This is one of the best episodes and the new villains are powerful so I'm enjoying pokemon horizons!
Episode was great. As for your problem with the power scaling, I think it was rather consistent. Friede had to terastalize because he was ambushed. What's more Spinel is called a coward by one of the other explorers. That's his style, staying far away and it was the same for his pokemon.
No matter how ya feel about the episode or how you rate it, I think we can all agree that the STANCE of Liko, Roy, and Dot staring down the Beeheeyem and Magneton while their hairs and outfits are blowing in the wind is RAW AS FUCK.
Like I said in my review:I wasn't really that keen on the 3 newbies going up against a boss lvl trainer..... But as soon as the animation started I couldn't help but to get excited!

Even if it wasn't a love confession, it was framed like one, which is really nice.
Definitely one of the best episodes, Dots development, the animation and battles, plus showing all the new and upcoming villains. Fantastic stuff

I would’ve never expected the anime to establish Dot as a main character!! I genuinely did not see that coming. I was expecting her to develop of course, but with this latest episode they have made sure to show that it’s not Liko and Roy…it’s gonna be Liko, Roy and Dot from now on! And I’m very pleasantly surprised😍Quaxly is fantastic, I absolutely love its personality.
I can't wait to see more of liko, roy and dot in pokemon horizons!
Tbh I also didn't really expect it but in hindsight it somewhat makes sense for her to play a more major role with her having a starter. I know having a starter doesn't automatically mean that you should be a mc, but it does help ^^
I kinda figured it would happen as soon as I realized she was partnered with Quaxly. After all, there are three starters, the other two belong to main characters, so it makes sense they'd develop the third child with a starter in to a main character too.
That said, this was definitely Dot's arc. Each villain seems to have a main party member counterpart. So far, Amethio feels like a foil to Friede, while Spinel is much more of a foil for Dot. This arc was designed to push Dot out of her comfort zone and get her in to the team, so I imagine she might take a half step back and stand alongside the rest of the cast now that we concluded her first big arc.
She's still going to be very important going forward, and the arc did an excellent job establishing her as a third main character.
In short Dot learned to touch grass and told Liko she is actualy her favorite totaly not V-tuber XD

If I'm not mistaken, the fight sequence is actually made by ufotable studio (by the same staff as Demon Slayer)...maybe that's why the animation is so good
Really? I just looked up the individuals behind it and from what I have seen most of them did some few scenes of pokemon and maybe a Lil bit of one piece. But I will probably double check that
Some Ufotable staff took part in animating this episode, Idk if it's happened before but I definitely never expected to see a pokemon episode done by them.
Especially since Horizons is so new.
I'd argue Magneton and Beheeyem are more trap and surprise pokemon than outright battlers like Spinel's umbreon, so them being beaten by Liko and the other rookies make sense.
Also Friede didn't really struggle against Beheeyem itself, it gave him and charizard a hard time because of Magneton and being surprise attacked. Beheeyem held Charizard with psychic while it was distracted by Magneton hitting it with electric attacks from the opposite side, basically double teaming him and they had caught him and Friede of guard.
Friede having to use Tarastalizing (which is more of a strategic gimmick) was more to get out of the difficult situation rather than the power of their opponents at the time, it was the strategy Spinel employed that gave Friede so much trouble rather than Beheeyem itself being strong.
In that regard I don't think there's an issue with power scaling since it's clear Umbreon is a much stronger battler than Magneton and Beheeyem who seem more for utility and strategy than being direct battlers.

That was my interpretation too. I don't think Spinel is that strong a trainer (though his Umbreon may be legit), but instead is a master of preplanned tactics and deception. It felt like Charizard was wayyyy stronger than either Beheeyem or Magneton alone, Spinel just figured out a way to exploit Charizard's weakness in a 2v1 battle in an enclosed space, and as soon as Friede terrastalized, the strategy didn't work anymore, and Spinel had no shot of taking the battle without it.
Essentially, I view Spinel as a paper tiger. He is a master of deception and strategy, but that's both his biggest strength and his biggest weakness. The moment his strategy goes wrong, he doesn't have the raw strength or ingenuity to easily overcome tight spots. So in that sense, he can punch way above his weight level in terms of defeating trainers much stronger than him, but also can lose when he's surprised by something from a trainer who's weaker than him.

Am I the only one who lowkey ships Liko and Dot?? I know that they’re kids so I don’t mean it in a weird way, but their whole story & development together has such great chemistry and sweet moments!! This episode especially had me loving them as a duo so I really hope they at least become besties jfjshskfjsjfsk

I feel like the reason why the beginners were able to do well was because Spinel was underestimating them
Could be true, but then again he spyed on them for days so he probably had a good idea of what their skills are
@@PokemonRangerBoy12Beheeyem and Magneton were only used for strategic measures. They never gave the same amount of power that Umbreon gave. If they were strong enough then they would’ve beaten the gang. Also lets not downplay Friede. Could you Imagine being controlled by someone else while your getting hit by attacks? Charizard isn’t weak, Friede only used tera to get out of the predicament.
Just like how Roy caught Wattrel, Are Liko and Dot going to catch some powerful Pokémon from the Galar region?

Let's hope so. And that their first catches will be a lot better than Wattrel; as from what we can see the little bird is annoyingly stubborn. Most character pokemon we've seen in the anime have shown stubbornness before due to being drawn from such as being overpoweringly stronger than others, likes to be a battling roughhouser, or had bad emotional history/experiences; but with Wattrel, the little guy just seems to be plainly stubborn

Such a great episode. I expected that Dot would tell Liko her secret eventually but dang I didn’t expect it to be at the end of the episode. That’s great. I wonder if Liko is now going to idolize Dot as well.
Oh, that Kaiden and Fuecoco thing was a mistake? I thought that was Roy's strategy.
It was meant to be a combo attack, but Wattrel just went ahead to use Peck on Roy's command by springboarding off Fuecoco, which made it mad and fired Ember off to hit it but it dodged & hit Magneton instead. From what we've seen, the little bird is annoyingly stubborn. Most pokemon characters we've seen in the anime have shown stubbornness before due to being drawn from things such as being overpowering strong, likes to be a battling roughhouser, stronger personalities, or had bad emotional history/experiences; but with Wattrel, the little guy just seems to be plainly stubborn in general
I know that it's just fan theory but I just realized that one of the elite Explorers members looks very similar to Ann (Oshawott's trainer) in terms of appearance.

I was really hoping Liko would terrastilize Sprigatito through her pendant or something.
I hope that through this adventure she'll get closer to finding a goal, or become interested in battles.
🤦 Liko's Pendent is a Tera Gem which it's not a Tera Orb which a Tera Orb allows the Pokemon to Terrastalize!
Look at Liko's Pendent more carefully because it's back is pressed into the unusual shape on the Front of the Tera Orb which the Tera Orb opens up so Liko's Pendent goes inside of it to unlock the Special Tera Form!

I just thought her pendant and that Pokémon are still very mysterious, (What I mean is the Story hasn't revealed everything about it yet) so maybe it has the power to terrastilize Pokémon.
I mean it is to an extend up to the writers what they do with it.
Who would of thought a popular streamer would become part a main trio, genius idea.
Maybe Riko, Roy, and Dot managed to defeat Beheeyem and Magneton because Spinel underestimated them and didn't give his all unlike against Friede, which allowed them to surprise him since he looked down on them.

What's the best thing about this episode and who do you think is the best character?
With the intro of the rest of the Explorer Admins, we can't really assume these new admins' pokemon yet based on only their names & looks {the only technical exception was Amethio, but Spinel kinda broke that pairing theory with his pokemon}. Onyx seems like a Power-type enforcer Admin Pokemon Trainer & Coral has a punk-like feel to her so I kinda feel like hers could maybe be affiliated towards a Poison-type partner; only Agate I can't get a feel for her pokemon affinity
What was up with Spinel and that Beheeyem in this episode? What are they going to be like in future episodes?

While Liko’s thoughts of how she had caused trouble for the others was interrupted, I’m really hoping that she has a takeaway from this arc that she needs to get stronger and it leads to development for her as a trainer

Was really great episode if we take out the plot holes with the battles, but the animation was just amazing. I really thought dot will confess her maybe in more later episode that she is actually gurumin i really didn't expect she is doing in early episodes. lol Btw the female villain char with pink hair seems to become popular, after watching the episode i saw her fanarts pop out around internet. xD
What's up with the pendant? Is Spinel going to be kidnapping Liko to unlock everything about the pendant?

Tera Orb and Tera Gem aka Liko's Pendent are connected which the front of the Tera Orb is the exact same shape of Liko's Pendent which both have 6 Sides!
Don't tell me that you didn't notice that because it was straight up obvious to begin with!🤷👌

Looking forward to seeing Spinel in the future now that he knows Liko is the key to the pendant. I really love how cunning and dangerous he's shown to be.
Also, love the new admins too, all we have to see now is Gibeon!
Liko processing what Dot just said and her scream when she it hits her what Dot just said is priceless. (I know the gag about her being oblivious to Dot's true identity has rubbed some people the wrong way, that they carried it on too long, but if I could compare a similar joke from Ghost Game with Espimon thinking his future partner Hiro was a fake because he hadn't synced with him, at least this lasted a much shorter time. The Espimon gag lasted over 20wks.)
Also, gotta say, it's impressive they had Ufotable helping out this episode. The art and animation are stunning! ❤

Ya I agree there were significant power scaling issues. Power scaling issues are inevitable when you have antagonists this powerful and competent this early in the series when the main characters still being beginners (which never happened before in pokemon). The only way to avoid power scaling issues in this scenario is to have Fried do most of the battling, but without him, there is this issue.

I understand what you mean. But at the same time. I have this feeling that spinel was so annoyed by his tactics being deatroyed by beginner trainers. Because instead of training power for his two pokemon. He trained coordination. Friede just did the same thing. Destroyed his stradegy and won. The only pokemon that was really a powerhouse from him is umbreon. Who promptly put all of them in their place.
But i agree with zirk and conia. They must be rookie trainers assigned to amethio or something.
Maybe Magneton and Beheeyem were tired from there battle with Charizard.
Their battle was at best 2 days ago, so I doubt that.
Uh... all this arc happen in the span of a day... from episode 14 to 16 is the same day, so after that battle at minimum have passed just some hours.
@@il3fortunato664 Please watch episode 14 again. After Friede's battle against Spinel, he returns to Roy and the others at around dusk. Then the crew spend so down time relaxing at night while Roy ponders about Wattrel. The next day (my best guess would be before noon), Liko goes into town to shop for the missing spice and gets her memories stolen by Beheeyem. So at best, Spinel's pokemon had a day of rest.
