Loofahs! I love these things and I wish they were less expensive here. So fascinating to see how they're made!
They are expensive????where???
Your videos help me appreciate the simple things in this life. It is amazing to think that nature provides all we ever will need. Thank you for the amazing content Joy!
So nice of you
I prefer longer-duration videos of yours. Love your content.
Thank you
I love the color of that dress, Joy!
Thank you ❤
I absolutely love your content Aketch! It's so educational to see how you live in harmony with our world
I appreciate that!
What I love most of you is that you actually always go back to your village between jobs around the world. A very very long time ago I was born in the center of a city but I hate living in one. I live outside a small village with nature around.
In Nepal we just peel off and remove the seeds by Shaking it and wash it with soap and it's ready to use
In the United States we call this a luffa or loofa but the center part you removed would be called the core or ribs. I've only seen the sponge cut into circles, so thank you for showing us how to open it up and make it bigger. We eat the very young luffa and reserve some to use as sponges. Thanks again!
This plant is so popular in Syria too, we use it and call it Leefeh, it's what most of us use to clean our bodies but lately as I'm trying to be more environmentally conscious and healthy, I bought a new one and now in our house we use it to clean the plates and dishes, it's actually cheaper and cleaner as it doesn't hold the bacteria like the plastic one, also the plant is so beautiful, on the way to our neighborhood there was a house that planted it and it made a gate-like shape with its green leaves and yellow flowers 💚💛 but we don't cut it like this that's the only difference, thank you so much for this video 🙏🏻🌸
Greetings. All is well. Thanks for explaining about the sponges. I appreciate your content and your cheery disposition. Thanks for sharing the smiles. Blessings.
So nice of you
This loofah sponge grows all over Africa and some tropical areas. It was used a lot, even by the colonisers, who brought it to Europe and USA, until plastic versions came, and it can still be found in some shops in Europe and the Americas even today.
When fresh, it looks like cucumber
Id love to hear more about your village.... how you grew up, about social structures, values, differences to the West, etc:)
Thanks for the idea!
That was very interesting. I would definitely use sponges like that. Our good God designed nature to provide ao beautifully. Thanks for the lovely video.😊
You make me miss my country and the villages and as you said to a time that was timeless to me. How I wish not to have taken it for granted 😢
Hey, just love your content. This is the only sponge I have ever known. Our ancestors have always loved and taken care of the environment.🇿🇼
We call it loofah here. A friend of mine had grown some several years ago and she would cut it in round slices. I love your content ❤❤❤ thank you for always sharing!

Stay grounded 😉👌🏽🤩✨
My grandmother used to grow these and I couldn’t remember how she made them into a loofah to use. This video is great.
Beautiful , Aketch Joy Winnie ! 🥰 I love content, in any form by you ! I am here for Ms. Winnie , the topic of content is secondary. ☺️
I just love this unknown place of my ancestors. It just makes my heart stand still when u c that everything that is now has always been in mama land, the beginnings of life is right here where she is❤️❤️❤️🌺
I look forward to your videos. They are a breath of fresh air.the part that you cut off the sponge, I would call it the spine.
❤️🇨🇦
We have the same in Algeria and it is sold in markets to this day and some families has the tree itself so yeah…it reminds me of my childhood 💕
Beautiful earrings. We used to use those sponges a lot here in Botswana but nowadays I hardly see them, even in the market where they were widely sold. I wonder where they disappeared to😢. The best natural sponge ever.
That sponge looks like it would feel great!!! I wish thati knew these yhings that are provided by nature
The beautiful Aketch Joy Winnie 😍…thank you sis🙌🏾

That could be tne core or the pith.. Love your videos, Aketch!
Lufa
Girl, you are fioine!!!
Thank you for the video and the insight! I would love if the videos were longeeer :))
The middle of an apple is called a core in English, at least in the US and Ireland, and it seems to be the same for the loofah/luffa. There is at least one pet company that calls them "cores" and uses them as pet toys! Apparently sponges from the luffa/loofah plant are also used for cleaning harder surfaces sometimes, like cleaning cars and pot scubs, so maybe those sponges include or are made up entirely of the core?
I'm sorry if I didn't catch it, but what do you call the sponge? And the plant! We use loofah for the sponge (and luffa for the plant I think).
Do you grow pumpkins in your village? I tried growing them here in Ireland one year, but I didn't have the heart to stop the bugs from eating them, so I don't know if how well they would have done. In Uganda, I think they would grow well.
And I'm buying these from the store
The "core" of the fruit is what we call it.
Can you show us how to cook different fufu❤❤❤. Thank you
This may seem like an ignorant question but I would love to know what kind of soap you use to clean with this sponge. I love learning and watching your videos :)
Anti bacterial is good
I often wonder if the ingredients in the soaps are different. Moreover, I learn about food and such. I am like, is our government trying to kill us? 👀
We don't have a specific name for that, but would just describe it. A dense ridge? The hard center line?
Loofah
I call it trimming the ribs.
Camera person 😂😂😂
Why you don't show the whole process sumerging it in to water.
Hello, you is or you will be a good wife👌😊
I'm sorry people show you their rudeness speaking about Village life that way. It's a credit to you the way your sunny warm personality shines through, and this is only the second video of yours that I have seen, but I hope you will never let 'them' change you. The sunshine of your heart is a blessing and a joy to behold.
Liked, subscribed and praying for God's blessing over you from Australia 🙏🏼
