Getgood Drums - One Kit Wonder: Architects

- #getgooddrums have released probably my favorite drum library to date: it's punchy, thick and the sampling is amazingly detailed for a wide range of musical applications (expect some funk in the near future).
.
Drums in this play-through are straight out of the plugin except for some light bus processing and a trash can layer towards the end.

Ibanez RGD61AL / BTB405QM
Horizon Devices Apex/Precision drive

I keep coming back listening to this demo ✨ SO GOOD 🙌🏾💖
Thank you so much man 🙂🙏
Everyone is talking about the ggd drum kit (it's insanely good ofc), but look how this rockstar is vibing to his own demo. I really love it!
This sound like it was recorded in a studio in LA! insanely good
Thank you, you're too kind! I feel self-conscious after every video (guitars are a tad shrill here, bass could be more defined.. urgh haha)
Second Musician i've found this week that im so glad i've found! Everything about this video is a YES. The quality of the recording, quality of the video and the editing.
Definite subscribe to see what more magic you grace us with! Thanks for sharing the content!
Wow, thank you so much for watching the video and for the kind words!
was digging it at first but then you stole my heart with those blast beats.
The drums sounds like the last Architects album, other demos don't. GREAT JOB!!!!
This is really amazing! Loved the orchestration!!!!
Woah that last part is soo sick! Love it🙌
this demo songs kicked ass! good job man
amazing sound and great composition. good job
i love coming back to this, the dead butterflies esque strings are gorgeous and the riffs are sublime!
Thank you Steve, loved writing this one's! I tried to cram in all the Architects I could 😁🙌
This slaps 🔥🔥🔥 Amazing demo!
Awesome tone, excellent production & arrangement... really well done Raoul !
Thank you very much Marti! 😊
The drum has this smoothness in the mix.Sounding very very natural.
Look at this cute boy. Sounds great! I am looking forward to getting this kit!
Amazing as always 🔥😎
Such a cool track! This is great
brilliance as always!
Wow Raoul... So well done as usual! You constantly amaze me man. I love how your mind translates to music. Looking
forward to the next one!
Thank you so much Scott, really means a lot!
Finally a ggd drum showcase were the mix sound legit. Everyone just puts their instruments in and it sound really bland so you can't get a showcase on what the drums are possible to do in a mix. This was really well done thx :)
Thank you so much Theo :) I'll keep pushing myself to be worthy of your compliments!
I really need this to be an entire song, it's on loop for me since 30 minutes, amazing job man 🙌
Thank you so much Joaquin! I'll probably rework this track for a full length release... just need to find the time haha
@ Absolutely, that gives me peace, keep working, you do it so well 💪
Dude, this is sick!🤌🔥
Beautiful man😍🔥
That four on the floor at 0:50 absolutely pumps!

Ow man, thank you so much 💟 I'm a long time subscriber and big fan of your work :) (both with No Ostriches and with the woodworking/guitar building).
@ Man i'm just blown away by your talent. Just stumbled across your videos and there's literally no genre you don't nail on point!
@@MilianMalivukMusic you absolutely made my evening, thank you so much!
You are amazing Raoul, loved the demo!! Bought right after this, I'll write something as well I guess, HYPED
Thanks a ton Ali! Can't wait to hear what you come up with :)
Awesome!!
FIIIIIIRE!! 🔥🔥🔥

Damn this was sick
Brillant
Sounds 👌

You made me buy this
aw dude 1:03 is where you got me. this is so sick
That was cool
Subscribed buddy. Good job :)
this slaps
Just stumbled into this video, haha. But shit, this blew me away! Synths, blast beats and cool riffs! That riff at the end was very while she sleeps imo, which is a good thing! But most of all, it looks like you love what you play, and that is so cool to see. Kudos to you!
Thank you so much for the compliments Christer, it warms my heart that you get that I love music and feel blessed that I just get to play!
Can you please make this into a full song? Haha. Been coming here to check this video out a couple times a week, since you put it out, haha
@@Christer91Nilsen thank you so much 🙏 It's my plan, can't say when I'll have the time though..
Fuck yeah man!

Incredible sound and song, what do you use for the synthesizers and atmosphere?
Any outside processing on the drums or was everything on the drums straight from the GGD plugin? Sounds killer!
Very light EQ to add some top end, drums bus compression/tape saturation then my master bus processing on the whole mix (EQ, light comp and further tape saturation). The samples do sound almost mix ready out of the box!
Hola amigo, hablo español, video increíble, desde el sonido y la composicion, me gustaria saber como se crea ese efecto sintetizador en el minuto 0:50, es solo un sonido o varios, un tutorial sobre cómo crear sintetizador para metal sería excelente
Man, that is awesome. Now you have to share your recording tips and tricks. Sorry but it is so))))
I don't think I have any recording tricks to share apart from getting as much of your source tones close to the final result as possible. My writing process is to finish a section before I move on to the next one by improvising/experimenting in this order: initial first idea -> mix/rework drums to it -> extra synths -> the rest. Biggest tip I could give is to accept that some ideas lead to nowhere: it's a fine line but knowing when to start over, no matter how deep into the rabbit hole I am, has boosted my output. I post these videos every other day so efficience is key. They're pretty much all improvised and put together as quickly as possible. I'd have to relearn the parts the next day to play them 😅
I've been thinking of getting some Horizon pedals to run through my Kemper.
The Apex's a tighter MXR 5150 while the Precision drive is very modern sounding OD with a tweakable hi-pass filter. They're well made and sound great, they're on the pricier side but I would recommend them!
@ yeah I just would have to figure out how to run an fx loop through the kemper.
Could u tell us what u did to the drum bus in detail? would love to know!
Master EQ was disabled in OKW. Processing on the drum bus was as follows: mid high-shelf (+1dB starting at 1.5kHz), tape saturation (kclip2 in tape mode), clipping (ik multimedia classic clipper, 2dB hard clip on hardest snare hits).
Heavy lifting done by the master bus (general EQ, hipass at 25Hz, +1dB 100Hz, +2dB 5500Hz, +3dB hi-shelf starting at 10kHz), Api compressor (2dB max GR, attack 10ms, 4:1 ratio, release 200ms in feedback mode), tape saturation (kramer tape), hard clipper (kclip2 in crisp mode), final limiter (pro L2 in modern mode, 1/2dB max GR) :)
great job man ..bro what plug in you used in the syntheziser??
Thanks! This track uses a combination of Logic retrosynth, Newfangled pendulate (main sounds), Arturia arp2600, Cradle the prince and a midi controlled Moog minitaur that's slightly out of tune.
@ thank you for your reply ,,
Sounds great man! What does your bass chain look like?
Thanks! Ibanez BTB -> Boss GT1000: split into 2 paths, everything 500Hz goes through the X-Modded amp block then into a GGD Cali cabs IR based on the "Nolly - Fat Lead" preset, some EQ tweaks and light comp. My plugin chain in Logic is minimal EQ depending on the context followed by Wavesfactory trackspacer to duck the subs when the kick drum hits.
Sir please mix breakdown
Please release your short music to spotify! I'd love to hear it out an about without having to go onto a youtube video
😉🙏 I'm working on it!
that Ibanez guitar, seems to be using 9-42 or 46 gauge.. are you using some Drop Tuning plugin or something?
It's in the description: I'm using 11-49 Elixir optiwebs in drop B. It's okay and has a nice jangly tone except for the low B which is a tad too loose to my taste. The 26.5" scale length definitely helps!
What is ur rig/setup? That’s an amazing tone/crunch
Thank you 🙏 I leave a list of the gear I use in the description box for these videos: signal chain for this one was Ibanez RGD61AL -> Horizon precision drive -> Apex preamp -> GT1000 (EQ, FXs, GGD Zilla IR) 😊
How does it compare to OKW Metal, think i prefer that from the demos i've heard so far.
This kit's tuned a bit lower and the shells are dry/punchy where the OKW metal ones sing a bit more especially the snare/toms;
OKW Architects really captures the sound of the last record from the band, thick/dry/subby without much clank.
Hermoso amigo, great job, GGD sounds amazing, but you play guitar and compose excellent, drum libraries are nothing without a good song. sorry for my bad english
Muchas gracias 🙏 GGD makes my life easier but I agree, it's only a tool among other. Thank you for the kind words!
How do you get your guitar Sound?
I need this pls😂
Apex preamp into a GGD Zilla cabs if I remember correctly, not 100% sure though!
how did you get the drums to sound this good?
Hi Garrett, they kinda sound like this out of the box! I've applied very minimal bus EQ/compression/tape saturation just to make them fit the track.
@ How would you compare Architects OKW with P4. Have You tried the older brother? I'm trying to pick a "one kit wonder" for myself, to cover most of my modern-metal flavors that I compose, and I cannot decide ffs! 😂
@@szihu PIV isn't part of the OKW series so you'd have to mix it from a more raw stock form. If your goal is to write music quickly, OKW libraries are the way to go. PIV and this OKW both capture the drum sound of the latest records from Periphery and Architects respectively: give both a listen and choose which you prefer.
I personally love the cymbal detail in PIV but never geled with the main reference kick/vk snare and I feel more or less the opposite way about OKW Architects :)
Is this a type of baritone guitar??
I don't know if it qualifies as a baritone but it's got a 26.5" scale length which really helped for lower tunings
This is nice Raoul! but next time try to record your videos in 24 fps for a more pro look or cinematic
I'm torn on the subject having experimented extensively with ratios/resolutions/framerate. I personally prefer a smooth 60fps for such play-through as you can see fingerings/patterns more clearly.
For now, my content doesn't generate enough traction for me to have to make a clear-cut decision but I get your point, it's been on my mind :)
Did you also watch that Glenn Fricker video?
@@gretathvnberg Spent a day tweaking my light/camera setup right after watching it (even though I shoot everything with my phone, there are actually in depth settings)!
@ bro, I was talking to @THRASHBOY BEATS. He basically quoted Glenn Fricker on the 24fps cinematic thing
