and overall a very enjoyable episode and also imo a very interesting one since it seems to set up A LOT of things for the future! =)

That less than a minute battle with Pikachu & Soulblades genuinely had some of the best animation since the XY days. Looking forward to see more in the rest of this series!

where the villains learn their lessons from the battle and the MC also knows deception at that age & using the fact that she cant win, to her advantage.

Something else to point out. Despite this already being Friede and Amethio's 3rd battle, there's still no clear winner. In fact, battle-wise, Amethio seemed to actually be winning the battle against Captain Pikachu, though it is debatable because Friede was just stalling for time. Either way, it goes to show that the Explorers are an actual threat and not like the Rocket Trio where they are just always "blasting off" every episode. Instead, it's the Volt Tacklers that are running away.

I couldn't really finish Sun&Moon or Journeys.
This anime feels more mature and I'm so glad that after XY&Z I can finally feel excited about the pokemon anime again every week.

Sun and moon was great it was just very different but I see what u mean I thought that way for awhile too before I rewatched it this is definitely different which is a good thing it’s looking good so far animation looks amazing

Seems I can find a character in the pokemon anime to click with on a personal level again, haven't felt that way in seven years, liko has so much potential I'm hyped to see where she goes
I really like the Molly scene where she sends Liko to go shopping on her own. It was an effort to get her to come out of her shell a bit. Molly didn't get a lot of character development throughout the first few episodes, but one thing we can assume is that she's going to act as an older sister figure to Liko which makes me pretty excited to see more of her
I liked that Molly gave Liko something to do. She made her feel useful and trusted, and let her focus on something else then her recently kidnapped partner
Pokémon looks like they are REALLY trying with this anime and so help me that gives me some faith in humanity! It’s early to tell but they’re off to a roaring start!
yepp! since they finally dropped their main protagonist after 26 years it makes sense they're trying to make it as appealing as possible. and honestly i liko-ed what i've seen so far~
It is possible that the Paldea treasure hunt could be a plotline for liko's goal.
I guess it's for Roy since he's drawn in treasure hunting, remember when he saw the flag of volt rising tacklers he's so fascinated about it
Wait if liko's mom hired them to be liko's bodygaurd,does it mean she's some big figure?or does she know what the pendant is and knows it's capabilities?
When I heard that I immediately thought that it was sus. My theory is that she is a villain like Arvin's mother and wants the pendant that Riko's grandma refused to give her.

Thought:
-pink haired girl could have a connection with nurse joys. She didn't want to enter the pokemon center and waited for Riko outside. Kinda sus.
- Voltekers being hired as bodyguards by Riko's mum is kinda sus too. That means she understands Riko's situation. Wouldn't surprise me if she ends up being a villain.
-Explorers don't feel like bad guys. Maybe they actually a good team.
Alot of people think of that sus, while to me it's just her making Liko stand on her own and communicate with people, while also thinking of the potential that a trainer like the Vulpix's trainer will show up to give message to Liko.
Because that's what's usually done with characters having a hard time communicating in other animes.
I have a theory, that weird moment when Molly let Liko go fetch for the potions... I think Molly, is nurse Joy. I thought of this because many details from her design kinda hint she is one. Her pink hair and how it's a bit similar on how nurse Joys ties their hair, and on her jacket she has chansey design at the back. I reckon she might be nurse Joy in training but somewhat quit, or she flunked out from being one. I don't know yet the reason why she did. But I'm confident it's somewhat connected to them as a group, the Volt Tacklers.

She's very relatable as an introvert and that's pretty cool.
I liked that this episode characterized Conia and showed that the Explorers are more competent than the Team Rocket trio. I'm giving this episode a 10/10.

Anyways, time for me to go off (king):
▫️In just 3 episodes, Pokemon Horizons has made me want to get invested in EVERY major character (yes, even Ludlow), the mystery of that pendant (and the mysterious Pokeball but we're not there yet.), and just the world building that's already there and continuing. And it looks like after Roy joins the crew inevitability, next stop is Liko's house in Paldea I guess. XD
▫️I love certain aspects of this episode even when it's not being told to us directly. For one, it's that Amethio and his Ceruledge are absolutely top tier opponents even putting Friede in a little corner on the roof. HOWEVER, Friede knew that this outcome wouldn't matter as long as Liko and Sprigatito escaped and the whole fight was just a light show at this point. Lol. But on the OTHER HAND, Zir threw some kind of device on the Brave Asagi before it would take off (so Amethio might have gotten the last one up on the Rising Volt Tacklers)
▫️I said Liko was already looking to be one of my favorite Pokémon characters but episode 3 REALLY cemented that. When it comes to Sprigatito, her wanting to jump into the warehouse to save it is quite reckless but understandable. I like the little bit of parent to child dynamic Friede and Liko had this episode.
▫️Interesting that Molly didn't want to go into the Pokémon Center herself but instead made Liko do it. 😂 On one hand, it's interesting to have Liko in a situation where she DOES have to do something alone (might come up later) but on the other hand, isn't this kind of strange? XD
▫️Conia is the most ADORKABLE evil team grunt lady since Jesse of Team Rocket and I am LOVING THAT. Completely threw me off as i was watching the episode. XD
▫️Friede once again NOT explaining to Liko about who these guys are (or that Liko's Mom hired them) until of course the end of this episode, making them "appear as a suspicious gang" (as Orla put it). Indeed... NOT. COOL.
▫️Yep. Their handshake is GOOFY as hell. XD But I don't hate it??
▫️People always forget to ask HOW IS QUAXLY? Is Quaxly OKAY? 😅😂
▫️Damn, how strong is Liko that she could just BUST DOWN THE DOOR? XD
▫️ Nice to see Roy show up at the end and it looks like the Brave Asagi Flag ended up over on that remote island. 😮

I saw Japanese polls with many votes on who they prefer amongst Liko/Amethio Liko/Roy Liko/Friede (why is that there!?) And Liko/Amethio won by a landslide everytime, Friede one coming second which is soo weird

It's just when I saw it that's the first thing I thought of.
The fist is the Pokeball throw, the claw is the ball opening, then it closes, the toss up is the trainer tossing the Pokeball in the air in triumph.
I found Liko's grandmother to have an Arcanine interesting, it makes me wonder if this Pokemon will get something new in the DLC, or if was it just a random choice.

Honestly, I love Horizons thus far, and I especially love Riko, I care about her a lot more than Ash, as she's a lot more well written, but I'm very scared that they mess her character up.
I'm very scared that her pendant will make her too OP, as it's able to protect her from any attack and make her Pokemon's attacks a lot stronger. When she learns how to use it, she could be unstoppable, and that's not a good thing in terms of writing.
I hope they'll find their way around that because I really want this anime to be good.
Just going to say that Pokemon Main Protagonists being done right has been happening since the Adventures manga started

It looks like blue hair is hereditary in Liko's family {which will kill people's supposed theories that Liko is Ash & Serena's child}. Loved Liko's grandmother has an Arcanine!!!! Honestly, Friede kinda gives off the irresponsible & impulse kind-of character (and one would forget based on these episodes that he's actually a professor; honestly it's sorta like kukui, but I'm not sure in this case that's a good thing). I still can't believe their handshake is tossing a Pokeball though.

Yeah, we've seen both Ash's mom AND Serena's mom, and neither of them share any similarities. Liko being Serena's daughter is debunked.
However, we don't actually KNOW where Ash went to school, do we? It's (unfortunately) still possible that Liko is Ash's daughter and he just married someone with blue hair (can't be Dawn as she was raised in Sinnoh afaik, so she couldn't go to Indigo Academy). Liko never specified if the grandma she talks about is from her dad or mom's side
@@crocokuo That would stand to reason then it would have to be a female character that has blue hair and blue eyes, as well as have to have been a character that is from the Kanto region.
Also I'm not sure if it counts for anything to take the school subject towards Ash's regard for a possibility theory; especially since ash technically dropped out/withdrew of school in alola to travel the world
@@MarcusMapua well, not necessarily for the blue eyes/hair part, as blue eyes are recessive, and presumably blue hair as well, since black and brown hair are apparently still dominant. If Ash and his partner are both heterozygous for black/brown hair and black/brown eyes, there's a 25% chance they could have a blue eyed, blue hair daughter, even if they don't necessarily have blue eyes and blue hair. But I'm reading into it too much lol
As for the school thing, I was talking more about before he set off for adventure in Kanto. I'm sure he had SOME education in ages 0-10 (though sometimes it's a little hard to believe lmao). Since we don't know what age group the Indigo Academy takes, it's possible (though it definitely looks like it's made towards older kids). Just hypotheticals

3. Was it only me or were you kind of disappointed that they only decided to let her join the team because that's just part of their job? I thought it was going to be more authentic but apparently it's all about the money😂😂 it doesn't really affect anything but it's just kind of sad just knowing that this was the reason.
I don't know, I find it a bit refreshing to see that sort of goal-driven mindset more than just "goodness of heart", which is already very common in the Pokemon universe. The crew needs money to fund their mission, so it makes sense that they would prioritize that over taking in random new members.
Maybe the pendant acts like terra crystal that powers up the Pokémon’s same type move.
That's what I was thinking. Something similar to the tera crystals you get in game, but in this case of course you have the major difference that the pendant seems to be housing a different form of Terapagos rather than just being fashioned from tera shards. I'm really excited to see where they go with it :)
I guess this proves she'sn't Ash's daughter, because that grandma didn't look like Delia or Grace at all.
Honestly I do have to say that episode was pretty good and I feel the way you said that it's basically like Serena when she was trying to do her goals was kind of fascinating to think about it all-in-all I can't wait for the next episode 10/10

I finally watched Pokémon Horizon and it was good. It was interesting! Liko finally got Sprigatito and got her answers on why the Friede and his crew were looking for her. They were hired by Liko’s mother to protect Liko from the Explorers. Although why Friede and the others didn’t go to the Principles Office at the school to have her come there to meet them and explain everything instead of just looking for her around school I have clue. That was kinda stupid, but it to late for that. Now they got Liko safe on their ship. Sort Of! Friede thankfully is a seems to be a good, Although he’s kind of an idiot for not telling Liko on their way to his ship! He seem to bee the type of person who doesn’t think to much when it comes to most Situation. Thankfully he’s helped Liko get back Sprigatito. The battles were great and much better then in the Previous series. The Explorers are really want that Pendant Liko has and Amethio really seem like he’ll do anything to get it. Although I don’t understand why he wants Liko too and
What does Amethio mean the Treasure is useless on it own. “ ? Liko was willing to give it to him for Sprigatito so why didn’t he just take it? I’d he not thinking clearly or their something else going on that he knows that we don’t know? I got the feeling that Friede knows something too! Well what it is, Liko and others aren’t going to give it to him now. Also how could have the Explorers known Where the pendant was and who has it? Well Liko and Springtito have joined the crew and their off to figure out the mystery of the Pendant. As well the many other mysteries of the Pokémon World. Look like they’ll be meeting Roy and he’ll be going to joining them in the next episode Pokémon Horizons is a interesting series of far and it’s got me excited for Pokémon again! I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next!

i guess Quaxly is on the airship bc the "youtuber" is flying with them. We´ve seen that the youtuber has a quaxly and 2 of the same starter pokemon in one pokemon anime plotline has never occured i think
I'm still on the fence about this - after this episode I got the feeling like a very medicore movie was over, so the next episodes after this introduction will probably show what direction the series will take in general. Again, in principle I'd love for them to keep this non-episodic structure up, but I have my doubts if they're able to keep it interesting for a longer time.
But still, the foundations are definitely solid so far, with a few ugly flaws (SO much Kanto! 🤮). I'm positively surprised how much I like the crew (Friede least of all), including the Alola-Guy. He's just a chill, friendly dude (with another overused Pokemon, but at least that one is only 2 generations old), makes you wonder how cool Sun&Moon could have been without the drugs.
But I'm still not very eager to simply see some random adventures, and the preview for next episode didn't exactly get me excited.. yay, a special Pokeball ...
And I disagree hard on the part about Ash. The problem wasn't a vague goal, the problem was that they f*ed up his development. If they'd managed to make his way to the titles more consistent, it would have actually felt like meaningful milestones on his way - and that's besides the point that not defining what a Pokemon Master is for 20 years, was absolutely their fault. No one would have complained if they'd simply defined Cynthia as the one Ash had to surpass (actually they did do that and then forgot about it, and yes, I'm still salty about that. Never forgive, never forget!) And even without a clearly defined goal, him making some actual changes over time would have been enough! (as with basically everything concerning character development, I can very much recommend Haikyuu!! on how to have a relatively open end that is still satisfying)
On the other Hand, Serena's Goal became even more abstract at the end of Kalos, and it still was meaningful simply because it followed from what happened before, not like Ash who just did the same sh*t over and over again, until the world was dumbed down enough for him to win.
The baseline is: It's all about the execution. And while I'm still careful about getting my hopes up, I'm still invested enough in Liko to see how they treat her ... let's hope she follows after Serena, and not Ash or Koharu.

Dai Sato is overseeing the scripts, episode 3 writer never worked in Pokemon but worked with Dai Sato in another anime. So Dai Sato seems to be the one choosing the writers so far. And I trust him on that he was in charge of overseeing scripts and even writing for animes like Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Eureka Seven, Wolf's Rain and other animes. So I trust him to hire the right writers and give us a good story

I do not want Roy. It's going so well. Aside from some rushed establishing scenes in episode 1 and nebulous dialogue from Liko, this is actually enjoyable unlike other series that I couldn't even force myself to watch. But Roy is looking to be extremely invasive and generic to how fresh this all is.

Her Pokémon are her only allies
Plus she has a bitter rivalry with Roy, a rival that reminds me of silver from Pokémon gold and silver and bede from Pokémon sword and shield
We wish the best for her and hope she can defeat them all

They wasted no time in debunking Liko being Ash and Serena’s (or any other Pokegirl’s) daughter because Liko said her parents both went to Seikei Academy in Kanto (Don’t say it could be Ash and Misty) and her grandma is just a completely new character.

As much as I love Horizons, it's indeed sounds better if they'll change characters every series.
But Volt Tacklers is a team that solbes mysteries, it's likely they'll just go with the route of introducing new mystery after one.

I’m absolutely in love with this anime and Liko, maybe more than the original and Ash. I know bold statement but let me explain. I totally freak out when they show that Liko’s grandmother has an Arcanine, my favorite Pokémon but that not why I freaked out. I have original character (a character I made up) with her own Pokemon adventure. Her partner Pokemon is Arcanine just like Liko’s grandmother. But that not all, Liko’s grandmother saying “you need find the first step into your adventure” is exactly what my character would say to someone like her granddaughter perhaps. It’s a long story but my character goal is travel around the world meeting new friends/Pokemon. She wasn’t allowed by her parents, so never went adventure until she met someone and with that person with Arcanine she was able to take her first step running away from home and into her adventure. Other coincidence that Liko might be Liko’s grandmother is that my character name also starts with “L” with 4 letters. Her name is Lyra. Also since the Rising Volt Tacklers is hired to Liko’s bodyguard, that means Liko parents is rich. Lyra also rich. She live s in the mansion in Kalos. With all these coincidences, at least in my headcannon Liko is my original character granddaughter, which means Liko is like my granddaughter and I love her like she is.
Liko is a better character in 2 episodes than Ash was in all of the anime.
I think we should wait before making that claim

I hope that will be the case after 10 episodes or so. I’ve seeing a lot of scenes here that is from the special preview. I’m really hoping they weren’t in a moment that they don’t have a choice but to put something to fill out an episode(in other words,unnecessary fillers) because they ran out of great ideas.
