Calendar blocking: assigning a task or event for each slot on calendar Time batching: putting similar tasks together Powerful way is to combine the two :)

yess calendar blocking has changed the game for me! i used to put things on my to do list but if i didn’t schedule out a time to do it, i would just keep moving that task to the next day
This is very helpful. I tried calendar blocking, but it didn't work for me. I found it too restrictive for my life. Time batching, on the other hand, has helped me SO much. I used to randomly pick tasks and jump from one to another completely different, and i didn't realized how damaging that was for my focus. Your videos actually helped me a lot understanding what works for me, so THANK YOU for sharing your insights with us. Every time I watch one of your videos, I get something I can actually actively apply to my life, which is invaluable for me. So thank you again! Love from Spain. 🧡🧡
This is a really useful comparison! One caveat: Interleaving (frequently switching tasks) is an effective and tested way to boost learning, since you're forced to recall important facts/procedures every time you switch tasks. If you're a student, batching can make a lot of sense if your goal is to quickly complete coursework. But if your goal is to learn effectively, you'll likely see better results if you start switching tasks/subjects _more_ often rather than less.
this is great! I didn’t realize it, but I already do time batching; all emails at once, all readings at once, all scheduling at once. now I know what it’s called and can actually work to streamline the process! ty for the video!
I´ve been really getting into time blocking because I was feeling so overwhelmed with everything I have to do, and having to work from home while taking care of my 20 months son. I could'n sleep anymore because I was so behind on stuff! Two weeks ago I stopped working at all and decide to find a system that could help me, and I ended up on time blocking. It gives me so much predictability and structure, and in a short-time I became so much more productive and I'm not feeling as overwhelmed. I came across your content and it's been really helping me. But today I noticed something...are you portuguese? :)

Mariana, I'm a new subscriber, and I just want to thank you for all the amazing tips on your channel. Just that. Thanking you in a very sincere way. I wish you all the best!!! Greetings from Zen Walks, Lisbon 🐌😊
Does anyone have tips for starting either of these they really inspire me but whenever I try and plan out my next day I never seem to follow it, maybe it's too much pressure, maybe I just don't know how long tasks actually take but it just feels like I can never get it right
If you want to stick with blocking you will get better at estimating the right time as you keep doing it or maybe you can just try something else when I am less motivated I just stick to pomodoros like I just plan to work for 25 minutes and sometimes after I finish I keep going for longer time
When I was first learning to monthly budget, I took 2 months to just record what I was spending and where. Then I analyzed what could be cut (eating out) or expanded (savings). After that, I created my first real budget and fine tune it each month. I applied that same practice to my planning. I bought an Action Day Planner (weekly) that was months old on Amazon for $6 that was just for tracking how I really used my time because it was always different from what I'd planned. Meanwhile, I was still trying to use my old planner. Then I started my first time budget which naturally lent itself to time blocking. I repurposed the extra writing space in the Action Day Planner et voila! I had my first ever time budgeting tool! All my old planners were absolutely worthless to me until I understood how to budget my time like I budget money. Now I just use my cheap little Action Planner and look forward to buying my next in a jazzier color and up to date (which will be more $, of course) and decorating it. This could work for you, too😉
Hola Mariana, te sigo desde hace años y amo tus vídeos, me has ayudado mucho. Acabo de suscribirme a Skillshare aprovechando la oferta que ofreces, mil gracias por tu contenido tan útil. Beijinhos!
Unfortunately neither of these systems would work for me because they're such high maintenance and my job is so erratic and customer/crisis driven. Scheduled reports and inventories are easy to plan but most everything else is pure chaotic last minute forest fires. The agency I work for keeps most people in the dark until the last minute so long term planning is impossible. Any kind of planning is basically recording events after the fact for overtime and evaluation use later on.
Don't know why we people have made our life so complicated in this rat race that we need calendar for everything..... Enjoy your life also....and keep.things simple.... Else u will regret on ur dead bed...
Dear MARIANA, l know that you give a lot of tips (which are useless, lazy) to the people . Ok. Now my question is to you that , WHAT HAVE YOU DONE YOUR LIFE ?

I use my calendar for EVERYTHING. If it's not on my calendar, I don't do it. Awesome video.
