From now on, when life gets hard, I can hope that there’s a woman in her sunroom, peacefully beading and enjoying her relaxation time; and that alone can remind me that everyone, including me, deserves that kind of serenity too.
I wish I knew about this channel 2 years ago. My fiancé's dementia stricken grandfather and father had contracted pneumonia from the condition the house was in. My mother had never met them, but while the father was hospitalized she took care of grandpa (who has since passed). She had to take out buckets of feces that were used as toilets by the alcoholic father - and bathe poor grandpa and feed him as he had been alone, scared, incontinent, for 3 days. As a 23 year old at the time, I rented out a dumpster and my Fiance, mother, me, and a friend went down and removed broken banisters, sealed off rooms that were hazardous, and added as many mobility tools as possible. I guess this is my long winded way of saying I appreciate and understand exactly how much time and effort you put into these projects. Even being young my body was so exhausted by the end of day 1 I couldn't sleep. It really can't be stated how amazing the effort you put in is.
My sister in law is disabled and pregnant. She is a previous domestic violence victim. I am disabled too. I had cancer twice. We are de hoarding her apartment. She already has two children from her violent ex, age 4 and 6. The 6 year old is autistic and has adhd. She wants help, we are doing it together, very slowly but we are doing it! Your channel has helped me figure out where to start and how to clean without upsetting her. Bless you you are incredible humans x
Re: Food prepping: I actually do this. Except I rotate. I figured out what we ate that I could prep. Noodles, spaghetti sauce, cans of veg, etc etc. Then I strive to have at least a three month supply on hand. I rotate through them so I use the oldest first. It came in super useful during covid. There was no panic. We just stayed home and ate what we had. Advice to those wanting to prep: In stress situations what your body wants is comfort food. It doesn't want to experiment with new things. It wants simple filling food. And it wants treats. For the love of everything good, make sure you store treats. For me, that's chocolate chips. If you've got flour, sugar, cocoa powder, oil, and chocolate chips the world is your freaking oyster.
YES! i discovered that i could store food prep home meal components like pasta and veggies very recently, and i've always been a can-hoarder because i grew up in a home with some hoarding tendencies and not seeing extra food in the house made me feel anxious. but ever since we hit rock bottom financially, and havent had the money to go out and buy our usual meals, my food storage has saved our butts time and time again - and i expect it to continue to do so since our food benefits have been cut drastically short and delayed. Food prep hoard, my beloved
Rotation of supplies is key; It also makes you focus on what you actually have, what you're not using, and what not to replace because no one in the household actually likes the stuff. It's great to have buckets of rice and beans, but you have to have variety or you suffer 'food fatigue' and just don't want to eat what you have. You have to get beyond the survival mindset and remember to actually live while you're doing so. There's a difference between hoarding and prepping; hoarding is a mental issue, with prepping, we get to wear tin-foil hats and that's kinda fun, not gonna lie.
I am overcoming hoarding tendencies but decided I needed to store some bottled water and tinned food after I read our area's flood risk assessment. I had zero room in my tiny kitchen, but I bit the bullet and got rid of all kitchen appliances and implements I no longer used. The extra space has meant I now have a month's worth of food and 2 weeks of drinking water in my backstock cupboards. Its organised in a way that I can easily access and rotate through.
@@peaches65835 Being prepared for the type of emergency your area is prone to is a valuable thing. Our state government even reminds people in the cyclone season to have an emergency kit. On Christmas night our area was hit by a tornado. That is unheard of here. And people were without power for weeks which has pretty terrible because the worst hit area needed power to pump their tank water. So no toilets or showers. We were having a heat wave too. Fun times indeed.
The other day, my adult son stepped in cat vomit. He’s a germaphobe so I said I’d clean it off for him. Then I told him, “they call me puke cleaning up Momma back in Cincinnati. Is that old puke cleaning up Momma? I don’t know. Why don’t ya puke and see if she cleans it up.” Yep. That’s what it’s come to in my house!!!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
You have the rare ability to go from sarcasm to serious on a dime and I LOVE IT! It was SO MUCH FUN doing this with you and Barbie! Thank you for your sincere support of both of us and for giving me the confidence to keep doing this. You and Emily are incredible humans! Now I better go get to moose fist hunting. It's been over a week and my family is starving without me out there providing food for them. 🤣🤣 You're a crack-up!😛
Moose punch hunting is highly underrated in my book. Nothing funner than a good 3 hour moose punch session for relieving stress AND feeding your family 😂😂😂😂 Love you guys!!!
You may need to explain this moose fist. I am getting that, it is one of his fanciful wandering stories that are hilarious, but I feel like an outsider on an inside joke! 😂 I know he always uses the moose to explain something not belonging in an area. Does he mean you go on a mad search trying to find the 1 thing that really doesn't belong? Or you are the best at it? I'm telling you, my mind is just going off on a journey trying to figure this out. 😂😂
Part of reasonable prepping is having those items easily accessible in an actual emergency. Just having an item doesn’t help. You have to maintain it, keep it in good condition, know where it is, know how to use it, etc. there’s definitely a difference between being prepared for an emergency and hoarding behavior. We prep, but we rotate food and only buy what we normally eat. We have backups of household items, but a limited number of extra that only get replaced as we use something up.
Because I don’t eat a bunch of shelf stable food, when I originally stocked up, I definitely got too much . I’ve been trying out some recipes a couple times a month and items that just keep getting passed over I’ve been taking to a small food pantry a couple miles away. It’s a learning experience 😂
Trust me, when the you-know-what does hit the fan (and it will) everyone will be taking an inventory of what they have, fixing what is broken (if possible), and learning how to barter for whatever else they may need in order to ensure their survival. We just haven't gotten to that point, yet. Those who had/have no hoarding tendencies will be the first to suffer the consequences.
We cleaned a flat of my ex husband's great-grandmother. She had severe hoarding too. She didnt allow to clean while alive and when her granddaughter swept the small place from bed to doors that was clutter free, she had to show her the showel and she took out any paper or piece of plastic that was there. Only pure dust could leave the flat. She collected around the neighborhood empty bottles, butter wrappers, milk cartons and other things, flattened them, tied neatly and stored in her flat. There wwre othwr things too. Pioneer wardrobes for several classes, antique stockings, soup and detergents enough for a decade of cleaning and things like that. Had things from soviet times till present. House was filled till the ceiling. And she also had a lot of stuff with expiration date long ended. Nasty things, like 40 years old fish and such. When she died we all went to clean and one person broke a glass jar with about 20 year old fish, she started to vomit on the spot. Apparently glass jar and vinegar marinade prevented the fish to complete disolve but kept it in some awful state all those years. It was horrible. And after we cleaned most or garbage from the kitchen evening came and from ventilation shafts came out a cloud of moths. It filled almost all the kitchen, most likely went to search for their evening meal as usual but it was gone. I got so scared of that cloud, it looked so big that it could eat me.
The lady of the house must actually really love her husband to have stayed with him so long through all of this. Tbh, I love my husband dearly but my mental health and anxiety would have made it impossible for me to stay there among all that LONG ago. I hope the husband gets the help he needs so they can both be happy. Well done to everyone involved in the clean up 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You’d be surprised what you’ll put up with when it becomes your normal. I dealt with my husband’s alcoholism for seven years. The day he announced he was sobering up, I would have cried if I could but I was recovering from hernia surgery. It was the best day of my life. A year later he began having seizures and his medication changed him into a dangerous, angry, horrible person. I had almost expected to leave him. I was preparing myself mentally, when we got clearance to dial back his meds. It saved our marriage. Love has nothing to do with it. Normal starts to look a certain way, especially when it creeps up on you. Before you know it, you’re up to your ears in server equipment and there’s puke in your carpets that you step over, and so much filth and mold in your toilets that you just shrug and turn the light off.
I love that there are still people in this world who care so much about others that they sacrifice their time and own physical comforts to help fellow human beings. Thank you for being you, Barbie, Bonnie and Mac!
@@valeriethomas4168 Definitely, team effort, help, supporting eachother, hope the fur babies did good while you both were away. If kitty was missing, hope they knew what cupboard to open... ❤️
I love, love, love how much time you spend explaining the conditions underneath what we’re seeing. The compassion, empathy and kindness you all exude are what makes me enjoy watching your videos. Thank you, also, for being so gracious. I want to join but it’s not in the cards right now. Having you say, “don’t join if you can’t afford it,” is so wonderful. No guilt trips! As a people pleaser (in recovery), I appreciate that.
I love all 3 of these channels but I only usually listen to RUclips when I'm doing something else so the narration on this channel in particular is really helpful to me. And hardly anyone TRULY understands that this is related to REAL TRUE DISABILITY so it's hard to listen to most people talk about cleaning or whatever. They don't get it
He's phenomenally thorough in explaining everything he can, as well as his cleaning and organizing!🎉❤😊 I'd marry his twin if he had one in a heartbeat!
This channel helped me to clean up my hoarder mess. I have OCD and have a hoarder issue, realizing that helps me to use my OCD to clean and getting rid of 60% of my stuff I don't need. Thanks for all involved, and Thank you FancyBootsJohnny for showing that its possible to show off the fancy boots down there in Massachusetts on a clean floor. Makes me want to shine in my own home 😂❤❤😊 Wish everyone here a fullfilling time on this planet.
I have trauma OCD. And my house gets clutter a lot, too. I have been trying to use my OCD to help with my organization, too. It's amazing that you're realizing that you need help, and finding ways to help yourself for the future and not just in the now, is extraordinary! I hope you find what's best for you.
You were very truthful when you said cleaning the hoard won’t help the illness. Not only will it not help the illness, cleaning will likely exacerbate the illness. Like you mentioned, the husband sees this process as a punishment, he is resentful about the previous episode of cleaning and you are absolutely correct that he will start buying and hoarding as soon as he’s back home. I can’t imagine how difficult it is when trying to help someone who not only doesn’t want the help, but resents it as well.
It depends on how much he wants to save his marriage. Incentive can do a lot. I left my first husband because he wouldn't allow me to straighten up his stuff. Not get rid of, just straighten it so we could use the front door. My father-in-law complained after I left that he had to cart 4 truckloads of crap to the dump. My mom told me this as if it was my fault and I was literally speechless. None of that crap was mine. Not one bit. But as the wife, I got blamed for the state of the house even though I lived under threats if I touched any of it.
Just to say, I didn't go back to him, and he didn't change. In fact, one woman he dated complained to me (!) about how messy he was! Yeah? As if I didn't know?
The cleaning is really for the wife. She needs to de stress, get the strength to process & RESOLVE THIS. This is not a marriage but a hostage situation.
I don’t know how she puts up with it. It made me feel bad when Mac said he hopes she has 2 weeks of peace 🥹. But I don’t live there. But I’m pretty sure it can’t be easy
Yeah, I agree, honestly, but I didn't want to be too harsh. I hope he has a breakthrough moment. The inherent selfishness of the disease is so tragic. 😥
@flyushkifly It's like living with an alcoholic. Unless they agree to accept treatment, then you are not doing them or yourself any favours by staying.
I've known for years that my mom is a hoarder, but she calls herself a pack rat (basically a lowkey prepper). Your videos have really helped me identify ways I can start clearing things out without triggering her. Thank you for all you do.
My dad was like that too. I would just go when he wasn’t home and get rid of a few bags at a time. When he noticed things were different, I just told him I cleaned and “reorganized”. It worked like a charm. He wasn’t anywhere near the levels we see on this channel. He had a packed closet and computer desk. I bought some large plastic storage totes for his “nice” things and stacked them in the garage. Good luck with your mom and how sweet of you to care enough to help her ❤
I can totally understand how something like this can happen, I was raised to keep an immaculate house. However, since my son passed away, I could care less about anything. I have no motivation and no desire to do the deep cleaning that I used to do. It’s still presentable for the most part, but I can see the difference in how I’ve let things go… Thank you for what you all do and your understanding
When my daughter passed, I suffered from the same problem. It’s been 10 years since she died and I just now am starting to be able to clean like I used to. But it’s still nothing like I used to in terms of housecleaning. It just doesn’t seem as important anymore. Depression is a weird mistress.
I hear you and I sympathize. Been there, have not done that when it came to cleaning and sorting. Give yourself some grace. Today is a good day for me, so I am cleaning while I watch/listen to this video.
This needs to be talked about more. There area SLEW of people that are hoarders under the premise of ‘prepping’. When my father died it took a $1,000 construction dumpster rental and countless hours to get rid of it all. It’s extremely costly when you get stuck cleaning up one of these messes. 😢
It's amazing how the costly clean out only complicates an already emotional time. My son's Aunt was a crafter and reader and she hoarded like you would not believe.... she died 3 years ago and we're *still* not done. Thousands of dollars and a hundred thousand hours and we're still not done! If her house didn't abutt a national forest we would have burned it down. God knows it would have saved time and money!
@@Stephanie-we5ep Just invite other hoarders to come in and take what you, yourself, don't want. It shouldn't take very long once the word gets out that everything left behind is free for the taking.
Just make a detailed (®a!GS list posting and throw the stuff on the curb. People will come get it! For example " ice maker that fits 09 Magic Chef fridge" works better than " junk! Come take it"
That's why I'm doing a deep decluttering and cleaning now, while I'm only 82, and plan to keep up with it, so my kids won't have to later on. Finding much good stuff to offer to family before donating to my son's regular yard sales, and clearing out all cupboards that I can't easily reach any more, etc. All this is a gift I can still give, and it feels good.
i fully said "holy shit" alone in my apartment at 6.30am when I saw those results. not much shocks me but that was phenominal. jesus. Also choosing the owner's happiness while knowing& acknowledging the realities and knock on effects of the mental health of the primary hoarder is what brought warmth to MY cold dead herat. so thank you. thank you for what you do.
For that woman to have a clean living room and be able to enjoy her sunroom again was the greatest gift you could give her. I know how much better I feel when my home is clean and decluttered. Thank you to all of you for all you do.
As a recovering hoarder, I'm in happy tears with the wife, for her sun room. Little bit over two years ago I was the one who said in a big clean up (or should i say 'clean out' ?
I appreciate you validating the very human need to suplex strangers at the grocery store. It's so frowned upon in society that every time I'm at the grocery store there's always a couple random dudes who interrupt me by yelling "you can't do that!" and trying to put these weird connected bracelets on me that would prevent my next suplex. Luckily I'm quick enough to suplex them first, but then I have to leave the store or they won't stop trying. It sucks being harassed every time I just want to buy some food.
Ok, I had to G-search what 'suplex' is and now I'm even more perplexed than before reading your comment. This is some kind of aggressive wrestling posture??? I'm sorry that this comment comes 2 months after yours but do hope that eventually you'll see it and might decide to respond to answer my questioning mind.
I originally started watching your videos just because I love seeing the way you take the state of complete chaos and bring it to order. But I keep coming back because I appreciate your commentary so much, you are a compassionate, intelligent and downright hilarious dude and I think you should write a book. Also thank you for this amazing collaboration with Barbie and Bonnie, you guys did such an amazing job and the story about the sun room got me all choked up. You are so right, everybody deserves their moments of peace.
Your videos are so validating for me. I recently went to my parents house and found medication that had expired in 2009. I didn't even look at the dates on the food, because seeing how much the hoard had grown was painful enough. In good news though, I got one room cleaner than it had been in decades using your jigsaw puzzle method. Move stuff from one small section onto the floor, clean the surface, then put everything back but organized and wiped off.
You all were a Godsend to that poor woman. It was right to acknowledge that with him still in the picture the house would eventually return to this state, but this gives her breathing space-literally!- for a time. I wish my sister could be helped this way, her husband is a true hoarder that includes recyclables in trash bags that never get taken out and actually recycled. She won’t leave him either.😢God bless you.❤
This is how it is done with empathy. No having to show them and shame them. Everyone has struggles. They come out in different ways. Thank you for this, and your channel.
There was a tv show in Australia where they took all of the contents from the home of a hoarder and laid them out in a shed. They sorted into categories and took measurements of the sheer amount of space that all of the gear used. Then they worked with the owners helping them to see the volume of what they owned, how much they had duplicated and helped the owners to decide what to keep, sell, donate and throw away. I don’t recall if they ever revisited these families years down the track to see if they were able to maintain a changed lifestyle but you could see a number of them finally coming to terms with what they had been doing and the impact on those around them. The sheer scale of some hoarding was astonishing. On a smaller scale I have been trying to address this with my elderly father for several years now with some successes and some failures. Sadly if he has spent money on an item, it still has value even if broken and he struggles to dispose of it.
We’ve got Stacy Solomon Sorts Your Life Out in the UK she gets a team to put every single item in a warehouse or hanger and all the items are paired up to show how much stuff they have in their home and sometimes something so little and meaningful to them she will repurpose ❤
Thanks to you, I am becoming more and more conscious of my prepping hoard. We hadn't cleaned out our spice cabinet since we moved to this house in 2016, and my daughter was so proud of me for telling her to toss any spices expiring by 2016. Thank you for all you do.
After getting severe food poisoning from sour cream that "should be okay", I am now gleeful about discarding old food. We can even compost most of it. And I'm helping our nation's farmers by buying food, even if I don't get to it all 🇺🇸 🍅🇺🇸😅
The sunroom is behind the kitchen and bathroom for important purposes just because peace and joy are so precious; and thank you for donating so much stuff
I’ve learned so much about the mental health issues involved in hoarding. One of your videos where you talked about the areas of the brain that are directly responsible for these conditions, and how getting rid of things causes them actual physical pain, was so incredibly mind blowing to me. And also gave me so much more compassion for people. Thank you for all you do for others!
Anticipating the collab was fun. Seeing the live was fantastic although you guys looked exhausted. But seeing you all working together and the accomplishments you made is epic. The story of the lady and her beloved sun room broke my heart and made my eyes leak. I hope she gets to enjoy her personal nirvana for a long time. Everyone deserves a peaceful place. Thank you all for being who you are and what you do with such compassion for others. Hugs to Mack, Emily, Bonnie and Barbie!❤️Jules in OK.
Regarding the "emergency food" in those buckets- **if** it's the purpose-made prepper kind of food, freeze dried and packed in mylar with oxygen absorbers and all that, it really does have an official shelf life of 20-30 years. It's also really expensive compared to regular grocery store food. If it's just regular shelf stable food, like pasta and beans and four lifetime supplies of almonds, nah. I know hoarders won't listen to "you really should throw this out," but specifically preppers might listen to the principle of "first in, first out" and utilize things like can dispensers that make it easier to rotate stock as they use it.
The work the 4 of you did was amazing. I admit it made me sad and I cried when you spoke of the woman coming down stairs and seeing the change and knowing she could use her sun room again. Even if it was for a short time. Lawd, I have a sun room I enjoy and understand how she feels about being out there. How depressing having a spouse so ill mentally that it destroys your own mental stability. Sad. Y'all did great work there.
I thoroughly appreciate you giving Barbie and Bonnie credit for being there to help which helped you out as well. It's about acknowledging that we all need help and that's okay. I'd apologize for all my comments but then I'd have to spin kick you in the face for scolding me. Lol :)) You three have done an excellent job in this house. I hope the homeowners sort out their respective issues and move forward. Barbie and Bonnie did a wonderful job as well.
I don't know if her marriage will survive this, but it makes me happy to know she could enjoy the clear space and her beautiful sunroom again! Much love to the wife. Also, I feel bad for the husband out of compassion, he has not reached his breaking point (divorce?) and experienced rock bottom, it is tough and I wish him the best in hopefully getting mental care. I'm glad you three amazing humans made this house lovely again, you all are so amazing! I've been watching Barbie for a few months now and she is hardcore amazing. I'm a new sub of yesterday to beautiful mess so I have no doubt she is amazing even from seeing her work in your video. Much love to you and these ladies ❤❤❤
I so enjoy your videos but more than that I am impressed with your explanations of hoarding and how you are able to break down the types of hoarding and why they occur. To me it is like taking a college psychology class. That might be your next step because you are so clear in your explanations. It all makes sense even though the hoarding itself looks like chaos. Thank you for sharing with us.
Your commentary is everything! Also, your videos have helped me tremendously with organizing. I'm far from a hoarder. Simply going through two back to back deaths. My husband was first, then my mother smdh. Then, dealing with physical disabilities including Intractable Pain. After 2 years, I'm finally getting my home in order. Mostly because it annoys my soul😒! I'm making my home more accessible for me. All while *still* grieving!. Husband: November 30th, 2021 Mother: November 4th, 2022 Anyway, I show gratitude from So Cal.
Oh man... I could eat some 10 year old almonds right now! Watching you, watching all of you, doing cleanings keeps me motivated and avoiding my own hoarder tendencies. Much love for you, Barbie and Bonnie, and thank you!
I loved that Mack said that about eating the 10 year old almonds in a moldy basement. These cleanings motivate me, too, and curb and correct some hoarding for me. Very helpful comments, insight, compassion, and great sense of humor.
This is AWESOME! I'm subscribed to both Barb and Bonnie. It is so nice to see hoarders treated better then they are treated on Hoarders. I bet a lot of those people from that show have serious relapses.
I hate that show--shaming people for what is really a mental health issue, all for ratings. And showing up with all those dump trucks and a camera crew is beyond cruel. These three angels show so much compassion and empathy while preserving the dignity of the people they are helping.
He is correct, however if you have worked in a resturant you will know otherwise. Also If you are trashing tea, or coffee from those cabinets and if they are unopened there is a high chance the stuff is actually good. If I were him I would sort out the things from those bags and take whatever seems okay.
My dad and brother used to place freshly bought fruit on top of rotten fruit. For a person who is not a hoarder, it is hard to see how they live and the things they saw as normal.
I suppose you could always give out of date food to the zombies when the zombie apocalypse happens, that way it doesn’t go to waste, they get food poisoning and the the world is saved 😅
With things like the fridge, it can be easier if you take a picture. I mean clean out every bit of food, and take a picture so you know exactly where each shelf or drawer goes. You may also want to count the indents (there’s 4 shelf spaces between the drawer and the shelf above it). My dad and I sometimes paint multiple rooms or a whole house at one time, and we take pictures of what pictures go where on the wall, and how the top of each dresser (or cabinet in the kitchen) needs set back up. That way, we can just lay everything flat or remove items and lay drop cloths over them. My dad gets annoyed with me sometimes because we are literally there to paint, and he’ll find me cleaning something that doesn’t effect the walls, ceilings, or baseboards in any way lol. I seriously have to pull myself away. I LOVE cleaning and organizing.
It's a good suggestion to take a pic, I always think I'll remember where things were until I go to put them back the way it was lol! Mack and friends are pro's at this. I think you're comment will help me to remember to do that more often. ty!
Just found your channel today through Barbie’s channel. Subscribed to yours and Beautiful Mess right away. What you all do for individuals as well as countless watching….. is amazing!!!! Thank you all! 💜 My Dad was born in 42, the second of four children…. His Mom had been managing a farm, raising kids and working at a poultry plant during Great Depression era. My Dad never overcame his fear of lack. Even carefully throwing out cans of food which were rusted & prior to dates on cans… it could set him off as if you shot someone he loved. He always had more connection to stuff than people. When he passed he had an entire locked room full of giant totes which he ziptied and often had locks on. Inside the totes were toilet paper, tide, etc. I split it up between 6 families after he passed and it lasted my own family nearly two years.
I appreciate that you took everyone’s safety into mind and didn’t spin kick the kitchen clean. All of you are angels. There is nothing better in this world than a good deed done. Going to subscribe to Bonnie and Barbie now!
I have NO doubt that the owner cried happy tears when she saw her clean living room and sunroom!!! I hope each of you are getting some needed rest! Excellent work🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊❤❤❤
I watch all three of your channels. And love them. But this one left me speechless. Not just how immense the hoard was, but three of you working together was so powerful emotionally. Love you all, seriously. ❤❤❤
This was inspiring! I actually took cups and saucers (that were part of a stoneware dinner set) to the dump today. I had not used them, ever, in 38 years! They were just taking up space I needed. I also threw away something I thought I would repair for the last 18 years. It felt good! I boxed up some other things to donate. And, I really needed to hear that chipmunk talk!
Ya know, sometimes it gets down to the point of 'it needs to go'-whether it 'could' be eaten under circumstance X or not, or recycled, or donated. Same thing with 'good stuff' that cost a lot of money, or is sentimental, or...whatever. At some point, we each have to consider what our stuff is ACTUALLY costing us. If it costs a marriage or a relationship with your children, the cost is too high regardless of what it is. 'People over possessions' is one of my new mantras.
Yes!! Emily is the woman behind the scenes, supporting the smooth operation of MMC! She is an integral part of the company and a key component of the success of the channel! 💜 Emily
"sometimes i can overthink things because my brain is stupid" me too booty fart butt, me too. it's so heartwarming what you do for these people in need. neat to see a collaboration, I'll be subscribing to these two ladies as well. keep up the great work and keep it coming with the hilarious commentary!
There just are no words to adequately expression just how incredible this transformation was. You all did a phenomenal job, and I was so touched by your consideration and kindness towards the lady of the house regarding her love of the sunroom. Kudos to you all and I'll be checking out both of those ladies' channels.
At 64 years young I replaced the upstairs toilet seat. It was not my first rodeo😊 $12.00ish Walmart. 😮It came with some assembly required. 9 parts. It aged me 1 year to apply the new seat. NINE PARTS! I thought I needed a tiny pill under my tongue.
Must say this is nothing short of extraordinary. Such a huge undertaking, I don’t know how y’all accomplished everything you did in that amount of time. Heaven points for helping this house on it’s way to becoming a home.
Thank you so much for these videos, I am a recovering hoarder and these videos not only motivate me they give great tips on the "how to" which has been a stumbling block for me in the past.
I love Barbie! Followed her awhile back. She is an angel! Helping the distressed and folks with depression. Mom's who have children and are going through tough time for one reason or another. God bless this beautiful soul! ❤
Your heroin metaphor is spot on. I used to live next door to a really badly hoarded house - couldn't see in the windows, all the porches were full of stuff, etc. One time I got locked out of my apartment and had to call the fire department, and the firefighters saw that house and said "WHOA" and immediately after letting me into my place, they went straight next door to talk to the woman. Meanwhile, we had people across the street who would shoot off fireworks randomly (and illegally; this was in Massachusetts). Then there was another house around the corner that was constantly putting free stuff on the curb, and the woman next door kept dragging it all back to her house. It was a really depressing situation. Pretty sure that house ended up condemned and I think at some point a child was removed. I'm glad there are people like you, Barbie and Bonnie out there to help these people.
I cleaned an elderly relatives’ pantry recently. We found things with a best before last millennium. Something was marked ‘newly opened 1992’. And I found an older packet of that. Plenty of things with bb in the early 2000s. And the kitchen didn’t even look like a hoarder house. Just a regular sized pantry with things shoved far in 😅
That’s what my parents (and mine too) kitchen is like. We just don’t throw out stuff if we don’t use it and it doesn’t start to smell. I threw away spices from 1982 last time I was there, I figured they didn’t have that much taste left in them.
3 kind and caring people who came together to help people in trouble. It’s a beautiful thing. Renews my faith in the human kindness. As always you do a great job, and no judging. ❤️👏🏻✌️
Hoarding is definitly a illness Having people like you and barbie are the best thing there is Its like having a special calling. God bless you all for helping people the way you do. your angels right here on earth.
You guys are phenomenal!!!! This collaboration was fantastic!!!! Each of you deserve medals for what you did to help these people!!!! We all enjoyed getting to see you all work together SO much, and hopefully in the future it can happen again at some point!! We love MMC, Barbie, and Bonnie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for being amazing human beings!!! 🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍🩵🩵🩵💙💙💙☺️☺️☺️🥰🥰🥰
Honestly one of the best videos you've ever done, MMC! You once again knocked it out of the park with the right combination of compassion, wisdom, ability and humor. Thanks for posting it early for us!
Amazing! You all did such a fantastic job on this home. Brought tears to my eyes when you said she was already sitting in her sun room with some beads. If only the world was full of such wonderful people as yourselves, what a wonderful place it would be.
There just aren't words to say how awesome the three of you are. Not just for this massive project, but for the difference you are making in people's lives. I only found Barbie's channel after hearing about it on yours and about Bonnie's when you told us about the "collaboration". I have now subscribed to both channels😊. I guess your channel will always be a favorite because I found it first and have enjoyed it longer. Auri's is also really good. I was so excited to see this and glad one of yours came out first😊! I hope you get to feeling better really soon! I know those homeowners appreciate what you all did and maybe it'll last longer this time around. We can hope! Take care and enjoy your weekend 😊 ❤
My mother would save the envelopes from junk mail, open them all the way up and use them to write down her grocery lists or as what she called "scratch paper". She grew up during the Great Depression when paper was not always available.
@@llbailey9946 Exactly! Or to get rid of clothes that have elastic, drawstrings, buttons, hooks/eyes, and zippers then go out and buy all of those. My mom would cut old clothes into 1/4 to 1/2 inch strips, then make "rag rugs" using a crochet hook (or sometimes just her fingers). Worn sheets also were turned into handkerchiefs, dinner napkins, and pillow cases. We live in such a wasteful generation.
@@debpratt52 There were 6 kids in my family and we all had to have spiral or composition notebooks for school. After school was over, my mom would tear out any pages that were full and use the rest for other purposes....writing notes, bookmarks, letters, jotting down recipes, playing "Hangman" and "Tic-Tac-Toe", or whatever. Sometimes she would tear out sheets from spiral-bound notebooks, cut the torn edges off and because they had 3 holes on one side, she would place the sheets into a loose-leaf notebook, just in case we kids ran out of notebook paper for school. She would even save the coiled wire from those spiral notebooks to use around the house. They worked great for hanging things. She often said, "Use your head for something other than a hat rack." LOL
my boyfriends mom struggles with hoarding - luckily not too severely, but whenever i’m over to see my boyfriend for the weekend, i normally try to help out with cleaning, even if it’s just taking out trash or wiping things off occasionally i’ll get to spend hours sorting through big piles of all of their stuff and helping them keep important things and getting rid of garbage or donating what they don’t need his parents are always really appreciative when i help out with that stuff especially since his mom is so overworked so she can never find the time to do it herself i love seeing how happy it makes them when they see that i’ve cleaned up something that they have put off for so long i’m over so often that i almost do that sort of stuff as a payment to them for feeding me all the time and buying me things i also help with making everyone dinner sometimes and help with general clean ups too but big cleaning days are definitely some of my favourites to do there i love watching your content because it reminds me of when i get to help people close to me clean since lots of people i know struggle with hoarding. keep up the great work!
Such a great Collab.! I already follow both Bonnie and Barbie. They are both amazing! Thanks Mack for supporting the people that need help, regardless of socioeconomic situation.
Aw, Mack, what a heart-warming moment, both you and Barbie cleaning off the mantle piece in the lounge. You just stand there and tiny Barbie gets on a stool! Thanks so much Mack, shout out to Barbie and Bonnie as well. A fantastic result, I only wish wish that it had been a bit longer as it was very enjoyable!
There is no way to properly express the depth of humanity it took to do this job. It was done beautifully with no shame, no expectations, no remorse and no judgement. Your explanation of mental illness is so spot on refreshing that you sir are a marvel of modern medicine😊. Thank you three so much. The shear joy and peace she had with her beads in the sunroom the following morning makes me feel good. I appreciate that for her.
That’s an impressive camera Lorenzo. Can’t wait to see that house beaten into submission. (Disclaimer- no houses were hurt in the making of this video).
I started wondering about the rotting seeds that emitted the horrific smell, ran into a story about an entire family dying from gasses emitted from rotting potatoes in their basement. I did some research regarding "rotting seeds" and they emit hydrogen sulfide. Be careful, don't need anyone injured or dying while cleaning someone's else's mess.
Such a beautiful home. Fantastic job all of you. So glad there were items to give to people that they could use in their home, all th donations given away to other. God bless your heart and the ladies too!
This was great! Thank you! I hope they will be able to recover and manage all their hoarding and stay happy together. That sunroom story was particularly wholesome in the end. Beads immediately ready on a table. Just wholesome. I feel like hoarding in combination with prepping (to be ready to care for your family) is really tough to manage.
This one has it all. The progress, the humor, the education and the compassion. And acknowledging the fact that it's going to get hoarded again soon but it's worth it to give her a few weeks of peace really is a beautiful thing. You're a force of good in the world Booty Fart Butt and your traditional biblical name is awesome as well.
Halfway through the video I got teary eyed from the things you were saying. I thought, “This is what grace means.” And you’re right. Sometimes I refrain from doing something good because I think it won’t last or that other people won’t appreciate it enough to take care of it. But striving for health, beauty and order to get peace as temporary as it may be, is still worth it. Thank you! 🫧
I am now subscribed to all 3 channels. Thanks so much. You all should be so proud of yourselves. You are not stupid you are exceptional. The world needs more people like you.
The house is a really pretty ! I'm glad it's now seeable beyond all the mess. I can't even imagine what it might have looked like before you got there. I am one of those people that love to drive by and look at historic homes and imagine what they look like inside, with all the amazing woodwork and finishes. You definitely don't imagine it to be like this.
Thank you for your compassionate work, and your two helpers, Bonnie and Barbie. My Mom was a real cleaning freak if I must say so. She was very organized. So I found myself when I lived away from my parents just cleaning, cleaning, and cleaning. And yes!! Your muscles do get sore. I cleaned like a maniac until my second child. Something had to go. I needed to rest. So now, I’m much more relaxed about it, due to physical issues. My family has to pitch in.
🎉❤😊Amen to that!🎉❤😊
When hoarders come home they're incandescent with anger at people who take their stuff.
The crazy names in the beginning are actually very helpful. It’s how I can tell if I’ve already watched the video.
Yes! The people in that house prepped so much but then didn’t bother to rotate. Very unfortunate.

Because that's how you roll, momma! 😂😂😂

🤣🤣 You're a crack-up!😛
Please film yourself moose fist hunting and post it!!
Moose punch hunting is highly underrated in my book. Nothing funner than a good 3 hour moose punch session for relieving stress AND feeding your family 😂😂😂😂
Love you guys!!!
🤣
You must be really tall to be able to punch a moose.😀
Exactly! That's what we do. I have some food put away, but it's rotated as I purchase new. And it's limited and easily accessible.
You can have two or three years worth put up..and still be extremely organized, and know where every item is, and how much you have of every item.
Those who had/have no hoarding tendencies will be the first to suffer the consequences.
...and it made good financial sense to make a video showing that.@@marilynpeppers1356
Wow! Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

They don't get it
(I'm not talking about Barbie or Bonnie I just mean in general it's so nice to hear someone who gets it)
Mack gives 110% empathy, kindness AND Knowledge .. it's why he is so Sensitive to Client needs
Makes me want to shine in my own home 😂❤❤😊
Wish everyone here a fullfilling time on this planet.
Good job!!✌️♥️✨

I have trauma OCD. And my house gets clutter a lot, too. I have been trying to use my OCD to help with my organization, too.

Me too. It really helps and use it for motivation and get some done each weekend. I hope to have it clean in a year or so. 👍
A collab between cleaning channels is not something I ever thought I’d see, but am pleasantly surprised by how much I like it!
Please don't tell me this. I am struggling with my adult daughters issue.
@@edennis8578yes but that's called domestic abuse I'm afraid. I've been through the same.
The cleaning is really for the wife. She needs to de stress, get the strength to process & RESOLVE THIS. This is not a marriage but a hostage situation.
Quick! She needs to have a lock put on the door of the sun room and hide the key. It should be off limits to him.
A divorce would probably be more effective.
I don’t know how she puts up with it. It made me feel bad when Mac said he hopes she has 2 weeks of peace 🥹. But I don’t live there. But I’m pretty sure it can’t be easy
The whole house needs to be off limits to him. D.I.V.O.R.C.E. ASAP.
I’m so sorry about your son.
I'm so sorry about your son 😞
When my daughter passed, I suffered from the same problem. It’s been 10 years since she died and I just now am starting to be able to clean like I used to. But it’s still nothing like I used to in terms of housecleaning. It just doesn’t seem as important anymore. Depression is a weird mistress.
I went into a 3 year slump when my relative passed. Just now sticking my head out. God bless you.
Been there 25 years ago, took a 40 ft dumpster and over 3 weeks...😮 That was only the beginning
I’ve been folding laundry that has been sitting for weeks since it was done. I’m almost done with all the dishes in my kitchen.
As a recovering hoarder, I'm in happy tears with the wife, for her sun room.
Little bit over two years ago I was the one who said in a big clean up (or should i say 'clean out' ?
I went through this at my sister house! Haven't talked with her since, she is mourning all her stuff that was stolen.
Sorry to hear that you are not speaking. Life is short and that's a damn shame xx

Yes! A book would be great!
What show is that? Im australian and haven't heard of it 😊

Beans turn into gravel, I swear.
Husband: November 30th, 2021
Mother: November 4th, 2022
Anyway, I show gratitude from So Cal.
40 pounds worth
This is AWESOME! I'm subscribed to both Barb and Bonnie. It is so nice to see hoarders treated better then they are treated on Hoarders. I bet a lot of those people from that show have serious relapses.
I hate that show--shaming people for what is really a mental health issue, all for ratings. And showing up with all those dump trucks and a camera crew is beyond cruel. These three angels show so much compassion and empathy while preserving the dignity of the people they are helping.
"very few people are going to buy a new thing and put it behind something that's expired the year we were all doing the Harlem Shake" 🤣 GREAT JOB
first in first out 😂
LOL
We did all that
Oh my gosh, I’m so sad that THAT didn’t even help! Lol
💜 My Dad was born in 42,
the second of four children….
Oh Mack, you, Barbie, and Bonnie accomplished so much! Totally awesome video!!!! Can't wait for Bonnie's and Barbie's
Yes!!!! Emily is the manager, organizing and coordinating!! Love you Emily 💖💕💖 (happy she is in the video helping!!!)
I was wondering who that was.
Yes!! Emily is the woman behind the scenes, supporting the smooth operation of MMC! She is an integral part of the company and a key component of the success of the channel! 💜 Emily
My favorite man!! ❤️❤️👊🏻
Yes!! My favorite too. Found you because of him. He is selfless. And you are an angel.
Agreeeee 💯 mine too!!
Did you notice that his head kept getting bigger as he bragged on himself 😂🤣 you three and Emily worked like crazy ❤❤❤
It'd be nice if we could clone him! 😅😅😅
Wow, a gorgeous old home is under that hoard. Beautiful work, and I thoroughly enjoyed this collaberation.
I have to watch these shows in stages. I know this family especially the fed up wife is so thankful to you all. 😊
All three of you have wonderful skills. And wonderful souls.
Thank-you to all of you for what you do.
I love Barbie's channel. She is so real. I will watch Bonnie's channel.
Thank you! ❤️❤️
"sometimes i can overthink things because my brain is stupid"
me too booty fart butt, me too.
it's so heartwarming what you do for these people in need. neat to see a collaboration, I'll be subscribing to these two ladies as well. keep up the great work and keep it coming with the hilarious commentary!
There just are no words to adequately expression just how incredible this transformation was. You all did a phenomenal job, and I was so touched by your consideration and kindness towards the lady of the house regarding her love of the sunroom. Kudos to you all and I'll be checking out both of those ladies' channels.
Omg I thought punch hunting was a real thing for a second 😂😂 I'm embarrassed to admit that 😂
Absolutely gorgeous home and all kidding aside, you guys make a great team and an awesome job!
At 57, I appreciate any and all pharmaceutical assistance.
Ha ha ha
@wolfe6220 me too. 😅
Your wisdom, compassion, and humorous way to deal with your job are just amazing
You are so kind. It’s a joy too watch you channel
Hoarding is definitly a illness
Having people like you and barbie are the best thing there is
Its like having a special calling. God bless you all for helping
people the way you do. your angels right here on earth.
I love your sense of humor coupled with your empathy! You are so refreshing and kind. We need more people like you on social media!
WONDERFUL work! What a great transformation and you all should be so, so proud of the collective effort and results!
Plus it's all embodied energy. Seems crazier to me to throw out usable paper and then buy paper...
My mom still does that.
My mother-in-law did that, too, and I started doing it. Why buy a note pad? I actually cut the envelopes into note-paper size and clip them together.
She often said, "Use your head for something other than a hat rack." LOL
my boyfriends mom struggles with hoarding - luckily not too severely, but whenever i’m over to see my boyfriend for the weekend, i normally try to help out with cleaning, even if it’s just taking out trash or wiping things off
occasionally i’ll get to spend hours sorting through big piles of all of their stuff and helping them keep important things and getting rid of garbage or donating what they don’t need
his parents are always really appreciative when i help out with that stuff especially since his mom is so overworked so she can never find the time to do it herself
i love seeing how happy it makes them when they see that i’ve cleaned up something that they have put off for so long
i’m over so often that i almost do that sort of stuff as a payment to them for feeding me all the time and buying me things
i also help with making everyone dinner sometimes and help with general clean ups too but big cleaning days are definitely some of my favourites to do there
i love watching your content because it reminds me of when i get to help people close to me clean since lots of people i know struggle with hoarding. keep up the great work!
Wow. Did you get any sleep this week? You guys all rock!
I owned a cleaning service for 15 years. What I used to clean porcelain sinks was baking soda it worked amazingly.
Wow, you three are miracle workers! So impressive and you guys deserve so much for your kindness and help ❤
Y’all really are amazing peeps..you, your family,&the other cleaners. Thanks for what you do and thanks for caring
