You can see the front drive shaft spinning. So, it was in 4wd. So, Ford uses what they call, "auto locking hubs". Its actually a similar idea to the torque setting on a drill. When there is sufficient torque to the wheel, the hub lets go. This is for driving on snowy roads. It keeps the drive line from binding up when turning on a dry spot. Totally worthless on rugged terrain, mud, and sand. The hubs have knobs that you can turn to "Lock" for these cases. The guy had hub caps on the wheels that covered those up. Oh, and those tires have no business being off the pavement.
Front auto-hubs are vacuum actuated. A common vacuum leak to the front hubs wont allow them to engage, if his hub selectors were exposed he could manually lock the hubs, as you stated.
@trd4d not true, when locked either with vacuum or by manually turning them to lock them in is a solid gear on spline lock, there's no slip of any kind in the hub unless the gear inside them totally fails, these are very strong so this is definitely a vacuum leak issue.
What's the matter with the raggedy forge 4 wheel drive? Does it work typical with that year Forward, pick up, it's all look Nothing else. It shouldn't even beyond the beach, especially with those types of tires and wheeis what a junk

@@21psdactually the auto hubs on these are more like the diff on an AWD. Works great in ice, but slip in sand. Probably not a vacuum leak.
