I can also add, Subaru of America takes care of its customers. I had a part fail, less than 50 miles past its warranty and they picked up the ENTIRE cost of the repair. I bought it for the safety and AWD, since I live in the PNW and love to go exploring.

Not me. I brought mine in 1 day after the 10 year 100k mile transmission warranty ended and they told me to go eat the $10k repair bill. They offered $2k in assistance. Luckily I had a non-factory extended warranty that covered it. It’s fine, my fault of course, but they definitely didn’t go above and beyond and said sorry bud hope you buy a better car next time. 2014 outback.

While I was waiting to see what price of purchase I was going to get for my forester……I left the showroom and went into the service area. Just struck up conversations why they bought a Subaru. Two out of the three were in bad accidents, one that ran a red light and hit her on the driver side of her Subaru. I remember her saying it was so bad, but when ems arrived they were able to open her door without the jaws of life. Both of them said they would not purchase any other vehicle. Best salespeople were in the service area 🏆🏆🏆🏆

Forgot to mention that in the event of a head on collision, the boxer engine because of its design and position in the engine compartment, will fall downward towards the ground and away from the passenger compartment thus potentially avoiding serious injuries to the occupants.

I won't go into all of the details of my wife's head-on with an old lifted K5 Blazer crossed into her lane way back when in her 1980 Subaru sedan. Yes she was injured, but that little Subbie saved her life. The engine, and at that time the spare tire was on top of the engine, dropped down without going into the passenger area keeping that lifted monster from getting in there also. I also know that an Angel was on her shoulder that day, because we are going 47 years married.

I am a huge car guy, but am an avid Toyota enthusiast who just bought their first Subaru. I had wanted a Subaru for years on end but always just went the Toyota route. When it came time for me to replace my Tacoma, I knew exactly what I wanted to purchase. I purchased a 2024 Forester Wilderness in Crystal White Pearl and I can't possibly be happier with it! I've had it for a week now, and I must say I am beyond impressed with this vehicle. This could be the start of something new. As of this moment, I own the Subaru, and two other Toyotas, but we'll see how that plays out in the future. 😉 Have also became a huge fan of your videos within the past year! A lot of it comes down to keeping up with the routine maintenance, which many people who complain about reliability and break down issues are the same ones who skip regular maintenance time after time and wonder why their cars are always broke down. Don't matter what brand you buy if you don't maintain it.

After 10 years of owning 2 different Ford Escapes (which I was perfectly happy with), in October’23 I finally bought what had become my dream vehicle - a ‘24 Outback Wilderness. Aside from the fantastic safety record that Subaru has, a major draw for me was that Subaru helps take care of the outdoors while getting their customers into the outdoors. I’m happily a new Subaru customer for life and recommend Subaru to friends who are car shopping.

Last year I sold my 2009 Subaru Forester to my younger sister for her first car. It had 220k on the odometer, and I had just done all the maintenance on it to keep it like new (axles, radiator, bushings, timing belt, etc.) Well, she ended up rolling it over 3 times because she wasn't paying attention and hit a rock that was sitting beside the road. If someone didn't see her do it, nobody would have believed it. The car's roof didn't even cave in, the windows and mirrors where all crushed. and the passenger tire was destroyed. It is totaled in my dad's backyard to this DAY, and it still runs. More importantly, my sister didn't get a scratch on her. That's why I love Subaru's.

In November I purchased a used 2019 Crosstrek for my wife. We both wanted something safer for her and I always liked Subaru. I made sure the Eyesight system was not on the car as it is a pain in the ass to calibrate since I am an auto glass installer and it takes us 2 hrs or more to calibrate the cameras with the new windshield, depending on the two camera system or the new three camera system.
Also it is easier to remove a windshield from a Subaru with the two camera eyesight system as you don’t have to remove the cameras and cover. The new three camera system is mounted onto the windshield.
I replaced a windshield in a 2023 Outback with the three camera system. 200 kms and 4 hrs later and a guy in Dallas to monitor and run the computer to communicate with the car and camera over the internet while I am in Nova Scotia, I was able to take the car back to the customer with a successful calibration.
Such a pain in the ass.
My wife is a safe driver and she feels safe in the Crosstrek, she’s happy and that’s all that matters.

The salesman would show that Toyotas were the top rated. Usually now Subaru is #1. In the 2024 April issue, Subaru is tied for #2 with a score of 80. BMW has a score of 82. I have driven more miles with loaner and rentals than 2024 Subaru Outback due to CVT transmission problem (Code P0974) and bad gasket. First time it happened was less than 500 miles and dealer said it was a fluke. The second time we were on a trip and it had less than 2100 miles. The second dealer was very concerned and fixed the problems but we were without car for 30 days. Subaru has covered all costs but now we decide trips based on Subaru dealers, not something you want to do with brand new car. This is our second Outback; but probably the last.

I've driven Legacy's since 2000. They're not too big, not too small. And here in the rural midwest you don't necessarily need an off road vehicle to get around but you can have plenty of excitement on our roads. Gravel roads that are more mud than road in the spring, snow drifts, ruts, ice, you name it. Not to mention bitter cold.

Unfortunately, she didn’t get to drive it but once because she passed away. My dad loves it though. $48K for a car would be crazy, unless one is buying a luxury car. A huge meltdown in the auto industry is coming. Too many people are tapped-out for currency to buy anything these days. A hit the wall moment is coming. Repos are way -way up. In regard to Subaru safety, yes indeed, based on the data at Death Rates on Cars, and Insurance Payments data, they are pretty safe, with the Outback being top of the list. My concerns are: 1) recurring cracked windshields 2) oil consumption 3) direct injection carbon build-up 4) battery drain issues. With the latest cars on the market, when people have issues with excessive oil consumption, they claim it is normal and thus you are stuck. It seems as though the huge monitor on the dash controls the whole operation in the car -- what is the cost to replace those? I wish EyeSight, which has also had issues, was an option. Every replaced windshield means a trip to the dealership to recalibrate that EyeSight -- what a pain that would be -- and what a cost. The new Forester looks great! Will they be taking $4K off the '24 models now? My concerns about these cars still give me pause. And why did RUclips place lines through my text???

I worked with a guy who was an engineer on the ANCAP vehicle crash testing program in Australia. He said that Subaru was the only company that sent engineers from the factory(Japan) to witness the Oz crash results. Subaru fully knew what the results would be as they had already carried out identical tests at the factory. So safety was and is number one with this company. The engineer owned a Subaru. This was about 2005 when I worked in road safety. I can recall visiting a Ford dealership and asking about ANCAP ratings for their vehicles. The salesman didn't know what I was talking about. LOL.

Just traded in my 2013 Crosstrek with 170,000 miles because it was end of life. The cost to repair it would be several times more than it was worth. The engine was dying because Subaru used glue instead of gaskets to hold the engine together. They did fix the CVT though on warranty. The Crosstrek averaged 21 MPG and and oil was just disappearing every 1,500 miles. The radio speakers rattled and the driver seat literally wore out. The road noise was getting pretty bad also. Otherwise, it was a good SUV for the first 150,000 miles but that's about it. I replaced it with a Toyota Corolla Cross hybrid with all wheel drive and actually get 42 MPG and is substantially faster than the Crosstrek.

Hey have just gotten a Subaru Outback, the 2.5 model not the 2.4 Turbo. One of the buying points is of the safety features. Coming from a 2000 model Toyota RAV 4, safety features was of importance to me as I am starting to need to transport my elderly parents to places( the ground clearance also helps them) I also wanted to be able to cart my bicycle around without the need of some sort of rack, to get to cycling events. So the outback is perfect. I admit it is a learning experience and curve , going from basically analogue, mechanical linkages to what is drive by wire. I also think personally the 2.5 non Turbo has enough grunt/ power.

I have my 2nd Outback. The dealer has been great - fixed two, out of warranty (leaking right rear shock, and the Plastic like panel on the drivers seat simply split. Thanks for that. But a really BAD system is the StarLink does NOT turn off when the car is not running. This drains the battery, and I have had to put three new batteries on my 2019 Subaru Outback. The only thing Subaru could do was nothing. I finally told them to make the StarLink inoperative (unfortunally, that turned off the speakers on the top of the dash, near the windshield, AND no longer could use hands free bluetooth cell phone. I have seen several "fixes" that are on RUclips, but Subaru seems to just ignore this problem. The dealer also blamed this on me, saying that the back hatch was not fully latched. Later I learned that the module for the back hatch was to blame (again only learned that from RUclips). When the latch supposedly doesn't latch, the worthless little light bulb in the roof back there would not turn off. I removed the light bulb . This is a terrible problem. You go on a trip, leaving the car in the huge, dark parking lot at the Air Terminal for a week or so, you come back to a DEAD BATTERY. Hopefully they have fixed this problem. If you are hand you can fix this yourself. But not Subaru. NOT GOOD.

From France: from 2015 to 2019, I had the pleasure of driving a Subaru Forester 2.0D (disel) with the Lineartronic gearbox. 72000 km without any problem. An engaging, comfortable vehicle, with high habitability and brightness.
I was very satisfied with it. So why did you sell it? Simply because Subaru having stopped (a big mistake, here in Europe:) producing the 2.0D, their cars, particularly in France, are subject to a very high penalty (plus thousands of €!!) which means that no one anymore doesn't buy them and their sales are now almost zero. Subaru is therefore disappearing in France, selling only a few units, and that's a shame.
Subaru owners do not understand this hasty decision by Subaru to remove this Diesel engine, which can be compared to pure and simple commercial suicide.

I bought a new Subaru Impreza 2023 because of its safety record. My only issue was no standard maintenance under warranty is included. Not an oil change, tire rotation, nothing. They will wash it for free but that is the only free item you get during the warranty part of ownership. Donating to good causes is admiral, but no free perks is a downer. I didnt even get one "free perk" added in to the price of my Vehicle. I bought my up grade trim without a single perk. I bought winterize floor matts, door trims and mud flaps. I was so set on a Subaru that I didn't take into count that they offer nothing as a free incentive. They slso forgot my door guards and didnt tell me about the error. With no invoice i couldn't tell., what I actually paid for my "extras". I hope and pray my Subaru lasts as long as my last car which was 25 years and 57, 000 miles. Wish me luck! ☘️

Sorry to hear about your experience! Subaru's have among one of the best prices on new cars and they do a great job at not over-inflating the prices. Especially over the last few years like we have seen many other brands do. "Free" perks always come at a cost. brands and dealers that offer these free perks often times come in the form of higher dealer fees so you end up paying for them without even realizing. As an example, a local competing dealer to ours offers 2 years of oil changes. Sounds like a lot but in reality it's about $400 dollars in value. Their dealer fee is also 400 more than ours so they make up for it on the back-end. 2 years of oil changes sounds great at a glance. I'd much prefer a lower purchase price with the freedom and flexibility to pay for the extras like the maintenance plans vs having it forced upon me. As a side note, I work for a dealership that provides the first oil change/tire rotation for free. Regardless of this, I'm sure you'll enjoy many years out of your Impreza!
