My birthday is August 3rd. So on my 28th birthday I got myself a 2020 Ruckus with 2600 miles, for $1200 on Craigslist. I'm 315 pounds, and it comfortably does 35-38mph, with occasionally dropping to 25-30mph on uphills. Love this thing, and I'm only a few hours into ownership.
I needed this comment as well considering I am 6’2 at 260 pounds I was very skeptical about purchasing one of these thinking that I would be too heavy for it to get up to a decent speed I’m going to go look at a 2022 ruckus today in hopes of purchase
I have a 2020 Ruckus. I added a Cycle Racks rear rack that I mounted a " CRAFTSMAN VERSASTACK System 17-in Red Plastic Lockable Tool Box " that I got at Lowes for 30 bucks because it fits my full face helmet. I also mounted a " CleverMade CleverCrate 45-Liter Collapsible Utility Crate in Grey " to the top of the toolbox that I got at Bed Bath & Beyond for 15 bucks and that allows for even more storage when it's needed. Otherwise it stays folded flat and out of the way.
Congrats on the house brother! Can't wait to see you transition from Vans to the all white slightly grass stained lawn mowing shoes with the ankle high crew socks. I can picture all the home equipment/ modification vids now! I am here for it!
So, you said this was “somewhere in Colorado”. As a frequent visitor from Iowa, will this carry you on roads like Fall River Road in Estes Park, or Rampart Range Road/Gold Camp Rd in Colorado Springs?
My new crf450r is a blast to rip on . However, my ruckus is a absolute blast to explore and cruise around on. And like a typical Honda, it will never let you down or make you walk! The best parts are insane MPG, no insurance, and just straight up fun!
In 2009, at 59, I purchased a 3 year old, leftover, new on the showroom floor "PS250 Honda Big Ruckus". It was my sixth cycle addition to my garage stable. My first scooter, my top speed downhill was 80mph & my best gas mileage was 80mpg, just not at the same time, lol. It was a howl to own & ride. It had a flip up passenger pillion that converted to a backrest & the frame tubes were exposed with the drivetrain fully enclosed in plastic panels between the tubes. I ended up trading it along with 2 of my other bikes, for the "2017 Triumph Bonneville Bobber", 1200cc parallel twin, with a tractor pan saddle, for a hot sticky weather hooligan bike. I now own that & a 2007 Suzuki 1250 Bandit, which is my sport touring bike. What's wrong with 2 1200's in the garage? I'm still giggling inside my helmet each time I ride either one!!!
I vote for the transmission upgrades to tune to your weight, then a small stretch, lowered seat and bars, cable tuck for a minimalist look. Then upgrades to the stock engine. I think the stock engine is cooler and probably much more reliable long term than the GY6 swaps
@@SanProsan1993 / Torque and 50cc engines aren't synonymous correlations. What those mods do is raise your top RPM once you've reached top out and increases your top speed. I have the Big Ruckus a 250cc . They only made them in 05 and 06. You could probably find a Ruckus Club. I went on a ride with one in Orlando but rode my old Vespa P200e. They were mostly converted to 150cc and one guy had one with a Honda Silverwing engine and nearly murdered himself showing off. Good times to be had in the scoot life. It’s a culture with many sub sects for whatever you ride.
I know the original author probably won’t read this, but I just bought a 2022 Ruckus and it looks exactly like his. I wanted the blue and white model but I ordered it in April for my BD in May and it just showed up last week. And they got 3 Ruckus’ in and they were all gray. I didn’t want to wait anymore because I’ve wanted one since I first saw one last year. Such a smooth ride!! Oh yeah, Thumbed and Subbed!
My birthday is on July 26th and I'm getting myself one! See you all when I do!! I'm so excited. I've had one before and this bike is grossly underrated.
Happy belated birthday dude. Home building, etc videos would be cool, but I understand you wanting certain things to remain private. Either way, congrats!
Never wanted a scooter until now. Thanks Talon lol. Also congrats on the house! I’d be one of the people that’s interested in seeing some photos or videos of it.
Great news on the house … looking forward to the shop tour but only share what you are comfortable with on the house … totally respect that privacy and you share so much … Ash on the Rukus & Talon on the Grom … I am here for that …
Hi Talon, I feel you should start showing the house build. If you haven’t done so already…take a look at Off the Ranch’s, We Bought an Abandoned Mansion series. He gets so many views, it’s crazy. People are just into watching videos that show progression, like your Van videos that show the various upgrades and add ons.
I rode similar scooter in Beijing when I was in college. Great memories. This kind of scooters are good for big cities, not good for highway and suburban areas
Between the Grey Sprinter and the grey Ruckus, you’re livin the dream. Nice birthday gift to self. I’m doing the same come bonus season.. and got the same black Vans and similar tattoos… I think we’ve become a cliché. 😬
Oh, you can wheelie a stock ruckus...just gotta stand up on the rear frame. Also it comes stock with hand rear brake so you're already half way to stunting lol
For everything you share with the world, there is so much we don’t see! It’s great knowing that you keep a few cards close to the chest! But I do have to say, seeing the house progression would be cool to see as well! Share only what you want but just know, we would love to see all you want to share. Keep it up man!
I'm all for house content! I respect you not revealing a lot about it, but I'm going to be going through that process at the end of the year, so i'd love to see whatever you want to share!
Great news on the new home!! So perhaps HGTV may call you along with the Discovery Channel! As to videos on your home’s building process I respect your need for privacy but I think many viewers would enjoy learning about any really cool “stuff & things” that you learn or incorporate in building process. By the way, I’ve never heard you sound so excited before. Enjoy this new adventure!
I'm sure most of us would really enjoy seeing everything and anything around your new home. However, having a private life is important so we can respect your decision to keep things to yourself.
Great bike i just bought one for my sprinter van. Best hog to move around the village once you are camp. Good luck with your new house Saludos from Madrid Spain
Mod the ruck, and do some dual vlogs with Ashley once the grom comes in. Those are fun to edit and pretty interesting to watch....you can do an "on the move" podcast style videos 🛵🛵 🤙🏼
I run 41 with mine no problem and it launches better than yours did, it's a 2020 and I changed to a continental belt and 9 .g Dr pulley sliders. She launches good tops out at 41-42 on flat land, it also doesn't drop off in the wind or up hill like it did before with stock rollers. I also run higher quality fuel, I found pump gas the quality is terrible and inconsistent and that drastically effects performance. With the quality fuel I use I get a good clean full fuel burn so no black carbon buildup all over everything unlike if I use dirty pump gas. Want any other tips or any questions feel free to message me anytime
See. The perspective before buying makes a difference. I also had a Ninja/Ruckus combo (traded the ninja recently for a car purchase, ill have another someday). But I got my Ruckus FIRST and than later on got a Ninja 300. So the acceleration and speed on the scooter was never a big deal for me being that it was my first 2 wheeled ride. I bought the same one a day before you posted the pics LOL. same color too. i got 120 on mine, in PA... lots of hills near me so, first fill up was at 100 and the light didn't come on yet took a little less than a gallon.
