I got this laptop like 3 days ago and i have noticed unusual heating on the chassey specially the bottom vents. The surprising thing is the fan is pumping out cool air. Like how?!!
It could be because of some other component. Check where are you experiencing the heat, notice which component is at that place and then we can try to deduce something.
Does Lenovo idealpad S340 core i3 10th gen laptop can support this “Western Digital Black 500GB SN850 NVMe Internal Gaming SSD Solid State Drive with Heatsink - Gen4 PCIe, M.2 2280, 3D NAND, Up to 7,000 MB/s - Western DigitalS500G1XHE” or not , I need your view then I can buy. Thanks
I have installed Samsung 970 Evo Plus 250 GB SSD. I purchased it from Amazon at 7300. You can install any other SSD as well as this is quite costly but it's very fast. My computer boots in 5.57 sec now.
I assume you meant software shutdown option, and no it doesn't make any click sound then. I have observed it in absolutely silent environment as well but no, it doesn't make that noise
What are your opinions about this laptop's variant that comes with AMD Ryzen 5 , with 8gb ram 1tb hdd and 128gb ssd and vega graphics . As I'm planning to buy it very soon. My main uses will be normal browsing , video streaming and some Photoshop stuffs. Please reply soon
Hi Dinesh, apology for late reply but frankly friend I have no idea about the specific question you asked so I think you will have to some more searching. Although AMD Ryzen has shown some decent numbers on geekbench like performance scale and some say it's equivalent to early i7 or so. Only your Photoshop thing will require a graphic engine but otherwise the spec sheet you mentioned is good enough.
Are you talking about the Balck metal connected to fan or the metal coloured box that I didn't take off? Underneath that meatal box is RAM, I have opened it up. It has only one removable RAM. I have also put up the SSD and after initial hickup, it's working great, system boots in 5 sec
Sir I have these laptop I used it for 6 months. It is heating too much and there is some issue with fan I think. Can I exchange these or I have the repair. The laptop is in warranty ... Please give me suggestions what to do . go for repair or ask for replacement ... Please help............
I also had the same problem, then I called the technician, he updated my bios and added two extensions (.exe files)in my laptop. now there is no heating issue.
Also i was thinking of upgrading the ram .as our laptop has 4+4gb ram. Can u tell should i install 8gb or 16gb.coz on lenovo forums its written that company says 8gb but 16 gb works fine too.
Hi Nitish, you might try with 16 but I would generally stick with spec sheet from manufacturer and that mentions total max of 12Gb Ram in extensible slot.
It will. But I found no tags that can detect that user has opened the back panel. So idealy companies put a paper thin film or paint on screws so once you open them, it scratches the screwhead. Also in another attempt to dismantle it's heat sink I fried one of the capacitor. After that I did visit service center and got my motherboard replaced. So that's the long answer to your short question 😀
Can you take out the hard disk and connect externally to make sure it's working fine? If yes then check if hard disk gets detected in bios If yes then check with a bootable disk if you are able to detect Hd If yes then you might have to repair OS and for most other cases it could be hardware malfunction. Please explain what fix you tried or what is working and what is not to diagnose it better.
Technically yes, any tempering with hardware does violate your contract with manufacturer however to impose that is manufacturer's discretion. Screen in short is good enough for daily use, office work and good enough in outdoor light as well. However I would have got IPS Panel has there been an option.
It's hard to tell, it's an unbranded screwdriver set that I purchased from a local fair when I was 15-16. However the bit that I used to open screws has number CR V PH0 written on it.
Lennovo service centre accepts the bill with clearly mentioned date of purchase along with seller stamp. Alternatively you can register your product on lennovo website. Also if you got Windows OS, you can register that as well on Microsoft site and if ever you have to recover your OS, you won't need any further verification than logging in your microsoft account.

Hi Friend, if you have used it only for 6 months, go for repair. I have been to the service center of lennovo once and my experience has been good. Does it heat up on doing or running some specific software or without that? Since this is a thin laptop, heat exchange will suffer if you keep it on the bed and even on lap and work. If you are doing that then please make sure of proper ventilation for heat exchange. Lastly, if the issue persists, then there might be something with the mainboard. It would help service guys a lot if you tell them the exact conditions that make your laptop heat up.
