I really appreciate that you share so much about your lifestyle and your village. It really is eye-opening to many of us. USA propaganda likes to paint a very ugly picture of Africa and it's nice to take a moment and erase the negativity and replace it with a truer vision. Such beautiful land, communities, people, and practices. We all need a little more wholesome beauty in our lives.

Lantana is one of my favorite annuals to plant for the summer, but we have to buy them at a nursery and replant every year. They don’t survive the winter here.

I read an old French book about pressing flowers and leaves into animal fat (strained to take away the meat smell), and putting it into the sun to extract the fragrance. There is probably more to it, but I bet a nice plant oil would work well. It might not last to sell, but it would be nice to use.

Nothing beats nature. I have hope of one day walking in the part of the world from which my ancestors were cruelly removed-- west Africa. In the meantime, I'll plant more lantana as a connection to my ancestral continent.
