I have been building terrain for a few decades. Love your work. You are not afraid to take on a big project. I mostly use plasticard wood, some aluminum foam core and stiro. I have picked up some good ideas. thanks
Thanks dude! Yeah I'm currently in NZ on holiday and my copy of the new rules is sitting in store waiting for me hahaha, so keen to go pick it up as soon as I land :D
This is an absolutely beautiful recreation! It really brings to life - at least the walled area - of Edoras. Great work and I can't wait to see more from you. There's just something about Middle Earth that really inspires the imagination. I think it's time to buy more LOTR figures, starting with Rohan and Isengard.
Truly awesome- inspired my friend. I’ve been looking for a new project, I’ve been researching into a Lake-Town board but I’m now having a rethink. Well done!
I love watching your videos for inspiration! I have been making other model dioramas and gameplay boards. You should create a section of Edoras with the new Rohan houses.
Awesome man, but we miss out on key details when the camera pulls so far away and fast forwards. I understand you have to do that for time, but zooming in and show how to do the details, even just for a moment is crucial for a tutorial.
BasicallyD&D thanks man you raise a great point. Yeah I'm editing on a big 4k monitor so often I'm worried I'm not zoomed in enough. I'll try and grab lots for juicy closeups for the next installment. Any particular part specifically? Maybe the static grassing? I think I had the build pretty well covered.
I totally agree.. Your dio is fantastic, just wish there were a few more still shots and closeups of the details as you go along. More video zooms and pans of the finer details would be great. Great stuff :)
Thanks dude :) Yeah I tried to get more and more details in my most recent tutorial let me know what you think of it :) ruclips.net/video/PgCHtT9nYcw/видео.html
Outstanding work again mate, I need to come down there one time to check this stuff out IRL. It's just a rather long way, and that kind of means expensive.
Greig Burges yeah dude I totally get it, would love to have you down though, maybe a bunch of you Sunny coasters could carpool down one time? Wait till I get a few more boards finished to make it worth the trip haha :D
Maybe gee up some kind of Inter-club type event, with 2nd Legion, Bray Park, and what ever you lads want to call yourselves. Or I'll just come down one time, find some cheap accommodation nearby.
Greig Burges yeah I'm hoping to put together a big national tournament hosted here in Brisbane some time in 2019, so we'll have to get you guys down for that. Where in the Sunny coast are you again?
I'm up at the Northern End, most of my Club mates are to the South. A big event is the perfect excuse for a weekend in the city. Actually, big events are the only reason I visit cities, I'm not a city boy ^_^ Maybe a Hobbit event at next years Briscon, or Herocon later in the year. Tom normally rocks the Briscon Hobbit, just got caught up in real life stuff this year.
I'm not a very big fan of Rohan, but, this scenery is absolute great!!! What exacly are you using for the base of your scenery? And what do you recommend me to buy, mirkwood elves of 55€ or gundabad orcs?
Thanks dude! The base is made with 5mm hardwood sheet and extruded polystyrene. I'd go for whatever models you like the best, they're both good forces!
Happy Boar thanks!! I have her a bit of a test run this weekend, the ground was soiled with the blood of many Uruks, but alas many Knights of Eorl fell defending their homeland.
Mate, that is pretty nice. I'd love to see some more of the building techniques in real time, but I also appreciate there is a hell of a lot of content to squeeze in to the video, so my vote is for more of the same... but if you do get a chance to, it's all gravy.
I have a question about your base. Is there just a layer of extruded foam glued to the hardboard or is there a wood frame on the outside with foam in the center?
@@Zorpazorp Awesome! Thanks for the reply. I got more foam than I know what to do with. I literally picked up a load that fell off a truck from the roadside a few years ago.
Harris thanks dude :D always nice to get a bit of a spur on, I'm currently slogging my way through the stone base of the last building for the interior of the city :D will hopefully have part two up within a week so stay tuned :D
When trying to build a watchtower or gatehouse what dimensions roughly would you use unsure of height etc 10 cm high say from floor to tip 6cm wide. Similar for gate house
can i ask you about the materials you used to this board beacuse I couldnt hear their names :/ and also what did you use to make these logs on the towers and pallisade? and what was that paste to add the natural look of the board? some kind of sticks?

You missed a great shot, as you were applying the grass tufts you could see them leaving your sheets... I think I more comic time lapse shot of your tuft sheets getting used would have been good.
hi man, I don;t know how to message u personally, do you do any of this work for other people to order? I'd love to have some work made from you, let me know!
Thanks dude, that's a really nice request. I haven't made commissions before as I spend a lot of time on these builds and they would be incredibly expensive to make it worth my while. But it might be something I look at in the future? I'm not sure yet :)
YO man, aaaaaw that's to bad but there reaaaally is a market there for you, my email is: akeemvieira@hotmail.com , If is has to be WORTH your time that can defenitly be discussed! I understand this is quality and pricy work, and yes I don''t give up easily (-=, who knows, It might bring you great things!!! let me know ^^
Just watching the burial clips you showed, even without the audio, gave me the chills. The lord of the rings series was done so well and the hobbit was complete shit. They need to be remade.
Elias Harben That would be hilarious, I've often thought about doing some games combining LEGO Lotr sets and SBG, would make for a good laugh :D I think the gatehouse set is Helm's Deep isn't it?
They sure could, it only has a stone foundation.
