Finally!! A wonderful easy to understand way to do this. Great explanation, this newbie quilter can now join those together with confidence. My fof( fear of failure) level was quite pronounced!
From the UK - great instructions, but a shame you didn't use different fabrics/blocks as very difficult to see. did you create another video using different contrasting fabrics? If not, could you add your teaching skills are top notch! 😊
Thank you very much for the clearly explaining of this technique. I am just a beginner with quilting so I have to learn a lot and your video's are very interesting for me.
To me, this looks the best out of the other quilt as you go videos. So is there no way to do a quilt as you go without sashing?? I thought there was. I love your blocks too by the way!
It's great to have a helper! I love QAYG, and this method of sewing the blocks together is the best as far as I'm concerned. After you've sewn the block, in order to sew the rows, I'm assuming you make a long strip the width of the quilt to secure those rows?
Oh My .. the CAT !!! I was so busy watching him/her I'm afraid I had trouble paying attention to you .. what is his/hers name .. a beautiful thing it is :0)
Do you mean use a wider strip than I used for the sashing? If so, the blocks wouldn't be right against each other and, as there is no batting in the sashing, it would just be 2 pieces of fabric on top of one another so I don't think that would work very well.
At 7:20 you mention the stitching is not perfect but your not going to see that in the final product. How is that possible? The stitching is visible is it not? Just wondering as a new quilter. Thanks for posting.
I was referring to the underside of the sashing. The top stitching looked good but where I folded it under - not as good but as it's on the bottom, you won't see it. Hope that explains it.
I've always done it the way I've shown so I'm not sure. If you did it the opposite way, you might see the topstitching that you've done on the back on the front. I've have to give it a try and see what the final result looks like.

I'm a Janome user and I use the HP2 foot for joining my quilt as you go blocks. It works perfectly with this joining technique.

Thank you so much!
Love having the lovely cat there!
Me too!
super ...I can understand it ..simplicity is my thing:) LOVE your beautiful cat!!!!
Thank you Kim. It is a good method to use. Makes me less afraid of making a quilt knowing that I can use QAYG.
You are so welcome!
Thanks for showing your method of joining blocks -I like that the second strip is not folded as is usual because the seam is not as thick.
Thank you for sharing. I am a newbie to quilting and found it is a lot easier doing QAYG. I just needed ideas on how to stitch them together🤓
Great demo of QAYG blocks Kim! Love the Seam align glue💕🧵
Salem made me smile!! Thanks for a great tutorial also😬👍

I was wondering how the quilt as you go blocks would go together. How neat. I'm sure I'll have to watch a couple of times til I get it down! LOL
Love your supervisor!!
This was one of the very easiest methods I have seen. Thank you.
You're welcome!
I love your helper. 😻
Me too! Just one of 3 in the studio.
Love the kitty
Me too!
I like that idea 😊
I love this! I wondered how to do this! Love your helper! So sweet!
Thanks so much. ❤

Yes there is and I have a video on that too. You can find it at ruclips.net/video/-Lvq4PVYE1A/видео.htmlsi=QvrFzu6sGXJMd7Lz

Yes, you'd be doing the same method just with one long piece of fabric.
Thank you! 🌹❤️
Ha. The sneaky black cat 😂
Your cat is a cutie! Great video too

That's Salem - and notice that we are dressed the same 😂. She is my son's cat but really my studio assistant.
@@Chatterboxquilts Love it .. give Salem an extra pat for me .. :0)
Will do! 🐈⬛
Can I used a wide strip for the sacking.

ok so I've sashed one complete row...HOW I sash the rows together...??
I've always wondered why it's not done the opposite way so that the front is properly seamed and the back is topstitched. Is there a reason?

The white is so hard to see
Why not finish the top of the block first? Then you don’t have topstitching on the top.
I've always done it the way I've shown so I'm not sure. If you did it the opposite way, you might see the topstitching that you've done on the back on the front. I've have to give it a try and see what the final result looks like.
Thanks a million!!!
