Current switch has internal 720p display with 1080p max external but with android or Linux you can get 4k for videos and it's not that bad
@@he8535your eyes will not be able to see a clear difference between Full HD and even 8K unless you are using a big screen like a television or a big monitor.
I would much rather they put some upscaling hardware on the dock if they make it a hybird console again that will upscale the games to 4K from 1080p so we can enjoy a smaller and cheaper console that isn't overpowered for what it will be used for

Trust me, with how small the switch's screen is, 1080p will feel like 4k because of it's pixel density

I'm more and more opposed to raising resolution on platforms. I feel like 1080 is more than adequate for handheld devices. 1440 is perfect for monitors and 4k is more of a TV resolution. Anything beyond that is for photo's and videos so you can crop them to lower resolutions without losing quality. Maybe 8k could be cool for ridiculously big TVs but that is quite a niche market.
Or it can be capable pro projecting the 4k graphics but the device is 1080p?

I would take the 1080p option. The screens so small it be more adjacent to 720p, but because its cheaper, 1080p is perfect for a new system.
I'd also like to see a world where a 4k 7 inch screen would only bring it to 500 lol.

1440p for $400 seems like the better deal
for 400 bucks best deal will be 720 in portable and 1080 in dock ,because rog ally cant run normal 1080 and it costs 700$

@@Sothus2It's not as simple as just "moving on" from 1080. Technology literally can't, at least not in any feasible way. Expect to pay upwards of $600 and get a 20 minute battery life. Remember that cooling and battery life are the main issues here.
@@tetermc okay true about the battery life but in the video it was 300 for 1080 and 500 for 4k the mid of both would be 400 for 1440 it wasnt a question of how but if. true itll cost alot and have short battery but that wasnt the question and who knows what the next 5 years may bring for tech. Maybe they can make a battery last longer. But i do agree what your saying its just not what the question was

Don't forget. No stick drift. It can have a cleaning case for the joy cons or even a couple controllers ( joy cons or not). You can never have too many controllers.

@neek4872 no. More than likely, you're looking at 1080 RIGHT NOW on yt. Most phone screens aren't 4k bc they're too small to even see a difference. Physically impossible. That's why making the switch 4k is stupid, you literally can't see it. You could make the specs of the switch offer 4k so you can play it on the dock, though. But even still, plenty of people just don't have 4k screens or even care. So increasing switch specs, and therefore price are a hard bargain for a majority of people that play switch

Um if they were less expensive, we would have a worst controller due to how advanced the joy-cons are (wireless, 2 can be used at the same time, hd rumble, ir camera, motion controls, etc)

Considering the intent of making the joycons usable sideways for a quick local multiplayer style, I don’t hate how they’re designed now.
For games like Mario kart, i prefer using it sideways since i'm a gyro player in that game.
How often do people really use that feature. Most people play games online and not on the couch now.

yeah they are nice if you have small hands. If you have big hands its very annoying to use and feels like the controller is missing a grip. Sideways its pretty good though

Yeah but in reality it would cost at most $50-100 more to get that big of a jump in graphics especially since the switch only outputs 720p not even 1080p.
@@jtland4842as a avid switch player, I don't care if the game looks amazing, if I'm being honest people just use modern jumps in graphics to be lazy and come up with Uber realistic games all the time, usually without any flair.

No? PlayStation doesn't have a problem like this. The reason the Wii U name sucked is because people thought that it was just a gamepad add-on for the Wii.
1080p for handheld is more than enough. Just do the 1440p or 4k for when its docked cause that’s the only time you will notice the higher resolution, when its outputting to a tv. Plus, a 1080p screen will help keep handheld mode battery life still good. Heck, even the Steam Deck caps out at 800p, because again you won’t see any difference beyond 1080p on a small screen plus battery life concerns.
if mario kart 8 came out 3 years before mario odyssey, it technically foreshadowed mario odyssey because on toads turnpike on the back of a truck you can see cappy's very large eyes.
Gamers really would rather pay more for better graphics than pay less for graphics that looks just as good.

I want 1080 handheld and maybe 1440p docked, I have little issue with the resolutions I just want to up the performance for third party games and it have more than enough performance for the next Zelda games. And to stop getting Pokemon games that can't render shadows

Although Mario kart hasn’t gotten a new game in 10 years, once you beat a 3d Mario game (Mario Odyssey for example) there isn’t much to do when you beat it but Mario kart is always fun and they dropped the dlc for new tracks to continue to play

Screen size on any handled is too small for a 4k display. So it's best to keep it 1080p or 1440p max maybe have hardware that supports 4k/upscaled 4k on output instead.

On such a small screen you wouldn't notice much of a difference between 1080 and 4k. Refresh rate is more important. Not to mention 4k will mean the system will need to render more, therefore reducing battery life and framerate

There is already a Mario Kart 9 which is the mobile game. Nintendo counts every Mario Kart iteration no matter what platform it is on, so next Mario Kart will be Mario Kart 10 (or maybe they might name it something entirely different)
