    I feel like Tamron specifically had wedding shooters in mind when making this lens. This is a great example of a company really understanding what their customers want, which is why it's STILL back ordered a year after its release.
    I also have a feeling it's the biggest reason many people are switching to Sony at the moment.

    • @catalin-ap
      @catalin-ap Год назад +7

      I sold both a Sigma 24 70 2.8 DG DN, and Tamron's then only about a year old 70-180 2.8, to get the 35-150 2-2.8 a month from release (since then being backordered in almost every country and online shop).
      It's a large, heavy lens (a bit smaller and lighter than a standard 70-200 2.8), but for what is does (replacing a 35mm 1.8, a 50mm, 85mm, 105mm, 135mm, and everything in-between and up to 150mm) and the sharpness, very low CA, and great AF performance it has, it's all worth it.
      Tamron, however, markets it as a "travel lens", but it certainly highly appeals wedding & event photographers, as well as some portait photographers (that prefer versatility, and want to have f/1.4 and f/1.2, or that stick to one or two focal lenghts).
      And if 35mm is not enough, you can have another body with either a small and light Tamron 20-40mm 2.8, or 17-28 2.8, or Sigma 16-28 2.8, or Sony 16-35 f4 PZ. Or even an APS-C body with the ultra-sharp and light Tamron 11-20mm 2.8 (about 16.5-30mm f/4.2 equiv. on full frame). Or, of course, a 14-24mm f/2.8, or the superb, very expensive, quite light, Sony 12-24mm f/2.8 GM.
      Regarding the switch to Sony, there are a (whole) lot of reasons to switch. The first enormous success was the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 RXD, it made a lot of people to switch to using the Sony a7 III. Today, on the 24-70/28-70/75 f/2.8 range, there are no less than 7 native lenses (2 Sony, 2 Tamron, 2 Sigma, 1 Samyang) each with their own advantages and disadvantages. Compare that to 2 on L-mount (1 Panasonic, 1 Sigma), 1 on Canon RF, 2 on Nikon Z (24-70 + rebadged Tamron 28-75 G1).
      The 35-150 2-2.8 is not just a unique lens that has a great build quality and great image quality, but it's also extremely versatile and useful for a lot of real-life photo applications and genres.

      I've been using it on both my Sony and Nikon bodies. The Megadap ETZ21 works really, really well with this lens. Currently playing with the 20-40 as a complement. So far so happy.

      This lens is part of the reason why I switched back to Sony. I do have sigma’s 24 and 85 1.4 though for if I need something wider or something brighter

    • @2000sidhupunjab
      @2000sidhupunjab Год назад +1

      The biggest reason for astrophotographers is Sony 20mm G, for wildlife 200-600 G, for prime shooters 35 GM is arguably THE best lens ever on any mount, followed by 24 and 50mm GM's. This Tamron would have been a much bigger success than what it already is if Sony had not released the GM II 70-200, that lens is crazy light, with OSS and renders beautifully and is compatible with teleconverters. GM II is just a dream lens. I wish Tamron went with 28-135 or 24-105 (my fav lens is 24-105 G) instead of 35-150. This lens still warrants carrying a 16-35 GM or PZ.

    When it came to photograph in low light at reception you could see the noise pretty well, I think in those situations it’s better to have a 50/85 1.4 ,as to me even on RUclips where it’s compressed ,that noise is distracting at least to my eyes. Speedlights in the corners, on camera or 1.4 glass would help mitigate that better 🤔

      @@TaylorJacksonPhoto yeah I checked the other packs and they all are pretty faded with some exceptions. Which seems right. But I noticed this one in the video seems really out of camera-esque with the fading but when I tried it, it didn’t look close at all so I was confused. I just recently bought all the packs too haha so I’m not sure if maybe my laptop just bugged out

      It is both of these lenses as one. Weighs more like an older 70-200

    i run a production company. While this lens is extremely useful in terms of bassicaly on needing one lense for the entire day. it's just not sharp enough to warrant using it. We'll stick to our Canon RF trinity

      @@TaylorJacksonPhoto its 80% great, but not quite, especially in the corners with poor sharpness and vignetting at low apertures. you also talked about the mist effect which is true.
      this lense will serve most people well. But those who want the absolute best of the best should still stick to their standard range G master or RF zoom lenses, or primes

    I wouldn’t pay top money to a wedding photographer who doesn’t use flash lighting and who uses budget lenses as I’ve seen at the past 6 weddings this year 😮 a lot of weddings photographers think that clients are clueless
