sewn together to create the sashing? Each row could have seams, within the horizontal sashing, in different places. I'm on my first quilt ever...and it's turned into a little bit of quilt as you go-which I'm fine with, but wanted another opinion. Thank you so much.
Hi User-Im1nm. I recommend you add corner stones to the sashing. This way you will not have seams that will look out of place. Here is my tutorial on sashing with the corner stones: ruclips.net/video/M6oR72dNCXY/видео.html Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗 and happy sewing😍
I sure do! I recommend an Oliso Pro. Check out my sewing tools tutorial where I go into detail about this iron: ruclips.net/video/HgjM8oWPMhc/видео.html. Thanks for watching and happy sewing! 😍
Hi Winning Numbers. Yes layer all the fabrics, do quilting stitches, then trim the edges straight, and last sewing the binding. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗and happy holidays😍
Hi Brenda. If your squares are more than 6" to 8", I recommend doing stitch in the ditch, and do several more straight lines of stitching through each square. Or you can do the serpentine stitch with is a wavy line. All computerized sewing machines have this stitch. Here is a tutorial on quilting stitches. ruclips.net/video/jEuvmUS-078/видео.html Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.

Quick question. Would it be easier to just put one long strip on the outside blocks? I guess that would be considered part of the boarder ?.
Hi Annette. You can do it either way. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍
Do you add batting and backing then? Wish you had shown that too. Thanks
Hi Winning Numbers. Yes layer all the fabrics, do quilting stitches, then trim the edges straight, and last sewing the binding. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗and happy holidays😍

Hello
Instead of doing cotton, how would flannel work ??
Yes you can use flannel, but be careful sewing on flannel. It stretches easily.
Have fun. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Great instructional video. Thank you, Cheryl!
