@@InputEvelution Wasn't Mushroom Hill Zone in that early prototype that was uncovered recently? That drum line was likely an intentional nod to Mushroom Hills role as Knuckles home as shown in his S&K intro.
This music makes me think of Knuckles more than any other song. It personifies his ability to glide and climb. It was the first game I ever played as Knuckles.
@@camo6465No? In sonic and knuckles the knuckles theme is not in any way similar to the one in sonic 3. The drum beat in mhz being similar to the sonic 3 knuckles theme is a coincidence because it's a s&k zone, not a s3 zone

Before, When I wrote video game music, I used to think it wasn't good enough because I only used like three instruments. But then I started watching these. These songs use like 5 instruments with one being echo and two being the same chord and they sound really good.
Meanwhile, the NES only had 5 channels (two pulse wave, one triangle wave, one noise channel and DPCM playback) so many songs on the NES had to adhere to similar, if not worse, restrictions.
Oh shit you're back!? Sorry last i saw your channel was on that green hills video that was randomly suggested to me. This is a welcoming suprise for sure.
It's an easy way to create a slight echo if the hardware doesn't natively support it. It's common on many NES tracks as well with the 2 square wave channels.
Franniel Martinez I’m more curious on why the echo is necessary honestly.

And what about the SNES? It could natively create echo, though maybe not stereo-varying dry/wet level(s), am I right? I just don't know (for sure) really, man.
@@bluerious5475 Music producers use panning and echo to trick your brain into thinking sounds are coming from different directions, it makes it easier for you to separate them in your head. It also makes it sound like the sound is playing in an actual room rather than just being shoved right into your ears. It kinda "softens" it (a track in a recording with lots of echo/reverb/flange/etc is often called 'wet' as opposed to 'dry') Basically, no sound you hear in real life is ever without echo or reverb of some kind, because sound always bounces off something. A sound that is too clean and dry comes off as artificial-sounding because it really is.

The Gaming Pocket It’s probably because they’re meant to harmonize with the rest of the song. It’s playing the chord progression, and not the main melody.
Holy crap I never realized the drums in this song have a segment almost identical to the drums in Knuckles’ theme! That’s a heck of an Easter egg!

This deconstruction makes me really understand the change in bass between the beta version and the final.
Me to
The final one sounds more mushroom-y
Can we just point out how funky the bass line is for this song.
0:40 Emerald Hill Zone
Yea it’s actually emerald hill zone. Some guy called Alex Yard made a video analysis where he sees thru the whole music and blah blah blah
Fun Fact: This is One of 2 themes that uses Knuckles Theme from Sonic 3 as a Base in DAC, being the other the well known Mid-Boss Theme from Sonic 3
This makes me think that both of the songs are just arrangements

2:56 Knuckles' Theme.
but bass
very underappreciated track in the OST imo
the fact cannel 1 sounds like how actual mushrooms sound is honestly cool
Yeah that’s what makes this song feel bouncy
Fun fact:
The Prototype name of this zone was “Mushroom Valley Zone” and not “Mushroom Hill Zone”
Me who play s3&sk&s3&kC:always knew
Honestly it would've made more sense to call the stage mushroom valley.

Any explanation as to why so many of the melodies in the songs have 2 versions of it, one being slightly delayed?
