    Be sure to use a hardened oil pump drive shaft. I didn't and it left me stranded on the road once. The drive comes from the distributor which is turned by the cam. An aftermarket pump needs more power and the stock shaft is not up to the task.

      @deeremeyer1749 Год назад

      You don't use a torque plate "boring out a block". It's used when finish-honing and is only "recommended" for "high performance" POS "thin-wall casting" blocks with 4 head bolts per cylinder "bored out to the max". Meaning all Ford "high performance" OHV V8s.

    • @albertgaspar627
      @albertgaspar627 Год назад

      @@deeremeyer1749Ah, that must be why torque plates are always used on Chevy Gen One engines with 5 bolts per cylinder :) Boring out the block does all the work, finish honing merely leaves a surface for the oil film, and if you want ring seal to last beyond 10,000 miles, professionals use a torque plate. The only time a torque plate is ever skipped on a real engine build is when the engine design bolts the head into the block's walls, like Pontiac blocks. Otherwise, when the head bolts go into the deck, you torque plate to replicate the distortion to the bore.

    the only thing they don't tell you about the E3 plugs is that they promote detonation because the increased mass of the enlarged side electrode acts as a heat soak, and runs the electrode hotter for the same heat range of plug. that's where the improvements come on the computer, but if you drive up in the low mountains on a hot humid day, the motor will ping like a popcorn maker under high load, low throttle lugging. so when you reduce your timing advance to compensate, those so called improvements are out the window. just stick to OEM style resistor plugs and change them every 12k if it's a driver. they have been trying to sell goofy spark plugs since day one, and they never catch on. for a reason.

    If Ford had been smarter back in the 80s they would've made engines like the 460 multivalve and supercharged. That's the simplest way for these older engines to get higher horsepower and torque while still meeting emission standards. It's more costly but it would get better performance either way.

    Lower oxides of nitrogen have shit to do with fuel economy.
    In fact, the CO and CO2 emissions are potentially quite deceptive because 'fuel economy' ONLY equates to how much work is done.
    An engine freewheeling with no load gets ZERO 'fuel economy' to the wheel.
    You actually have to do REAL WORLD WORK to achieve a REAL fuel economy [unless you are an oil billionaire, in which case, the worse mileage the car gets, the better for YOUR economy] you have to move a unit of mass, over a measurable distance, and then measure the volume of fuel consumed, and calculate how much fuel it requires/required to move said load, said distance, [and potentially including 'said time,' because acceleration, internal mechanical resistance, wind and rolling resistance all affect the final result, and change with both speed, vehicle mass, body streamlining and road/terrain conditions] and that will be your fuel mileage [not really the same thing as 'fuel economy', seeing 'economy' is a badly used word here adopted from the days when the price of fuel was first introduced into the equation, back when OPEC first instituted their oil embargo, and the prices of fuel skyrocketed.
