I like this episode, sometimes, you need a bonding episode as well, also, I may not be an Orla simp but she is one of my favorite character.
I actually enjoyed this episode. If it wasn't for half of it being a recap episode, I would've loved it.

Even though the EP was a bit of a filler & somewhat a recapper, it felt kinda nice for a bit of character growth development. For Ex: it was interesting to learn that the Brave Asagi was originally just Ludlow's fishing boat (then Friede gave the order to attach a Zeppelin atop of it & make it an airship); and showcasing that the kids of the crew are starting to grow. And Long is so far from what I've seen is the only poketuber that reviewed this episode positively in a likeable manner, And I'm SO happy for it!!!

My S.o. hadnt seen a Horizons episode to this point, so this was a great jumping in point for her with this semi-recap episode!
Roy's sandwich isn't an abomination. It's just a Scooby-Doo special that Scooby and Shaggy regularly unhinge their jaws to eat in one bite. 😅

I actually enjoyed this episode. Despite half of it being a recap episode, I liked seeing the Rising Volt Tacklers have a picnic, Dot getting a little more development, and Spinel making his move. I’m giving this episode a 5/10.
I am still demanding an Orla centric episode ASAP. Anyways, I liked this chill episode too, the rising voltaclers need a break too.
It’s so funny and interesting how people react differently to some episodes cause before watching this, I knew that many in the community hated the episode so I had low expectations. But it wasn’t bad at all? I enjoyed it, despite it being filler ish and also basically a recap. Looking forward to them going to Galar tbh!
You're certainly not the only one who likes this episode, because to ME,this is a 7/10 episode! These are the kind of episodes I like to watch. I love the amount of family vibes from the entire crew,from orla behaving like a mommy to liko and roy,to old man ludlow making sandwiches with dotty,dude! The writers knew what they were doing with this episode.
Also the flashbacks or recaps make sense since, you know, it's been 2 weeks so the writers probably want to keep us on our toes. It looks like we both like to look at certain parts of an episode from a wider angle.

It was a clip show which is a shame after a break but it does seem to be leading to someone getting Wattrel
It was an okay episode (kinda the closest we've had to filler thus far, which is kinda impressive for the anime that it took that long.) Hopefully the Wattrel buildup leads to him catching it, and I liked seeing Spinel finally making his move. Hopefully he's even more of a threat than Amethio was.
I think this is a case of right episode, wrong timing. A lot of anime have what I call cool down episodes. Where after a big arc, or major plot developments, the anime takes a episode or 2, to wind down a bit, before talking the next major event. All the reviews I seen for this episode are about how it feels pointless, and this is what we got after a 3 week brake. Had this episode came out the week after the last episode, I think people will be a lot softer on this episode.
no, but there aren't many of us... i think that will change after a while....it was the first break in the series (even if only a couple weeks) and we were left with a cliff hanger (who is the evil guy) and the last thing we saw was a preview of what is next, so when we didn't get Iono, Friede terrastalizing Charizard, or even a battle and possible capture of Wattrel (still believe Roy is going to capture Wattrel, and if it has Volt absorb, maybe be useful in the nest episode, which looks more action packed, maybe Wattrel absorbing magneton's electricity while carrying Fuecoco who shoots ember and stomping tantrums the magneton? maybe?)....it was a set up/recap episode...no big deal, but if ypou believed all that was going to happen in this episode, before going to Galar...well i can see why "the picnic episode" would be disappointing
i will say (since i watch episodes untranslated), i thought the picture of Nidothing and Ludlow was Liko watching the show and freaking out as to how Ludlow got on the show, but i can't wait for english translations

I honestly do agree with you, as I do enjoy the episode. This episode isn't that bad or pointless, as it is a calm way to build up other characters withou screaming "ACTION!!!" or "catch new pokemon" in the episode. The fandom seriously has this weird fascination of anipoke should never have any fillers or recap, and any episode that has a filler/recap = bad. Sure, this episode is a recap after a 3 week break (which is why there is a recap in the first place), but it is done in a way that you should watch it for character interactions and growth. Whether the fandom likes it or not, Horizons' characters are written with a slow burn in mind, and it is a decent one too unlike... Journeys (RIP Koharu). Does anyone remember how bad the actual recap episodes of Pokemon Journeys? Now those are freaking terrible with NOTHING happening in there, unlike here where there are some new information of the cast revealed and bonding moments.

I loved this episode, but everyone else I listened to did not like it. They criticized the animation. My response to that however is that it is fully reasonable for them to cut corners for this episode bc the staff just came back from summer vacation. Plus, NOT every episode needs to have gorgeous animation. This was not an action episode, or a battle episode or even an important episode so it did not need great animation. I feel that bc of what happened during the masters 8 people are watching the production of this series under a microscope and looking for any reason to shout out "PRODUCTION ISSUES".
A thing i hope, would be good if they made liko sprigatito take more time to evolve than roy, since that would make total sense
Most(if not every) episodes has good and bad aspects. We can’t evade that. It’s normal. The more important is to make up those weak points later on.
Have to say Dot is more introverted than me. She also has the perfect VA especially if you have seen the other series she's been in

Without having seen the episode, because busy right now and and it doesn't really seem worth the time, already having a recap segment in Episode13 is not a good sign. As if the story or characters were that complex at this point ...
And the efforts to work with the characters are commendable ... but yeah, we get it, Dot is a Neet and they're trying to lure her with food ... this is just a variation of what we already had, hardly worth that much runtime ...
as for Roy ... foreshadowing is neat, but it should not foreshadow something that every viewer at the age of 6 can see from miles away.
But while I'm not a Fan of the singing either, especially if it's used too repetitively, at least they're consistent with it.
And the empathy-stuff also seems pretty bumpy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see a connection between the scene in the Gym and this, except for the general theme of empathy. But there was no moment where Roy realized he should be more empathetic, he just is now.
There has to be more than "character did x, and at then he did not x", the steps need to be connected.
So, still, it's nice to them try again, but they seem to have forgotten how to do it.
And I'm pretty sure I said it before, but seeing XY-Clips just hurts my soul ... we were so close to greatness ... so close ...
On the other hand, do things need to be complex to be interesting? I've seen this kind of debate between simplicity and complexity so much that I really had a hard time understanding what is justified depending on the type of media. It is just exhausting when debating if things should be complex or simple.
As for Roy, yeah, it can get a little annoying with his singing shtick and hope it does go somewhere, but I still kinda like Roy from what we saw of him. I kinda find his childish and naivete behavior a little endearing at times. Maybe it's because of his voice or child-like mannerisms, I don't know. And
I do like his happy-go-lucky and headstrong personality much more than Ash and Goh. I don't know why, but compared to Roy, I find Ash and Goh to be more obnoxious compared to Roy. Maybe it's because of what Journeys did to them that made me dislike them even more, but it's probably that. I just hope Roy is more developed as time goes on and that everything should be in order behind the scenes.
