      Hi Gil: My personal experience is limited to my studio primarily. The highest quality one I own is an AKG Perception 420. It's been a great mic and I'm glad I have it. I don't really do a lot of high def recording other than my videos and sometimes my students will use it during a lesson . I'm not informed about the mono vs stereo debate. Sorry I'm not able give you more help. I'm sure there are some mic experts on line that have some great insights and advice. Good luck.

    I love the fact that he kept the parts where his voice went off pitch,m and just smiled through it. Shows that he is a legit teacher that is human and can make mistakes. This is a lot better than a teacher that seems always perfect, which sets really unrealistic standards. So for keeping in all the “real” parts, thank you sir!

    Awesome vid thanks. I was afraid of what i might sound like and i had no idea that before i began i remembered that i was making the car starting sound and didn't know it was a slowed down version of it. All i had to do was make it faster and using my stomach muscles. It was easy. Now all i have to do is find the good sound in my singing. Rather than sound like most growling music called black/death metal. I really want to sound on a pieceful note. Thank you again for the video!!!! I will save this to my fav 2 list i have. It feels so strange. I'm trying to get a vibrato for almost half a year now. I don't know why I can't get this. Maybe, that's kinda my feeling, I'm afraid of it? Because I never did something like this with my voice and I sang with too much pressure, I now am not able to get a vibrato easily..?
    I really think that I'm kinda scared of it, no matter how weird it sounds😅

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  7 лет назад +15

      You are right. We are scared of it sometimes. At first you have to make it happen. In time, the vocal cords start feeling it and will take over. You can do it!

    Hi Chuck, i would just like to thank you, ive just recently thought back on how i've developed vibrato about 2 years ago, and i remembered it was you and this video that exactly did, for someone that's impatient in wanting to learn how to vibrato, the first exercise did the trick, with just about 10 tries on the exact same day, you have one of the best videos of teaching vocal techniques whereas the rest would come up with thousands of stories about their journey and only 2 minutes of actual teaching of what they are trying to imply, god bless you and stay healthy sir.

    i've always wanted to be a singer. tbh, i went through a lot of tough stuff throughout my teenagehood, like depression and anxiety, which is why i never participated in any music extracurriculars, and hence suppressed my vocal ability.

    Hi Mr. Gillmore, Thank you for making these videos and giving singers like me the guidance needed in contemporary singing. I am from India and proper guidance & resources on western contemporary singing is very hard to get. I can sustain and do vibrato comfortably, but I find it problematic to induce it in a phrase. Especially in parts where a vowel sound is first sustained for a bit then moving into vibrato. Also, does the pace of the vibrato depends on the tempo with which I'm singing?, sometimes certain frequencies don't seem to sit properly in the phrase and seems out of sync with the music. Thank you again

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  8 лет назад +7

      Try this: Sustain a pitch without vibrato and then start and stop the vibrato repeatedly. Practice the start-stop-start until you can do it confidently. Do it a the "e" (eat) and/or "Oh" vowel. Pace of the vibrato should be the same no matter the tempo approx. 6-8 cycles per second. Too fast is tremolo. Too slow is a wobble. If it seems out of sync with the music try varying the length of time you hold it, or the volume, or when you start it, rather than the cycle.

    I only can use the first technique. Because when I try to do others it doesn't sound like vibrato you know. But once I stop shaking my hand vibrato stops too. Oh I don't know :(

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Maide: It takes some practice. I would also keep trying with the other examples. The hard part is speeding up gradually. But this is what it takes. Keep practicing. One of these is bound to help. Also, don't do it too loud. Start softer.

    The main line of those practise is Hitting 2 different notes repeatedly (1/2 or 1 notation difference) then feel it in your throat muscle until it automatically produced in there.

      I think that's an accurate description of what to do.

    Vibrato - (Ex:Emagine:You have a "Motor pump" in your nake to vibrate your voice while you singing).Then apply "TWANG"word in your singing,to wide open your mouth.

    Do you have any opinion on whether the vibrato goes up or down? Like if the main note is C, should I "vibrate" between C and C# or C and B? Is either generally preferred? Are they used in different contexts?

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  5 лет назад

      Yes...oscillate between the root note and a whole step above it. Vibrato should spin above and note below the pitch. Great question!

    Thank you, those are great advices. I already have a natural vibrato in my voice but I'm going to use your advices to get vibrato while belting high notes because that's quite difficult for me right now.

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  7 лет назад

      Great! Just make sure you are not pulling chest on the higher notes. You will find that the vibrato will be too labored and will become a wobble over time.
