Absolutely, that is all it takes. And illness very easily leads to depression. Add in no support system and it’s pretty much a guarantee. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for understanding that “things” cannot just be “thrown away”. There are many reasons people hoard - and many different things people *need* to hoard too x from food to clothes to thoughts/memories etc Getting to the bottom of Why requires a lot of psychological help and support You doing the first pass is invaluable
Hey, I know this guy. We call him Fluster Buster Johnny back in River City. When he gets flustered he just busts those feelings, right in the face. Great work Johnny.

Mr. Pretty-storage Flood Humper, it’s so helpful hearing you talk through your strategies for what otherwise would seem an insurmountable mess. What amazes me is we only have so many years and so much time in those years to accomplish things. I'm not judging but it's hard to imagine people never having a light bulb going off and saying realistically I'll never live long enough to use all this. I've seen this in organized craft rooms often. People are in their 60's and have enough supplies to last 4 lifetimes. I think people just can't stop buying. Vicki
as someone who lives in a room I'm renting from a hoarder...people who hoard things see the things as an extension of themselves. Throwing things away feels like removing a part of their own body. Bringing stuff in feels like their "self" is gaining something. While on many levels it makes no sense to me, and I'm a minimalist at heart so it stresses me out no end, I've had enough conversations with my roommate (and other people who hoard on a lesser level) to get a glimpse into what's going through their heads. Ultimately it's not about using the stuff, it's about possessing it (and sometimes just the *potential* for use creates a better feeling than actually using the item)
@@starjewel16 Agreed and understood however I was alluding to others ( normally functioning individuals) that I see on videos of their craft rooms. They are not hoarders but need to own every new supply and multiples of it all. The rooms are clean, organized but the sheer volume of what they own can never be used in their lifetime. Supplies like paint, mediums, stamp pads all dry up and become useless, stack after stack of scrapbook paper and massive shelving units and plastic containers to hold it all. At some point I would think they would use up what they have instead of purchasing more. The rooms look like store stock. I feel alot of this is shopping addiction. Vicki
Some of it is absolutely about shopping and the joy of a pretty thing. However, it can also be hard to use things up in the same way you might elsewhere. I think it’s particularly difficult for people who do multiple crafts. Say you make a garment in orange, you need orange sewing thread. You may only use half a bobbin, but no other colour will work, so you do need to get some. You can easily end up with more thread than you could use, but none of them are interchangeable, and you have no idea which ones will get reused. It gets worse if you also repair clothes, or weave, or spin, or knit. I have also noticed that often when a crafter dies, their family doesn’t know what to do with their stash. They sell the entire thing together - which never gets sorted by the new owner, aside from pulling out a couple bits they want to use. I draw, and I do have a problem with mediums I use rarely. I might not use up my purple paint for a long time, but when I need it I really do need it. Personally I manage by keeping my inventory to only mediums I know I like and not encouraging gifts.
My MIL is such a person. She will go to thrift stores, estate sales and Dollar tree and buy things she does not really need, mostly but not limited to craft related items. It used to give me an headache. Last year she moved in with her brother after my FIL passed away. She bought a barn style shed where she has all her crafting stuff and the overflow from her old place. My aunt is extremely ocd clean and is really good at preventing these impulsive buys but the she-shed is starting to fill up again.
Last fall, we had a close call with a wildfire in our area. We had to go through our stuff and decide what we would take if we had to evacuate, and what we'd leave to burn. It made me see all of that extra (flammable) stuff we have as fuel for the fire. I've gotten rid of a lot since then, and when it's hard to decide, I just remember how I felt that week.
Wow, that is a terrible but great story to share. I may use that. We're always telling ourselves it's just stuff, but hard to get in that mindset when purging. Putting it in your context makes it real. Thank you.
We went through the same this May, wildfire evacuation with no idea if we'd come back to a home or not. We packed our camper as we had enough warning before the order to evacuate happened (I get a visceral reaction now hearing phones give out an emergency/amber alert, probably some PTSD from it) and it made me realize just exactly what I would be sad to lose. Of course we couldn't bring everything that we didn't want to burn as family and pets came first, but the items I felt sick to my stomach knowing I may lose them are what made me realize what's irreplaceable vs just "stuff".
Wow‼️ I’m SO sorry you n yours had to experience that❣️ It definitely makes one realize what’s truly important n what’s not. As sad of a situation it is, it’s also an excellent way to really figure out if you had to walk away n possibly let it all burn, what exactly would you take. Definitely an excellent analogy for minimizing n getting rid of stuff. I can’t imagine losing ones home to a fire. I’m happy y’all didn’t have to either. 💜💜💜
My dad was a a hoarder and I fight with doing the exact same myself, it’s hard to let things go sometimes and definitely traits I’ve had passed down. Your videos inspire me to tackle small areas, I have adhd too! So hard to stay on one task with all theses things distracting you as you go 😂 wearing things, putting on a hat, some 20 year old lipstick I might want 🥴🤣 ffs. Your kindness to these people your helping for free must be so so appreciated, you are literally changing their lives. Amazing of you! I like to do this for others - as I did my dad many many times and I know just how long it takes to do these transformations. So much easier to do for others than myself though, without the emotional attachment to your own random stuff you can’t say bye too. I am getting there though, one drawer, one cupboard, one pile at a time, cleaning them right in the face 💪🏻😂🤣🤣
As I have gotten older I have become a minimalist and this would certainly drive me insane. I told my children years ago not to buy me any more what nots and if they insisted on doing something for me on the holidays cash would be preferable LOL. My son recently called me and asked me what I could actually use and I told him cleaning supplies. He went shopping and it was absolutely the best gift I've received. Something I could use and not have to dust
Kneepads. I'd get some worker pants with kneepads for sure. Awesome job and I love your style of video. Blessed silence, no constructed drama and sarcastic humor.
You are like a fairy that gives your gifts you were born with. What you leave is a peaceful living area for people that absolutely need it. It is PRICELESS. I know you reap the same reward. Thank you!
Damn. I hope we get a voiceover with Jason one day. I bet he’s say how amazing of a dad you are. How you finally let him eat at the dining room table and not in the dungeon. Love the relationship you guys have.
I’m currently working on cleaning a cluttered/hoarded estate. I can only go once a week and your videos are reminding me how to start each cleaning session. If I don’t mentally prepare by watching a video (or 2) I find I get overwhelmed and less gets done. Bonus: The man who lived there didn’t use most of the cabinets. Brand new looking and almost completely empty! Easy to clean, but not a good use of my time 😂 Thank you!
Ever since I started watching your videos a few months ago, I've been using alot of your tips. I feel so much better with my house cleaning chores with your tips. Thank you
I hope she’s able to part with much of that stuff. It seems like such a nice house. I bet she would feel so good if she let go of the stuff and was able to enjoy her lovely home. It almost seems like cleaning a house full of garbage is more satisfying, because once the garbage goes you can have a clean space. When the problem is clutter, no matter how much you move and clean and move and clean, you’re still left with a cluttered messy home. Clutter is a tough beast. I wrestle with her constantly and she beats me most days. If only my dear sweet family would stop crafting, reading, writing, cooking, eating, wearing clothes and shoes…. This place would be gorgeous.
I love your humor. It really makes my day! Thank you for keeping it real. ADHD is my superpower and I'm just finally learning to embrace my weirdness and being me, no matter what
I have a nook area that I spin kick in daily...I probably cannot spin kick like you. 🤣You have amazing patience to clean and sort that clutter. Well done enjoying this so much very satisfying. ☺️
Oh boy, I was so overwhelmed watching. Thank goodness for your comedic lines to lighten things up! Jason being evil AND flexing? He's gone too far even for a pile of filth.
I love your videos. When I started watching my health was not good and felt like one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. Seemed to not be able to do anything. Watching you say just do one little section at a time. I had a paper where I'd write what I was able to do. If one day could only take a shower. That's what would be on my list. So now I've cleaned two bedrooms LR bath dining room and working on my kitchen. May take me a week to do one room but now I feel proud of how my house is looking. It is not up to the standard that I had in my younger years but it is looking so much better. I am 78 but just trying to do a little bit everyday. It has been a process but I'm able to do a little more each day. Thank you for being an encourager for me.
Tip for removing a full "stuck" garbage bag...as you hold the top so no trash jumps out, tip the can left or right...out slides the full bag! Lady at church taught me. Said a custodian taught her. Love your videos 😊
Mr. Floodpumper, thanks for great advice toward the end of this video about how to decide what to keep and what to toss. We all can use that reminder. If you put it on your to-do list once each season to get rid of stuff you simply no longer use, you probably won’t get to that stage of actually forgetting what you have because it’s buried piles deep into your hoard.
I'm like you: I don't keep nothing for more than 6 or 12 months... I hate trash inside my house. ❤ Good job, Jason!!!🎉 My space is more valuable than my stuff, for sure!!!❤❤❤
You do such a good job I wish you lived closer to us because we could use your help too. I’ve enjoyed watching you help other people and just today I thanked the Lord for people like you. I hope to find someone in our area that can do what you do. Thank you for posting your videos and keep on keeping on and giving that dirt and clutter a BAM and TAKE SOME of THAT and a 1,2,3 what for. LOL! 😊
I've been going through my house and storage shed donating, recycling, or throwing out things I don't use or need. It amazes me that I can go through the same rooms multiple times and keep finding things I can get rid of. Videos like this are heartbreaking, and sobering.
My aunt and uncle had moved to a house in the middle of a cornfield in PA in the 60s -- the area's since been built-up, so it's just a suburb now. When they moved in though, the cornfields were still around, but they never got mice in the house because the area also had a ton of copperheads. They never got in the house either, because with the cornfields getting developed on, it was like an all-you-can-eat buffet for them outside.
You are Amazing art folding neatly and making it fit into a storage bin. I love your humor and all your directions / suggestions. Have s great day doing your spinkicks!
When I bought my current home, my husband and I inherited all the previous owners decades-long hoard, and this video seems eerily similar. Thanks for doing this, hoarding is hard on everyone it affects, and seeing my experience reflected here is somehow comforting and validating.
Hey Mr. Fludhumper, I’m a fairly new subscriber and absolutely love your channel. I made some of your All Purpose Cleaner and it’s a game changer. It is the only thing that will clean my stainless steel appliances without streaking. I’ve learned so much from your strategic thinking and ability to make sense of the absolute worst cleaning situations. Your methods work for everyday cleaning too…it keeps things from getting overwhelming. And poor you having to deal with Jason! You must be up at nights worrying about what kinds of shenanigans he’ll pull next. 😂😂😂
While watching this video I began to understand why I like to watch your videos. I've listened to organizers before on YT, but they don't show themselves actually doing the work, and since I'm a visual learner, watching you do it is beneficial to me. Also, I think that my cleaning style or method is similar to yours. I'm also a "symmetrical" person. It bothers me sometimes if things are not symmetrical and I keep addressing that. I don't have any place else in the house to store things in order to empty a room completely and clean it, then put things back. I have to declutter and clean the room while the rest of the belongings remain in the room. Your videos are very helpful to me. I'm also about to start a job helping someone else clean, so your videos are very useful. Thank you! 😊
You are amazing for doing jobs like this for free. As someone that lives in the country in general mice are just part of the package. We do have 2 cats indoors. Though one of them would just lay there and watch the mice, but the other ones doesn't lol. We also feed the stray cats in the area, and they help keep the mice down, thus keeping down the snake population. I would rather have the cats, than the mice and snakes lol.

Great job! I really hope this family takes advantage of your generosity with the dumpster. But if they’re like my dad, it’s extremely hard to throw things away. In their mind it’s valuable and always thinking they’ll need it one day. ❤️

You are fabulously skilled and efficient - also remarkably entertaining! Utterly well done, sir!😃👍🏻
Agree
I came for the cleaning inspiration but stay for the sassy and hilarious commentary.
Thank you for what you do for these people and thank you for sharing it with us, you are a beautiful person.
I think you mean "you are a beautiful person, so suck it"
This home is beautiful and has some really lovely items. Hoarding is such a difficult thing to overcome. I send the family my love, understanding and support x
You should feel proud for helping others . Especially those that have been in crisis situations. Life can be overwhelming to all of us
You do a wonderful job ina cluttered world. 😅❤❤
It says something about really good about you that people with these challenges allow you to come into their home, touch their stuff, and do your work. And I also thank you for not playing the loud cheesy music!
I’m happy to see I’m not the only one awake at 2 am excited to see a cleaning video post. 😂😂 Love your videos!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Lol me too..I was about to go to bed then I saw this video and said nope not yet!
Same here
Same 😂
Same here, though it was already up when I got up due to not being able to sleep. Am about to go back to bed but not until I had already watched it.
It's the internet. All nocturnals end up somewhere on it. Rekieta Law is also interesting if you don't mind listening to a drunk.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for understanding that “things” cannot just be “thrown away”. There are many reasons people hoard - and many different things people *need* to hoard too x from food to clothes to thoughts/memories etc
Getting to the bottom of Why requires a lot of psychological help and support
You doing the first pass is invaluable
What a sweet thing to say & how you said it was perfect! 🙏
Chuck Fludhumper, excellent work as always.
Hey, I know this guy. We call him Fluster Buster Johnny back in River City. When he gets flustered he just busts those feelings, right in the face. Great work Johnny.
Dear Chuck Prettystorage, thank you for roundhouse- kicking my motivation to pursue minimalism. 😁
It always amazes me how you can turn total chaos into something that looks organized.
Jason just makes my eyeballs do a complete turn, to the point I can see my own brain, in disgust. Something must be done. Thank you for another video, it's kinda therapeutic for me in this moment of tough financial struggle.
And you know what? It encourages me to do some house cleaning. Our house very much reflects our state of mind.
😆
Mr. Pretty-storage Flood Humper, it’s so helpful hearing you talk through your strategies for what otherwise would seem an insurmountable mess. I felt anxiety just watching and know I would have been overwhelmed, so you breaking it into achievable steps is valuable. I wish your son would stop pursuing his life of misdeeds to help you, but we can’t have it all!

I love you guys and women that do this l felt overwhelmed trying to keep eye on kids house and working to help support my parents on farm who had both in hospital at close to the same time husbands family funerals and eventually death and anxiety really new we couldn't be 3-4places at one time.. even l had to get rid of clutter and clean.. thank God l worked at volunteer in hospital cleaning and laundry on certain floors . My job was cooking for schools that also included cleaning and and.
Thank you.
Wow! It sure makes a person think differently about their stuff.
@@sundoesshine8583 You are very welcome.
I bet the lady you did this for cried when she saw what an amazing job you have done - you restore my faith in humanity 😇
I thought the same thing. She must have been estatic
What you do for these people is wonderful. Thank you for all your work
As I have gotten older I have become a minimalist and this would certainly drive me insane.
Thank you!
You absolutely crack me up in so many ways. Thank you!
Easy to clean, but not a good use of my time 😂
Thank you!
Thanks for the giggles again! Hugs to you, Chuck Fludhumper.
You are giving me ideas about what I need to do and the type of help I need. Thank you! You change people's lives!
❤️❤️👊
Hey Chuck! Great video, great cleaning, great in their face stuff!
Chuck, how dare you not wear the butt pants today! That wouldve made this video so much nicer :P (I kid but, ya know it's true!!!!)
Gotta get me some yoga pants.

@@MidwestMagicCleaning A pair of those bubble butt yoga pants would be interesting!
Ever since I started watching your videos a few months ago, I've been using alot of your tips. I feel so much better with my house cleaning chores with your tips. Thank you
My heart goes out to these people and thankful they found you. I hope they agree to your dumpster suggestion. Thank you for sharing
Just love watching you it’s very satisfying to me🥰🥰🌺🌸🌺🌸 great job guys and thanks for helping people what gift you give🥰
Kudos to you sir for helping these people when they are in a bad spot in their life. You're a blessing to these people
I hope she’s able to part with much of that stuff.
ADHD is my superpower and I'm just finally learning to embrace my weirdness and being me, no matter what
This dudes commentary is something else
I have a nook area that I spin kick in daily...I probably cannot spin kick like you. 🤣You have amazing patience to clean and sort that clutter. Well done enjoying this so much very satisfying. ☺️
Oh boy, I was so overwhelmed watching. Thank goodness for your comedic lines to lighten things up! Jason being evil AND flexing? He's gone too far even for a pile of filth.
The 2 dustpans on the floor, oh the irony 😂 by the way tell Jason to stop 🛑 chasing me in the supermarket
When you hit 200k please let Jason narrate one of your videos. 😂
Good idea. I like Filth….😏
Love your sense of humour, you are a very special person and a joy to watch your videos 🇦🇺🦘
I don’t even need to watch. I just love the commentary!! Thanks for making us laugh.
I cannot tell you how much I enjoy your voiceover!!! You are cleaning comedy gold
Evil is a necessary evil. But, shaving old women bald is a whole other level. ❤
You crack me up! 😂 So happy to see a new video!
your right you can not toss other peoples stuff away, they would be horrified. Thank you for understanding hoarding and helping these people
Another great job Chuck, I bet it does the residents so much good for their mental health to have livable space back.
I binge watched all of your videos and was waiting on bated breath for the next one🧐It's here🎉Appreciate you "Chuck" 😊
it's "with" baited breath, not on. you're welcome ; )
Lovelooking back on your videos .......😊
Tip for removing a full "stuck" garbage bag...as you hold the top so no trash jumps out, tip the can left or right...out slides the full bag! Lady at church taught me. Said a custodian taught her. Love your videos 😊
I drilled two holes on each side of my trash can and bags come out with ease.
This is overwhelming for me, and I’m just watching. You are so impressive!
LOL! 😊
Aaand continuing watching your videos one by one, day by day.❤
Kudos to this man I was a housekeeper for over 20yrs.
I can't even explain how satisfying watching of this is
Just WOW 😮! You did a fantastic job! Blessings and Peace ✝️❤️
I've been going through my house and storage shed donating, recycling, or throwing out things I don't use or need. It amazes me that I can go through the same rooms multiple times and keep finding things I can get rid of. Videos like this are heartbreaking, and sobering.
Amazing how the restacking improves the visual!
Well done Jason. These peoples houses have missed a structure. Now it looks much better. Good job.💝🍾
Your voiceovers are the best. ❤
Gosh you have such a sense of humor with Jason. Poor women. 🤣
You are such an incredible person. What a amazing job you do.
Thank you! 😊
Thank god for you helping these people! You are amazing!!!!
I enjoy your dry humor. Makes these videos twice as good.
I really appreciate the respect you have for other people's things. You do a great job of sorting. Nice work!
Great job cleaning and organizing!👍🎉
You are truly an amazing man!! All that you do for others with zero judgement! You are a blessing❤
You are amazing! I love antiques, primitives and old farmhouses and in awe of the amazing things that she has. She will be so happy when it’s all done and she can enjoy her things. You do an awesome job!
I was itching to throw away those dried flowers that had lost all their colour; you're a better person than me.
You're a man after my own heart. Cleaning and organizing! Yay! Also, you crack me up!
Oh my gosh😂 I came for the cleaning. I subbed bc of the voice overs 😅😅😅😅💟
Wow! What a difference! As always, you do a great job. I love your humor! God bless you for helping this family. 💙
Awesome job!! They were lucky to have you!!!! 👍
Great job! I really hope this family takes advantage of your generosity with the dumpster. But if they’re like my dad, it’s extremely hard to throw things away. In their mind it’s valuable and always thinking they’ll need it one day. ❤️
I watch a hoarders heart she was a level 4 hoarder and she has worked her way to level 2 and I honestly just love her videos. It totally has helped me to understand the struggle of hoarders.
Awesome video and your compassion is amazing.
I appreciate your Tetris skills. 🙌🏻💯
Great job with craft room.
Maybe she will let some of the crafts supplies go to the curb with A free SIGN!! This may help lessen the clutter until the dumpster is allowed. You are amazing for all the work and help you do.
