You said something today that clicked for me. I have ADHD and have always struggled with cleaning. You said to focus on one thing not the whole kitchen. I did that tonight and I felt so accomplished with how clean I got that area. I am moving around the room and making great progress.

That’s awesome! I learned somewhere in my life to only touch something once. Pick it up and find it’s home or if it’s trash, toss it. Of course when you are moving things to clean under them, then that doesn’t apply. It certainly helps me when I have mail and books and clothes etc that need my attention. Keep up the good work ❤

Happy birthday! As one who suffers with ADHD, things often get overwhelming. Recently, they jackhammered my floor to fix a collapsed pipe and left concrete dust everywhere in my very large apartment, in every single little tiny nook, cranny, crevice and groove. @@michelle11457 the problem is I can’t use a swiffer duster or vacuum cleaner except on the fabric of my chairs. I’m having to use either Windex or Lysol disinfectant spray that I had and clean everything including all my spices, cans in my pantry, absolutely everything in my closet, all my clothes. Trash cans, appliances, etc. etc.. some of the plastics, like shampoos toothpaste, and such I take to the shower or to the kitchen sink and fill the sink with Dawn dish soap and clean everything that way. It’s a process but it’s getting done one thing at a time. I have to get it clean because of my asthma and I can only do so much at one time because of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.

Just so you know, my house was clean, really clean, then I went out of town, and a few days later my husband came and joined me for a few more days. My adult son with bipolar disorder came and really was coming down off of a manic episode. I was so beaten down when we got home, everything is wrecked. I just spent 2 weeks in bed dealing with my own depressive Bull Sh*t. So I started watching your videos and now I’m listening while I do what you do. I just did all the dishes I could find, and I started the dishwasher and did half the upper cabinets with liquid gold. It’s already helping me feel better, I was able to shampoo half my bedroom where he locked the 85 pound dog while I was gone and he had no choice but to urinate on the carpet, well, he tried to do it on a towel that fell off the over the door hook, but his urine spots are like a quart every time.
Sons coming out of his depressive state now, there’s no reason to be upset with him, he doesn’t have very many really bad days so…

I have problems with staying on task when cleaning house. I'll start in one room and one task and then see another job that needs to be done and start that task. I'll drift from room to room. I eventually get it all done, but I feel like I have more work to do then when I start midway through.

Thank you for the advice about thinking of cleaning as cleaning one small area instead of geting overwhelmed with the fact that you have to clean the whole room. It makes me able to clean my house, even the difficult areas which I have struggled with in the past.

I don't have ADHD but the small area thing really clicked. It's what I do intuitively and if I get tired after cleaning a 'section' or realise that the space is now good enough then I can peacefully and easily stop.
For day to day l almost never clean a whole room. I mostly tackle the worst sections or chunks of mess and then call it a day

I am an hour and 17 minutes late wishing you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY, "Shoe-Match-Johnny". I admired the nice choice of shirts as I have a nearly identical one myself. Nice to see Dave Grohl take a break from drumming to become "Daniel" the cleaning guy. You're both well-choreographed cleaning that kitchen. Look! More dishes!! 😂😂

Hi, I know this was two months ago but coincidentally I’m watching this on my birthday 🎂 lol. I appreciate the way you talk about breaking up the cleaning in sections. If there’s neurodivergence, which I have in my family, the tasks become overwhelming. I’m the autistic cleaner in the family like you. Your show resonates with me.

first happy birthday, ok so when you said a man in his seventys living alone house my first thought was this is gonna be bad, but most of your videos i watched were womens houses and this guy put all them to shame because his was the neatest, a little cluttered but not like we've seen before, i love all the wood in his house.

Love the shout out to Greg Davies and Alex Horne. In the UK we call the thing that goes in the sink a “thingamabob”. Happy Birthday (please don’t set Daniel on fire, he looks like a champion washer-upper), thanks for all the chuckles and handy tips, cheers!
