KH is actually the best 'get together' game that ever exists. While most others will just be a fighting games with a story of protags from different stories getting teleported to another dimension and are forced to fight to the death. KH has its own very unique story with original characters while still integrating Disney and Final Fantasy characters into the story. Excellent gameplay, music and art directions. Nothing else is quite like it.
He didn’t, Riku found a bottle and they went right to their mark of mastery. It annoys me that the family was forgotten when BBS, a prequel game made after KH2 mentions Sora’s dad meaning they were still in the thoughts of the devs
@@taputrainer8463I guarantee you the Lost Master's Arc will explore Sora's and everyone else's family/families. Genealogies, family, and one's heritage has become more and more of a common theme in the story as of late. Not to mention, involving a monarchy as in the case of Verum Rex ("True King"), inherently means the story must explore family trees. This story has not yet broken my trust with exploring known mysteries and unanswered questions, so I'm patient and optimistic that Nomura has an answer for what happened to Sora's mom at the very least.
@@taputrainer8463 There was a time skip that happened between their return and getting the bottle, 6 months I believe, and that would be plenty of time to reunite with their families, why do their parents have to actually show up?
I never thought about this but I wonder if their parents thought they died when the island was destroyed? I suppose Kairi must have cleared things up when she returned.
The part that scared me as a teenager lol back on the ps3 was when the heartless attack the island at night and Sora’s wooden wood doesn’t hurt them at all! This is one of my favorite games 😭
The thing that freaks me out more than anything else in this game is that damn boss heartless Parasite Cage I despise that creature with all my being and the end of the world was super creepy atmosphere and getting attacked by those Giant heartless called the Behemoth
the way you are over analyzing every little detail in kingdom hearts is how i do as well. like i love how silent the scenes are sometimes with just the actors talking
i love way you break things down and explain the subtlety of the game that started it all for me. Thank you for the trip down nostalgia lane. subbed :)
Oh hey, this video looks familiar ;) I'll say again, a game combining my two greatest obsessions as a child, Disney and Final Fantasy, absolutely blew me away as a kid. The cheesiness I might see in the series now was formative as a kid - the sense of loyalty and love this game displayed remains a part of me today.
Thanks for watching, I wanted to try again to see if anything would change :) Thing about cheesiness - it's not cheesy if it's real. And that I think is the difference to me between KH1-KH2, and KH3. KH1-2 felt real, felt like they had something to say about people, friends, fears, hopes and ambitions. 3 to me just feels like a childish mangled mess, which indeed does feel super cheesy way too often.
KH1 opening sequence bring back such visceral memories and feelings for me every time I go back. And I never really thought about the ‘why’ since I always associated it with nostalgia. You made a simple and clean point, it has heart. Simple and Clean is soothing and warms you. The intro pulls you in because even without dialogue it focuses on the emotional connections of the characters and themes of the game through poetic visual storytelling so you immediately start the game already feeling welcomed home. The tonal shift and ambiance in the dive to heart sequence is unlike any tutorial in other games because it feels personal. (spoilers?) King Mickey isn’t just talking to Sora in the beginning, it feels like he’s also coaching you the person. The lessons learned in the game also apply to real life. “The closer you get to the light the greater your shadow becomes” is an incredible statement for your game journey and journey in the real world. I played this as a teen in high school and this game felt like a stepping stone to also navigating a different world as an adult in the next few years. KH feels personal because it stays true to the heart of the series, which its ability and desire to connect and play at your heart strings.
loved this serie when i was a kid!!! still do! that, final fantasy, shadow hearts, super mario, rogue galaxy, zelda games, pokemon, dark cloud and dark chronicle.
I always thought they should have stuck with the Sora, Kairi and Riku love triangle storyline instead of doing what they did. That way they could have expanded on Kairi's character development more.
I never thought about this actually - Destiny Islands - a tropical paradise - can be considered a Garden of Eden. But in this case, even though Kairi could be seen as an easy "Eve", it's almost like Riku is Eve, tempting Sora to take the easy path and accept being swept away. Instead he chose not to - is still tossed out of Eden - and now he has to fight hordes of demons to even try to set things straight.
Well with the rhythm game out, turns out kairi is like an eve because her being sent here at a young age as a Princess of light was in theory going to be harassed by darkness eventually and a keyblade bruv would rise. So her being here is why the island gets destroyed? @@AndyMeetsFantasy
Ironically, "Kingdom Hearts" kinda drained my faith in humanity for a time, but then "Legacy of Kain", "Evangelion", "Serial Experiments Lain", "Madoka Magica" and "Drakengard" got it back. Because the truth is, tragedy can bring hope. Hope of change. Radical change and justified payback. "Kingdom Hearts" ever since 2...justifies gaslight and gives that illusion the world's time is meaningless through the power of friendship.
Could you explain what you mean a bit more? I think I get it but not 100% Also please listen to what I have to say, don’t lose hope! It’s hard to live in this world but there is a hope and that hope is Jesus Christ. Jesus died on the cross and resurrected so we can be forgiven of our sins and be saved, He will give us peace and hope. All you have to do is believe in Him and you will be saved. Please consider the state of your soul. Turn away from sin and follow Him so you may have salvation. I think I can relate to how often I see bad or negative messages in media and story telling but we need to remember these world views are being portrayed by other humans who have their own flawed way of looking at the world. Especially recently a lot of movies and are filled with terrible immoral messaging because people lack a relationship with God. And if you don’t know God and are not trying to build a relationship with Him through serving Him life IS meaningless. So we must rely on Jesus, the one and only God, He gives us an everlasting Hope. Please give your life to Christ today, Jesus loves you.

You might as well go ahead and make a video for every hour of this game. Sure sometimes it gets cheesy and the whole concept of the franchise is to sell concentrated fan service to 90s kids... but every Disney world and FF character was carefully woven in the game's overarching plot. KH1 has managed to infuse every step of its story with a sense of oneirism, wonder and strangeness that perfectly echoes what childhood feels like. KH2's famous prologue was a great follow up to this, voluntarily placing the player in a confusing position that reflects that of young teenagers: it might be interesting to have a video tackling the first few hours of KH2, as they remain unfairly low in the overall player base's estime.
