I absolutely love state of grace acoustic. I definitely take it as the opposite side of the original track. Rather than being enthusiastic and hopeful for a new relationship, the narrator sounds exhausted and burnt out after a long attempt at a relationship. So beautiful!
Since this is your first “Taylor’s Version” album reaction, im not sure if you’re aware that when a song has “(From the Vault)” at the end of the title, it means that these are songs were made during the same period that the whole album was being created, but these “vault songs” are songs that never made it to the original album. They were scrapped out or left behind for one reason or another. So a cool thing that Taylor did during this whole “Taylor’s Version” project is she decided to include all these unreleased songs in all of her re-recorded albums. Idk if you already knew this or not but just thought I’d let you know in case you didn’t.❤

The main actors are Sadie Sink--who you may know as Max from Stranger Things--and Dylan O'Brien--who you may know as Stiles from Teen Wolf or Thomas from The Maze Runner, etc. they are EXCEPTIONAL in it!! Especially Sadie. Her performance was ASTOUNDING, especially for a 19 year old. One thing to know in advance: the age gap between Sadie and Dylan is intentional since it represents the 9 year age gap between Taylor and Jake Gyllenhall, whom this album is mostly about. Sadie was 19 at the time, and Dylan 30. So, they had an 11 year age gap. Taylor also released a behind-the-scenes video from making the film on RUclips about a year later!! She directed it herself. She even has a Directors-on-Directors episode with Variety in which she talks about how she made the film and found her actors. A couple of fun facts as well: there's a really famous scene in the short film of Sadie sobbing on her bed, and before filming Sadie listened to her crying song, which is Savior Complex by Phoebe Bridgers lol!! So many cool connections. Lastly, the house that they use in the short film is Taylor's really good friends Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's cabin house in upstate NY. The bookstore in the film is a real bookstore in NYC!!

When you said during girl at home that all the songs sound so diff, I remembered something Taylor said about Red, she said that this album is not quite sonically cohesive a little patchwork quilty because thats what heartbreak is, its not a string of sadness or healing its up and down and back and forth ❤❤

girl at home is actually written about zac efron and vanessa hudgens! zac and Taylor were both in the Lorax movie and the song reflects on an interaction they had at the movie premiere, the OG version was seen by Taylor as more of a demo and had a very simplistic guitar sound. Almost every song on Red is about Jake Gyllahanhaul, he was 30 and she was 20, turning 21 (The Moment I Knew) which is referenced in the 10-minute All Too Well. Taylor also dated John Mayer, he was 32 and she was 19!! Definitely bad judgment on his part. If you haven't reviewed the song she wrote when she was 19-20, called Dear John, I would recommend you see her sing it live at her Speak Now concert, it's incredible how she paints the story about him and lets him have it! She followed that up with another great song about him when she was 32, called Would've, Could've, Should've (the same age he was with her looking back at it with her 32-year-old eyes). It's an intense incredible song. Love all your videos and I click on them immediately when you post one! You get the meaning and the deeper meaning that a lot of reactors don't get on the first listen. All Too Well started out as a 10 minute song but was cut for the Red album. She mentioned that in an interview and the fans never shut up about it until she finally had an opportunity to give us what we want on the TV vault tracks. Or at least thats the lore... 😉
all too well was actually 24 minutes long initially when she originally made it backstage on tour with her band; we got some of those lyrics in the lover diaries but we still don’t have most of it. i still wonder if the fan theories that the original ending and outro were scrapped and changed is true… but needless to say (word to sabrina) she is truly an AMAZING writer to say the least!
I think what you were saying at 37:02 about the “crying in my room” line makes total sense! I think she may be getting at the fact that when she’s young, emotional songs about heartbreak or feeling strong emotions are cute, but once you’re an adult, the public might get fed up with those type of songs and tell her to grow up or be more mature instead of feeling these things that she was once praised for because it could be written off due to her youth

"Babe" the Vault Track were originally a song she has written in 2012, but later she worked with a band called Sugarland and was this band who released this song in a colaboration with Taylor in 2018, so you have another version of it if you wanted to listen. And also she has two songs she wrote for The Hunger Games movie in 2012, she released the TV version of that songs too with the cover of Red TV (i think she made it that way because that songs were originally released at the Red era in 2012)

you should definitely dive into Phoebe's discography!! There's a reason someone like Taylor is such a huge fan of her. Her songs are definitely complex (iykyk) so I recommend reading the lyrics on Genius and looking at the annotations after listening for a good explanation.

We’ve known about All Too Well (10 Minute Version) for a while and Swifties has been asking for her to release the original full song for YEARS (she made it shorter for the initial Red album). It was such a huge thing when she released it, the song actually broke the record for longest song to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart!
"Babe" actually became quite a hit for Sugarland when Taylor sold out the concept to them before she ever released it as a vault track, seeing as she did write it. I thought you might have recognized it from radio playlisting. My favourite thing is when people who have an unfair bias against Taylor listen to a song they dont realize was written by her and call it a banger when they wouldnt have said it if they had known. This also happened a lot with Cardigan, strangely, even though it was never released under someone else, they just didnt know it was her voice.

To answer who makes a 10 minute song, only Taylor can. Specially the way she did it, it was basically an adlib where her band noticed she was down so they started playing a random tune & ATW came out, it was basically a spontaneous poetic rant of pain & catharsis that was never supposed to be a song but someone recorded it & asked Taylor if she wanted the recording & well the rest is history

I wanted to let you know that Lana came out in an interview and said the reason why it seems she's not all over Snow on the Beach is because that was her (Lana) choice. She believes if a song is great, she will collab from a producer point of view. She also said she's very good at imitating artists and she's actually all over the song. I think Taylor actually gives her collabs full range to contribute however they want, yet Taylor seems to get the bad rap for not including someone enough or giving someone else more time than others. Lana's collab really showed us that we have no idea what goes on behind the scenes :)

I absolutely love state of grace acoustic. I definitely take it as the opposite side of the original track. Rather than being enthusiastic and hopeful for a new relationship, the narrator sounds exhausted and burnt out after a long attempt at a relationship. So beautiful!
Since this is your first “Taylor’s Version” album reaction, im not sure if you’re aware that when a song has “(From the Vault)” at the end of the title, it means that these are songs were made during the same period that the whole album was being created, but these “vault songs” are songs that never made it to the original album. They were scrapped out or left behind for one reason or another. So a cool thing that Taylor did during this whole “Taylor’s Version” project is she decided to include all these unreleased songs in all of her re-recorded albums. Idk if you already knew this or not but just thought I’d let you know in case you didn’t.❤

Before this I've only listened to the original version, listened to it again for the TV release, and decided to watch it for this because I love her reactions even though I knew I'd cry.
Ronan shreds my heart. I try to listen to it for the royalties for the foundation. There is a interview with the mom about how the song came about. If that was my baby and Taylor kept them alive forever with her beautiful song taken from my words. Ugh

The Ronan video is even more heartbreaking as it shows pictures of Ronan and he was a very beautiful boy, he had older brothers who were twins, the hand-me-downs would have come from them. Two years later they had a baby girl named Poppy Ronan Thompson. Taylor does not sing this song unless it is for the cancer org event or if Maya attends Taylor's concert as she did during Reputation, and of course to put it on her album. But all proceeds go to childhood cancer research.

Ronan was a real kid. Taylor found his mom’s blog online years ago, wrote the song and listed her as a songwriter on it so she would get royalties from it
please do a reaction to the all too well: the short film!! The main actors are Sadie Sink--who you may know as Max from Stranger Things--and Dylan O'Brien--who you may know as Stiles from Teen Wolf or Thomas from The Maze Runner, etc. they are EXCEPTIONAL in it!! Especially Sadie. Her performance was ASTOUNDING, especially for a 19 year old. One thing to know in advance: the age gap between Sadie and Dylan is intentional since it represents the 9 year age gap between Taylor and Jake Gyllenhall, whom this album is mostly about. Sadie was 19 at the time, and Dylan 30. So, they had an 11 year age gap. Taylor also released a behind-the-scenes video from making the film on RUclips about a year later!! She directed it herself. She even has a Directors-on-Directors episode with Variety in which she talks about how she made the film and found her actors. A couple of fun facts as well: there's a really famous scene in the short film of Sadie sobbing on her bed, and before filming Sadie listened to her crying song, which is Savior Complex by Phoebe Bridgers lol!! So many cool connections. Lastly, the house that they use in the short film is Taylor's really good friends Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's cabin house in upstate NY. The bookstore in the film is a real bookstore in NYC!!

girl at home is actually written about zac efron and vanessa hudgens! zac and Taylor were both in the Lorax movie and the song reflects on an interaction they had at the movie premiere, the OG version was seen by Taylor as more of a demo and had a very simplistic guitar sound. Taylor wanted more pop on the album but her team were hesitant to let her make that move out of fear of having too many songs moving away from the country style they wanted her to keep to!

(The Moment I Knew) which is referenced in the 10-minute All Too Well. Taylor also dated John Mayer, he was 32 and she was 19!! Definitely bad judgment on his part. If you haven't reviewed the song she wrote when she was 19-20, called Dear John, I would recommend you see her sing it live at her Speak Now concert, it's incredible how she paints the story about him and lets him have it! She followed that up with another great song about him when she was 32, called Would've, Could've, Should've (the same age he was with her looking back at it with her 32-year-old eyes). It's an intense incredible song. Love all your videos and I click on them immediately when you post one! You get the meaning and the deeper meaning that a lot of reactors don't get on the first listen. I'd like to know whether she has become one of your favorite artists, or are you still not sold on her being one of the best? Do you listen to her a lot? If she is not one of your favorites, who is? I loved your reactions in both part one and part two. Oh thank you because you gave me a lot of enjoyment reliving red as you were experiencing it for the first time, but you are really insightful and I love how you pick up on all the little clues and words even when it's your first time listening. Also I know by now you've read comments about Ronan. Yes, a real little boy and it's written from the perspective of his mother, which is the perspective of the blog which his mother wrote, and which Taylor read. So wonderful that the proceeds of the song entirely went to the mom And the Foundation in the little boys memory. Taylor, actually listed Ronan's mother as a co-writer on this song :) 💕
All Too Well started out as a 10 minute song but was cut for the Red album. She mentioned that in an interview and the fans never shut up about it until she finally had an opportunity to give us what we want on the TV vault tracks. Or at least thats the lore... 😉
all too well was actually 24 minutes long initially when she originally made it backstage on tour with her band; we got some of those lyrics in the lover diaries but we still don’t have most of it. i still wonder if the fan theories that the original ending and outro were scrapped and changed is true…
but needless to say (word to sabrina) she is truly an AMAZING writer to say the least!

I think what you were saying at 37:02 about the “crying in my room” line makes total sense! I think she may be getting at the fact that when she’s young, emotional songs about heartbreak or feeling strong emotions are cute, but once you’re an adult, the public might get fed up with those type of songs and tell her to grow up or be more mature instead of feeling these things that she was once praised for because it could be written off due to her youth

"Babe" the Vault Track were originally a song she has written in 2012, but later she worked with a band called Sugarland and was this band who released this song in a colaboration with Taylor in 2018, so you have another version of it if you wanted to listen.
And also she has two songs she wrote for The Hunger Games movie in 2012, she released the TV version of that songs too with the cover of Red TV (i think she made it that way because that songs were originally released at the Red era in 2012)
Forever winter is my favorite Taylor song out of everything she’s ever written and hardly anyone ever gets the meaning on first listen and even when they do, they always say they don’t like it as much as the other tracks so the euphoria I felt seeing you GET IT is so incredible. you should definitely dive into Phoebe's discography!! There's a reason someone like Taylor is such a huge fan of her. Her songs are definitely complex (iykyk) so I recommend reading the lyrics on Genius and looking at the annotations after listening for a good explanation.

We’ve known about All Too Well (10 Minute Version) for a while and Swifties has been asking for her to release the original full song for YEARS (she made it shorter for the initial Red album). "Babe" actually became quite a hit for Sugarland when Taylor sold out the concept to them before she ever released it as a vault track, seeing as she did write it. I thought you might have recognized it from radio playlisting.
My favourite thing is when people who have an unfair bias against Taylor listen to a song they dont realize was written by her and call it a banger when they wouldnt have said it if they had known. This also happened a lot with Cardigan, strangely, even though it was never released under someone else, they just didnt know it was her voice.

To answer who makes a 10 minute song, only Taylor can. Specially the way she did it, it was basically an adlib where her band noticed she was down so they started playing a random tune & ATW came out, it was basically a spontaneous poetic rant of pain & catharsis that was never supposed to be a song but someone recorded it & asked Taylor if she wanted the recording & well the rest is history

I wanted to let you know that Lana came out in an interview and said the reason why it seems she's not all over Snow on the Beach is because that was her (Lana) choice. She believes if a song is great, she will collab from a producer point of view. She also said she's very good at imitating artists and she's actually all over the song. I think Taylor actually gives her collabs full range to contribute however they want, yet Taylor seems to get the bad rap for not including someone enough or giving someone else more time than others. Lana's collab really showed us that we have no idea what goes on behind the scenes :)
