a lot of the criticism this album experienced when it first came out revolved on the fact it’s quite “messy” in terms of cohesiveness since she was mixing so many production styles. I be like fully healed and then Better Man plays, and all my progress on healing is gone, and I'm missing him again. my all time favorite vault track despite how painful it is
You’ll understand why 22 was after All Too Well after you listen to “The Moment I Knew” and “All Too Well 10Min version” but you were pretty close on why. It’s also just a way to pick the album back up :)
After listening to the 10 min version when it came out, i fully understand why 22 was the next track and why it was so upbeat. It make sense now, because i was just puzzled when I first listened it back in Red 2012 😂😂
you are so cute and pretty and genuine AND you speak in a way that is so sweet I CAN LITERALLY LISTEN TO YOU TALK AND ANALYSE FOR HOURS idk how it is so addicting.
As an old swiftie, I just have so much fun seeing new people becoming a Taylor Swift fan because I see myself in your reactions when I was younger. Welcome aboard! 😅
“Ronan” is a song you’ll listen to when you hear the vault. The song was on the original version of red and I recommended learning a bit about the song before since it’s very personal
Absolutely don’t go into Ronan without knowing what it’s about. It is DEVASTATING. I cry every time I listen to it. Which is only like 4 times because it’s so emotional 😭
I read a comment a while ago where the person explained that the album is structured so two songs go together to explore opposing or similiar emotions: State of Grace vs. Red, Treacherous vs. I knew you were trouble, We are never ever getting back together vs. I almost do, The last time vs. Stay Stay Stay and the bonus/ vault tracks are like the missing pieces. This person called it the "mosaic broken heart" structure.
@ilni9364 probably because it's not cohesive in terms of production and songs display order - like how can you go from all too well to 22? Totally kills the vibe
@Shirin1903 sometimes people don't interpret the "hidden meaning" of an art work, so it's way easier to think that it's a messy display or even nonsense, like Billie eilish's birds of a feather videoclip. I'm not saying this is bad, but for most people -including me- things are the way they are
Omg I didn’t realize you were only 21!! Watching this I was blown away about how you’re able to completely nail what Taylor is saying in these songs and add additional insights on the lyrics and even the parallels in lyrics to other songs that I never noticed! Even with how the song order on the track list relate to each other and tell a story! I love hearing what you think about each album because I get to see these songs I love so much in a new light
Stay Stay Stay is a fantasy of a relationship that is healthy. The speaker expected a dramatic turn away because that's all she has known in relationships so far. They had an argument and she's used to that meaning the relationship is over without even trying to talk about why they argued in the first place.
And part of a healthy relationship is choosing each other every single day. It’s so Travis coded too which makes it a thousand times more adorable 💗 It’s a little toxic yes but omg aren’t we all at some level lol. The point is communication and working through things when they get to that level and being able to laugh about it and not dwell and get resentful. I’ve known and lost this type of love. It truly is the best and can feel just like this song does: cheesy and stupid happy. I will forever be a Stay Stay Stay defender!
59:31 there is absolutely a story through The Lucky One, The Lakes, Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me, Clara Bow, I Hate It Here. Taylor has really been singing about how horrible being famous is and how she wishes to escape for a very long time. Which is interesting because she obviously loves her job and being successful, but she doesn’t sing about that nearly as often as how she despises celebrity culture.
I truly believe that not only does Taylor love doing what she does and love being successful, I think she loves being famous. There can be good and bad to anything and there's definitely a lot of bad to go with fame especially at her level, but while she can explore those sides and struggle with it I'm pretty sure she knows there's a lot of awesome stuff to it as well and enjoys it
Girl you have such a good head on your shoulders and are so mature for 21. Keep doing you, you are so intelligent! You pick up on meanings so easily and I can see that you make good decisions in your life. Well done.
interesting fact about holy ground: with the line about “perfect rhymes”, the first verse of the song only has perfect rhymes (day/away, time/rhyme) while the second verse only has skewed rhymes! (dress/selves, you/lose, etc)
Clara Bow really is The Lucky One’s sister in my opinion. Also it blew my mind that you’ve never heard the major hits like 22, but when you said you’re not 22 yet, it made sense. I turned 22 the year after this album came out and this song played at every birthday party and was everyone’s Instagram caption.
It’s stunning and made me cry the first time I heard it. I also love the subtle call back to the album red (as opposed to the song) in Welcome to New York, “took our broken hearts, put ‘em in a drawer”. The start of a new era and the end of another. So clever
1:09:17 that’s Robert Kennedy. She wrote the song after watching a picture of him and Ethel when they were 17 at a party. She felt inspired by the picture and wrote a song telling the story of them on that night. Very hopeful and joyful, very different to the heartbreak and confusion of the rest of the album. She watches some other people being in love and happy and realizes that that’s what love should feel like.
How have I only just now found you? I loved this so much! Your breakdowns are so thoughtful. I can't wait to go back and see how your Taylor journey started and see how it progresses.I also can't wait for your reaction to All to Well 10 minute version. It's a game changer! Truly! 1:14:23 i love that you mentioned "circular" bc yes this is a part of the album. The album is a cycle. If you put it on repeat, after Begin Again comes State of Grace... again. Good, bad, childish, toxic, happy... It's a cycle, because after Begin Again comes State of Grace and the cycle of heartbreak starts yet again
yes she was 21-22 when she wrote the album. everything she does she does with purpose so 22 lines up perfectly, you’ll get it when you hear the vault tracks. Never ever getting back together is another example- while it was a jam i didn’t feel it wasn’t a great representation of her song writing skills but then i heard she made it over the top bubble gum pop bc her ex hated that music and then he had to hear this everywhere. now it makes me smile bc i love her pettiness 😂
Your analysis brings out so many things that I never noticed about these songs and this album before! I'm appreciating so many aspects I never noticed. This album used to rank a bit lower for me, but I'm starting to change my mind.
I remember being so mad that this album didn't win AOTY back at the time and I wasn't even a huge swiftie! And I still think about it today. Loved your reaction and review of the lyrics as always! (pd: excited for your reaction to the ten min version of All too well)
Ed Sheeran and Taylor are besties, they wrote everything has changed on a trampoline after they met and their friendship is very special to both of them. If you watch the music video to everything has changed and then watch Ed’s song the Joker and the queen and watch his video it is a continuation of this song with the two child actors in both videos! I think everything has changed once Ed and Taylor met cause they just knew they they met their forever friend! I went to the red tour and he opened for Taylor and at that time his career was just starting and I thought to myself this kid is going to be huge! Both great artists!
She wrote Starlight after seeing a photo of Ethel and Bobby Kennedy dancing together when they were 17. At the time she was dating their grandson Connor Kennedy.
You are my favorite to watch in terms of reviews. You have such a knack for finding depth and meaning in the songs and it brings new life to the music for me. Excited to see what you think of the second half!!
Girl, I was shook when you said you are not 22 yet. You have such a strong understanding of the nuance of heartbreak and love portrayed in Taylor's lyrics for someone your age, like I think a lot of Taylor's songs (especially folklore and beyond) would have been completely lost on me at 21 years old🤣
It's rumored the song, The Lucky One is about Joni Mitchell and Kim Wilde, how they escaped, just like you thought. Taylor understands what it feels like to want to get away from the media and negativity. Just my perspective and things I've heard about those songs. I consider myself a swiftie at 72, but I don't have the knowlede about her songs that her longtime Swifties have. So I look them up to betted appreciate where here lyrics may have originated. She's so amazingly talented with writing lyrics.
I always tell people there is a Taylor Album for all ages and situations you are going through, I think favorites can change as we change, while Folklore has been my number one since it came out my two and three change all the time depending on my mood. Can not wait for you to get to the 10min version, it is the original version but her label said cut it down no one wants a 10min song. She said in an interview the original was 10min and fans asked her to release it for years until Red Tayor's Version. Also, the music video for it is EVERYTHING and a MUST watch.
Girl I absolutely LOVE you lyric analyses!! Out so many of my thoughts into words and after years of listening new appreciation and realization in the lyrics
Girl!! I can't even begin to say how much I enjoy watching you "get" Taylor & her music so well in time! You ARE a Swiftie I hate to break it to you but I see my exact own journey here I was the exact same way on my experience going back & taking in Taylor's discography lol it's so hilarious seeing other people have the same epiphanies & connections to what she's saying & how she's saying it is just so special! I look forward to anything you post reacting to her!!! I think you're an awesome person with a super personality!! Keep em coming girl!!! Can't wait for part 2 of Red ❤❤❤❤
Taylor and Ed have been friends for over a decade. They've also collaborated in each other's projects several times. If you're interested, you should check out Ed's discography too. Much like Taylor, the public are quick to judge his entire artistry just based on his singles but when you actually take the time to listen to him with an open mind and discover his deep cuts, you'll actually appreciate how great of a songwriter he is.
you should try listening to og All Too Well. i think the experience is completely different. A lot of swifties have noticed that the new version does sound reminiscent, and taylor's approach on singing it changed. In the og, it's like you can hear that the break up was still so fresh. the heartbreak and anger was so clear in her voice.
non anal fans that aren't stans don't have a problem with the new song because there's nothing wrong with it, if the stans said the 10 min version had so much passion, what's different from the OG? she's not a 21 year old anymore
I love how she breakdowns the songs lyrics and makes comparisons to another Taylor's songs and search for a meaning of the song!!! she's a great listener for that
Im sorry you’re going through a breakup sending you hugs!! This album is an amazing breakup album though… We are never ever getting back together was my morning alarm for a while after my biggest break up, and it actually really helped lol
Honestly, when you paused All Too Well right before it came to the bridge, one could tell that you were fighting off a bittersweet feeling/memory from welling up, and I started to do the same - from a memory 10 years ago. ATW is that good!!
40:26 We are never getting back together, the whole album actually, is about Jake Gyllenhaal. He was going back and forth with her for several months. She has said in interviews that the guy it’s about would tell her how he had to stop listening to a group because they were getting too popular. He liked everything to be super exclusive. So when they broke up she wanted to write a song g that was so super poppy that it would be played everywhere and he wouldn’t be able to escape it, knowing it was about him 😂🤣
Taylor has/had a fangirl fixation with the Kennedys. (Yes, those Kennedys). She dated Connor Kennedy for a few minutes. (He apparently got engaged recently). I don't think we have much shade to throw in his direction. He was just too young & I think only really interesting because he's part of the Kennedy dynasty. Taylor really bonded with his grandma, though. She absolutely adores Ethel Kennedy & wrote the song Starlight about Ethel & Bobby Kennedy. It's Kennedy FanFic.
1:09:15 leading up to the Red era, TS had this…*interesting* fascination with the Kennedy family, and even ended up dating one of the younger Kennedys (he’s who “Everything Has Changed” is about). “Starlight” is a song for Ethel Kennedy, who was married to RFK (“Bobby on the boardwalk”). …sometimes I think I need to clear such knowledge out of my brain and make room for more useful info 😅 EDIT: also, check out “Safe & Sound” and “Eyes Open” from this era. They’re both songs she did for The Hunger Games soundtrack.
Yay one of my fave Taylor albums! The only song on here I wish you could've heard in the original for the first time is all to well. The og hits so so much more than the rerecording😅 to the point that I actually can't listen to the rerecord. The 10 minute version is amazing though Great reaction as always!!
Love that you clocked the lucky one being about Clara Bow in the first listen! I realized that when I heard it 12 years ago when I was 12 and it was amazing this year having it come full circle with the confirmation of that in TTPD!! Love this reaction video ❤️
hahah the fact that she even did a mashup of the lucky one x clara bow. your mind >>. LOVE your reactions, thoughts, intrepretations and vibes, cant wait for more.
Starlight” is about Ethel and Bobby Kennedy, who are the grandparents of Conor Kennedy, whom Taylor was dating while writing for RED. She wote it after coming across a photo of the pair dancing when they were teenagers. Taylor is sooo talented.
I'm still on State of Grace but I just want to say I'm super excited to watch you discover this album! this is my most favorite album of hers before 2020 (blame folklore lol) update: love your fresh interpretations because you didn't really connect it to Tay-lore outside of this album, but also good that you catch the connection of The Lucky One with Clara Bow and the lakes.
Your reaction to All Too Well 10 Minute version is gonna be so good, I just know it 😩 I also can’t wait for you to hear Nothing New! Part 2 is gonna be so good 😁
I love your Taylor reactions so much. I love all of them, but these especially. Gosh I hope you're ready for PAIN in the back half of Red TV. I was always a fan of Taylor's music, but the Red album is what made me become a *Swiftie*. Headed over to check out your Chappell Roan reaction now because she just showed up on the scene and captured my heart this year for real.
I think this album just really depicts what it is like to be in a toxic cycle with someone and going through the motions of what those emotions and actions are. Perfection. She gets us lol
it's also THE autumn album, so that could've also been a factor, as autumn just officially started 6 days ago, although at least where i live it does not feel like it, lol
“Bobby” who’s on the boardwalk is Robert F Kennedy 😳 Taylor briefly dated one of the younger Kennedys while writing this album, and she met Ethel Kennedy and really liked her. While visiting her house she saw a picture of Ethel and Robert when they were young in 1945, and so she started daydreaming about what that day might have been like for them and wrote this song. She performed it to Ethel before putting it on the album 🙂
RED was, is, and ALWAYS will be that girlllll!! I will admit, I recognize her insane devotion and talent, but most of her stuff is just not my personal taste in music. But my sis was a superfan growing up and something about this album just HITS!! And it's perfect for fall time too!!
I just LOVE your Taylor album reviews, it’s always on point or u point out things I couldn’t quite put into words. U are so smart with it. Please continue to review her albums 🫶❤️
I would like to thank you guys for torturing me in the best way. Very grateful😭❤️
Love you girl❤
You just wait for part two if you haven’t listened to the remaining tracks already. This is the more heartbreaking part imo 🫠
I heard the OG album right after a breakup myself…and that’s when I became a Swiftie. 😂
I can’t wait to see you do the vault tracks!!! Better man was on repeat when little big town had the song out.
Sending light and love to you❤️
The entire album is Taylor saying you're full of red flags but red is my favourite colour 😂
😂
Excellent summary 🫶
Yaaaaass
Like even the scar is red 😂

this is THE breakup album
I see it as a grievance album about breakups, death of friend, death of child, death of innocence & nativity. It’s like top 3 TS album for me

Watching your reaction to this album gave me a brand new appreciation for this record. Especially the circle back of Begin Again to State of Grace. ❤️
OMGGG THANK YOUUU❤❤
Thank YOU for being here❤️❤️
Taylor and Ed have been friends for over a decade.
In the og, it's like you can hear that the break up was still so fresh. the heartbreak and anger was so clear in her voice.
non anal fans that aren't stans don't have a problem with the new song because there's nothing wrong with it, if the stans said the 10 min version had so much passion, what's different from the OG? she's not a 21 year old anymore
the bridge was crazy on the og
Nothing beats the 10 min version. It´s the only version for me now.
all too well sad girl autumn version is the only version i listen to now bc those note changes go HARD
@yara5502 try listening to atw10mv with the original production, it's so good
I love how she breakdowns the songs lyrics and makes comparisons to another Taylor's songs and search for a meaning of the song!!! she's a great listener for that
Im sorry you’re going through a breakup sending you hugs!!
This album is an amazing breakup album though… We are never ever getting back together was my morning alarm for a while after my biggest break up, and it actually really helped lol
I really liked your interpretation of Stay Stay Stay! I never thought about it that way and I love that I can hear the album that way now
i love your analyses you're so smart 😭😭
Excited for the bonus/vault tracks
we love the matching color, yass queen
Honestly, when you paused All Too Well right before it came to the bridge, one could tell that you were fighting off a bittersweet feeling/memory from welling up, and I started to do the same - from a memory 10 years ago. ATW is that good!!
40:26 We are never getting back together, the whole album actually, is about Jake Gyllenhaal. He was going back and forth with her for several months. She has said in interviews that the guy it’s about would tell her how he had to stop listening to a group because they were getting too popular. He liked everything to be super exclusive. So when they broke up she wanted to write a song g that was so super poppy that it would be played everywhere and he wouldn’t be able to escape it, knowing it was about him 😂🤣
NeeCee, you are one of the smartest reactors I’ve even seen!
…sometimes I think I need to clear such knowledge out of my brain and make room for more useful info 😅
EDIT: also, check out “Safe & Sound” and “Eyes Open” from this era. They’re both songs she did for The Hunger Games soundtrack.
safe & sound is soo good
The Kennedy hyper fixation is called special interest 😂
This is useful information!! Really important and useful (I just wrote a comment about the same topic)
Begin Again is also about Conor Kennedy
Omg yes she has to listen to safe and sound 😭
The red looks so good on you
you are so well spoken it’s incredible!! i’m surprised you haven’t gotten into taylor’s music until now because of her songwriting
You are gonna have so much fun watching the Eras tour movie when you get there! Hope you take us along
it’s increidble how i’ve been a swiftie for years and you still notice things that i’ve never noticed in her music! another amazing video as always :)
In behalf of all of us that voted for this album to be the next reaction, i say: girl i am so sorry 😭 but also really excited LMAO
Red turned me into a swiftie back in 2012 I was SO obsessed with this.
I'm still on State of Grace but I just want to say I'm super excited to watch you discover this album! this is my most favorite album of hers before 2020 (blame folklore lol)
update: love your fresh interpretations because you didn't really connect it to Tay-lore outside of this album, but also good that you catch the connection of The Lucky One with Clara Bow and the lakes.
Damn for 21 you are really analyzing the heck out of these songs and picking up more from them than I ever have 😅
The music videos during this era were the best one and I’m always going back them. They’re so nostalgic to me. ❤
Yay!!! While I adore every TS album, Red and Speak Now are so raw & real, the melodies & production give me life ❤️💜
Your reaction to All Too Well 10 Minute version is gonna be so good, I just know it 😩 I also can’t wait for you to hear Nothing New! Part 2 is gonna be so good 😁
We love u!!!
Thank you!
My first time hearing it.
Interesting to see her go from girl to woman. TTPD ……. I’ve lived them all!
Thank you soooo so much for making this reaction videos, we love you so muchhhh 😭😭💘
#1 State of Grace stan reporting for duty! I cannot wait to go on this journey with you, Red is my number one Taylor album
Girlllll its my first time seeing you and I'm sooo enjoying your vibe right away. I totally love how you break down the lyrics!
I’m so happy you listened to this album at the right time to get the full effect!
RED was, is, and ALWAYS will be that girlllll!! I will admit, I recognize her insane devotion and talent, but most of her stuff is just not my personal taste in music. But my sis was a superfan growing up and something about this album just HITS!! And it's perfect for fall time too!!
The outfit always slayyy💗💅
OMG SLAYYY ITS FINALLY HERE❤❤❤ ITS RE-E-E-ED AND RED IS AMAZING AND ITS AUTUMN THEMED IN AUTUMN SO THATS REASON WE CHOOSE IT BUT LOVE YOU BABES❤❤❤
I just LOVE your Taylor album reviews, it’s always on point or u point out things I couldn’t quite put into words. U are so smart with it. Please continue to review her albums 🫶❤️
NeeCee X you have become one of my favorite reactors!!!
Keep keepin it Real Girl!!!!
