The Lexus LX570 is Incredibly Frustrating

  • I give you the background on the Lexus LX and then review the 2019 Lexus LX570. Sharing its bones and major under-the-surface components with the Toyota Land Cruiser, the Lexus LX570 offers great quality and dependability, but its simply too old to be competitive in today's full-size luxury SUV segment.

    My wife bought me a 2018 Lx570 in Nov 2017. Used it in my hunting trips, outdoor camping, and shooting with my family and pals. It has never let me down. Everytime I decide to use it, I’m confident it will take me where I need to go. Almost 7 years old but still so low maintenance and so comfortable…it’s so boring!🤪🤪 Anyway, if you still think of gas prices, stop thinking of buying an suv, a real suv.

    Everything you complained about is why I just bought a 21 LX570. Reliability. I’ll be driving this when you file for social security.

    why does it need better mpg? natural v8 has linear power output at most high speeds compared to turbo engines. they are also half a million miles more reliable. whoever can offer it don't care too much about gas price. it doesn't need to drive like a sports car which is not meant to be. LX has a specific type of buyers. it has its drawbacks like going to the gas station a lot more but nothing is perfect. you buy what you like and can afford.

    Really surprised by this review, especially considering the reviewer owns an LC200. Reviewing it as a purchase for 3yrs or so the vehicle doesn’t make a lot of sense. Coming at it as a 10-20yr purchase and the vehicle makes a lot of sense.

    This is prime example how people will say bad things about masterpieces of automotive engineering.
    This day’s people buy cars for android and apple connectivity and forget about actual car functionality and reliability.
    This car will outperform outlast any other similar car and will give you and your family reliability to get to any destination in prime safety.
    I am sure you will appreciate your android connectivity when you wait for towing truck in middle of nowhere with your kids and wife looking at you….
    Every person who knows about cars will appreciate this vehicle and what it provides.

    Your talking about bells and whistles nothing of substance. This vehicle is bulletproof and is one of the reasons Lexus hasn’t gotten rid of it.

    The only thing that is frustrating to me is that this Lexus will do anything a raptor does.. all it needs is a skid plate. People don’t mind buying a ford raptor for almost a 100k.. but for a vehicle that’s hands down a thousand times more long lasting why not? I see. It’s better for some people to buy something thatll not last so long Incase they get tired of it or for when it breaks down they can buy the same vehicle so it’ll cost you more than the Lexus that will last you the 2 times you buy a car

    • @ChrisONeillUSA
      @ChrisONeillUSA  4 года назад

      I feel the same way. Unfortunately few people today keep a vehicle for more than 6 years or so, so the market for an unbreakable vehicle like the LX/Land Cruiser is shrinking. Also, Ford can then sell you three Raptors over the course of 15 years, while Toyota/Lexus will only sell you one LC/LX... so there's less profit in longer-lasting vehicles.

    I have a 2015 with 140k on it. Never had a problem with it except for basic maintenance. Rides and sounds like a new vehicle. From a mechanic point of view. Hands down still the best full size SUV. Of course the Land cruiser is the same. Just a little less luxury amenities.

    It need to change the engine horrible gas miles vs. other competition. Everyone complain about the cramp 3rd rows, it need to Flip FLAT instead on the side and lastly little more CARGO room when 3rd rows up. Just copy the current Sequoia 3rd rows and Cargo to the next LX.

    I wish you would have posted some off-road footage. It’s not quite 2:1 LX to LC. Last year it was ~30% more. In 2017 it was almost 2:1. Also, don’t really understand how you can love the LX so much but be so sown on the LX for not having updates. It’s really a only styling difference.

    • @ChrisONeillUSA
      @ChrisONeillUSA  4 года назад

      It's possible to like something but also be critical of it... This is a car review after all. The LX is a fantastic vehicle, but it's also faulted in numerous ways. It's got an extremely high ceiling, but it comes up short of its ceiling for stupid, avoidable reasons. Lots of low hanging fruit that Lexus/Toyota could fix, but they simply choose not to.

    • @ChrisONeillUSA

      Chris O'Neill I definitely think you can, however, you didn’t seem nearly as critical of the Land Cruiser for very similar short comings (IMO). Thanks for your videos, keep up the good work.

    Bro rocking frustratingly basic and bland wayfarers and an old-school patagonia puffer spends most of the video bitching and moaning about Lexus keeping a boring and bland yet popular luxury SUV around. I love it.

    The problem with Toyota is for a long time they provided the minimum of what a customer wants and needs. The vehicles last for years longer than the competition, but with less features, safety and dynamics than the competition. For some models there have been changes, but others are dying a long slow painful death.
