    It's called the key of "A". Like every song ever recorded. I used to warm up my voice by strumming the "A" string on the guitar and matching my voice to it. Only sing within your natural range. No bridging. Only chest (diaphragm), voice. That's rock 'n roll.

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  3 года назад +4

      Important to remember, though, too much chest and no mix or head voice, gets you into trouble. Like so many of the pros who've developed nodules, or hemorrhaged.

    I loved this exercise. Music has always been a big part of my life but I've always thought of myself as a terrible singer, I can keep a tune but I can feel I'm straining, have no power and have avoided singing so that I don't hurt myself. I started watching your videos because I want to learn how to do it right, just for myself so I can make music while my hands are busy, without hurting my voice. I played clarinet for years when I was younger so I feel like I can control my breathing well but during this exercise was the first time I noticed I do something when I sing, and I have no idea if it is right or not. When blowing a wind instrument I've learned to shut the back of my nose so that all the air goes out my mouth into the instrument. I don't do this when I'm talking but during this exercise I caught myself doing it while singing. I'm assuming maybe this is not an ideal thing for a good natural singing voice! Should I try to avoid this habit? The other thing I discovered is that I've been talking "too low", I'm female and I've never been able to project my voice well while speaking. I found from my normal speaking voice I could only go down one or two notes before my tone went bad. If I try talking at the note 4 or 5 up from the bottom, it feels like I'm putting on a fake high voice! I know everyone is different, and I have enjoyed finding out these things about myself on my journey to a better singing voice.

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  4 года назад +2

      Yes...avoid adding anything to your voice when you start to sing. Too often it is adding unwanted tension to your voice. On the speaking voice, try speaking at 3-4 steps above your lowest singing note. See if that's easier. Thanks fossphur!

    I did this another way. I was learning piano & was advised to sing out the melody I was learning...after a while by repetition i found matching my voice to the the tune became easier & my voice became centred i always hit the notes full square< as it followed the piano tone. by repetition , I had internalised the the tune & found its reproduction easy. I found that this centered technique was not restricted to the melody I was learning but would work for many melodies including the high notes, which I was no longer straining on. Im not saying I now have three octave vocal range but I sound much better & that increases confidence with new songs. Im not sure this will work for everyone, but after many years of struggle this technique came easily & naturally& cost nothing as i was learning to play that melody anyway!

    Hello, I follow your video down the the vocal type test, found my vocal type and it lead me to the "fast track exercises" program. Saw the payment plan and everything, just one question.
    I live in north Cyprus, there was a section that required me to fill in my country, street, address, zip code e.t.c
    I'm a little confused, I thought the program was online?
    Why is my location, address e.t.c being needed?
    Or am I mistaken? Is it not online?
    Please reply 🙏🏾

      @PowerToSing  2 года назад +1

      Yes the course is online. I don't know why the form is asking for addresses. Try it without. If it requires your address, fill it in. Either way...it's online. :) Thanks Oluchi!

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  3 года назад

      I don't know what rooibos is, but nothing bad will happen to your vocal cords when you drink lemon juice in tea.

    This is so perfect for someone like me who has such social anxiety I could never sing in front of a coach 😭 my brother has a gorgeous voice and my mom says I could sing if I learned because I can change my voice when speaking easily idk if that makes sense😭 but I sound like 💩

    I just found you… When I sing as you say what’s comfortable close to my talking voice, my voice sounds undeveloped in this area, not so much in my head voice. Like the person you commented on in this video, I just want to find my real, authentic voice… My own genuine sound. I have my own music and style, but for so long I’ve been singing soft, I really want to be free when singing… I would like to find songs that match my voice... as far as singing, I haven’t sang in 17 years. I want strength in my vocals.

    Is it useful for Eastern music,for like indian classical music?

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  3 года назад

      Yes, but in many instances, singers of all genres must correct the way they are vocalizing. If they don't, they end up damaging their voices.

    I have two natural speaking voices at two different ranges. Plus I have anxiety so whenever I talk it's 90% of the time stressed. What do I do to find my natural singing voice? This method is great but I'm still struggling to find my voice as I don't know if this is my singing voice or not.

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  2 года назад

      Hi Zach: How old are you? When you are relaxed and not anxious, during that 10%, this is more likely the ideal time and vocal condition to find your natural singing voice.

    My voice does feel more open, how ever I have a have a high voice that’s kind of nasally raspy. Sometimes, it feels like a blanket gets tossed over something in the middle of my neck when I’m trying to sing clearly and to me it sounds better, but I don’t think its supposed to be that way.
