Too fine a cut for many, sir. The difference between this exhortation, a strong hope cast rhetorically or poetically as a command, and so almost deserving its own tense; and the 'WILL', an arrogant, unwavering, flat prediction or command. I live with people who are incapable of such a distinction. Of course, I agree with your meaning.
@@mikewalsh6168 Do you mean we bought slaves that others had enslaved; like everyone else was doing? Remind me again how did the slave trade end? What did it cost us? Try not to look so ignorant next time.
@@mikewalsh6168 you ignorant twat. Britain brought an end to the slave trade world wide. In fact William the Conqueror made it illegal to be a serf ( slave) in the Domesday book in 1089 but Britain didn't have the might until the 1800s to abolish slavery until our Royal Navy was the most powerful Navy on the earth. As for slavery you should check the history books the Arabs actually invented slavery and enslaved Europeans and Africans into their version of slavery 1400 years ago. Africans had tribal wars on Africa from which they took prisoners as slaves and sold them to Barbary Pirates who shipped them to the middle East. The Barbary pirates also stole Europeans including Britons from the shores of Europe and Britain. On fact rule Britannia is a song of freedom from Britons being enslaved by the Barbary pirates because we did have the largest most powerful Navy on the planet. You would do well to learn proper world history from books instead of the woke history from Google

This kind of cultural celebration is highly endangered in this day and age. There is a large group of individuals in the UK, who would gladly see an end to this kind of patriotism. The same people who'd love to see statues of Churchill torn down. We need to uphold our patriotism and love of tradition in the face of an insidious tide, nay Tsunami, of hateful political correctness.

Rule Britannia, Britannia rule the waves, Britons never, .never never SHALL be slaves. SHALL not WILL.
Ok to enslave others though? As they did
@@mikewalsh6168 Do you mean we bought slaves that others had enslaved; like everyone else was doing? Remind me again how did the slave trade end? What did it cost us? Try not to look so ignorant next time.
@Arun X 'Played a part'? 'No impact'? I haven't got the desire to educate you. Ignorance is bliss, enjoy your happy life.
❤️Spectacular ❤️
You "highly recommend watching the BBC version" of the last night of the proms but I found your version very satisfying and personal. Enjoyed it very much. Well done.
Ron Richo, thank you, very nice of you to say that. BBC has very nice close up. And clear audio.
Don't get me wrong I like the BBC's coverage of the Proms but yours was more personal. I like that.
I'm working class English. We are repeatedly told our culture is wrong. We are xenophobic. To love England is bad. We need to apologise for what happened 300 years ago. We are evil, we are bad, we are this, we are that.
Thankfully, me, my family, my friends ignore this. We are English we are proud
They want you to submit, and after you submit, you have to pay them and then empower them. They’re using the collective liberal guilt which only liberals suffer from.
Christopher Richard T , We watched the Proms every year during the early 1970s . I'm still alive my dearest friend , lover and lost forever ""missed opportunity " for fun , children and happiness because of duty to the family expectations .
Love you from the bottom of my heart UK 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
God Bless England, Once per year (The Last Night of Proms) I feel to be part of this community. For me the power of this event is the tiers making reason (I'm sorry for my English).
Well said, my friend...well said.
Yes Krzysztof well said my good man, your positive thoughts for my country are very much appreciated, from a very proud to be an Englishman.
Thanks K, and well done for noticing this is all about England even though they wave the Union flag, it's about English exceptionalism with a nasty right wing nationalist under current.
you have issues my friend
You have a good like
,..., aahhh to View Royal Albert Hall,..., over,..., steamed BANGORs & MASH
It doesn't get better than this
I admire you for your patriotism, and rich history!!! T. MOONEY (USA)
Thank you but don't forget a lot of your National history is intrinsically linked to the UK also. Most of your nations ancestors and founding fathers come from England !
There is no other country in the world that can put this sort of event together, its uniquely British, ,
This overwhelming powerful performance will reach the God
From Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun
Which national are you watching this video ?
It's on my bucket list.
Gerald Jones, yes, it was on my list too. And I was able to see it and cross it off my list. Tickets are impossible to get, but when you are ready to go, let me know and I'll give you some tips on getting in.
Mine too
Great to see so many different national flags in unison... Sweden, Poland, Germany, Japan.... any more? Bless ‘em all...
American.
Kosovo.
Wales
Norway, Uganda
Yet one more reason that validates my huge feaking love of being born "ENGLISH/BRITISH" I LOVE MY COUINTRY AND MY HOME CITY OF LONDON UK !
Well said Ian.
Cheers matey
Ian I agree but for how long will it belong to us, I find it very disconcerting in the least.
A dream of mine as well...sadly my health would prevent it even if I were so lucky as to be able to attend.
iv'e done the proms on and off for 35 years only the last night once, the eclectic love of all music is what its about yes there's flag waving on the last night but iv'e seen plenty of Stars and Stripes ,the Tricolour and many other nations waving their flags its the world united in music out of love not imperialism
I could only dream to go on this night
Give me goosebumps
yeah.. if you live in the UK, I would try and make it to this night at least one time in your life.
ja England, schoen das ich in der Jugendzeit alle Jahre auf der Insel per Anhalter unterwegs war und wunderbare erlebnisse mit nach Deutschland brachte,
God bless the Queen, - Deus abencoe a rainha - Sigurd Strieder Taubate (SP) Brasilien
The background music at the beginning was composed by Gustav Holtz.. its part of the planet suite called Venus... i cant recall who subsequently wrote the words so that it became the hymn 'i vow to thee my country'.
Jupiter, not Venus!
Wonderful. Fun. Sure was not expecting "Nessun Dorma!
p.s. And it gets better.
The Land Of Hope And Glory.
Best song ever created..!!!! Should be our national anthem.
Wow my heart skips a beat 🌹
Italianizando o UK !!!! Thanks ❤️very very much from Brasil !!!!!!! ❤️
I vow to thee my country
The BBC are nothing now they are small potatoes compared to the other big TV companys. We are British and proud.
What are you smokin? Don't roll in the daily mail whatever you do!
There is nothing wrong for patriotism. Patriotism= I love my country!
its nationalism that is dangerous. Nationalism= I ONLY LOVE MY COUNTRY AND ALL OTHER COUNTRIES ARE INFERIOR
CLeobulo" Theses are the kind of 'people" the Brits and French _NEED_ to re-institute the -GUILLOTINE to bring them to a _PROPER UNDERSTANDING!!!!!!!
TOO BLOODY TRUE. I DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHAT COLOUR, CREED, GENDER YOU ARE, WE ARE BRITISH SO BE PROUD. BUGGER THE LEFTIES, BUGGER THE MARXISTS, THE P.C. BUGGER ALL THOSE WHO HATES US, AND WOULD TRY TO DESTROY OUR PROUD NATION AND WHAT WE ALL HAVE ACHIEVED. THEY CAN ALL BUGGER OFF!!!! LONG LIVE THE LAST NIGHT OF THE PROMS. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN
@@F4Wildcat One official definition of nationalism - and the original definition, but it's been changed in the last few years due to political agendas: "advocacy of or support for the political independence of a particular nation or people." Nothing wrong with healthy nationalism: I'm proud to be British/French/Ugandan/Swedish/Irish/Chinese, or whatever.
I performed there last year , the magic flute. (Not one of the main actors , one of the schools in the back up in the top row)
OMG they played the 2nd verse of the National Anthem! 👏👏
This was the worst recording of a last night I've seen. Muddled and fuzzy, what are the wretched BBC up to now.
all three verses very appropriate in the current political crisis, frankly...
They generally do.
@@portly2496 This is clearly nothing to do with the BBC but filmed by someone actually attending the concert. Hence the bad sound, this is what it would have sounded like up in the Gallery. You can hear the people up there at a nearer proximity than the orchestra.
I would so love tickets to the Proms!!
Sonia Hamilton showed stand in line on the day of, the standing room only tickets. Two lines, one for the main floor, in the oval, the othe standing room only line is for the top level balcony. Price is 5 Lbs.
Michael Jiroch I am surprised the ti lets so cheap. I would take standing only!
Proms is on my bucket list. Maybe one day...
JUST DO IT.
Go to it you won't regret it the atmosphere is electric
Remember in these dark days of 2020 we remain the greatest nation on earth. All will be well and all will be well and all manner of things will be well.
why are there thumbs down to this , its probably not PC
bbfeign1 many factors go into a thumbs down. First you gave the tech geeks, who find it not up to snuff in filming or editing, then there are the jealous thumbs downs, these are people who are envious of someone else being there, or documenting the moment and wish there were there...jealousy can be for unlimited reasons. Then there are the Remainers. Who have a disdain for anything patriotic, they will are be giving a thumbs down. There are many reasons for a thumbs down. But those are the big 3.
Thank you for this reminder of what a truly great night this was and to see the flags of all nations sharing in the splendour of music before the clowns with their EU flags hijacked it ! And given the current atmosphere will we see another "Last night " or will it fall to the new "Woke"
last years proms was a joke, just full of pretentiousness and the royal albert hall was totally empty apart from the orchestra (due to covid). I honestly cant see it coming back to greatness like in this video, you were lucky to see it.
You made me feel in Britain !
THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!
These performances , which are
immersed in the depths of my heart , are an eternal effulgent and sparkling gift for me .

Shin-i-chi Kozima ...I am American.

Thank-you very much to your reply !
How is your country and your condition ?
Tokyo is in late autumn .
It is getting colder and colder .
Already the main street trees and houses here and there are shining brightly with pale , golden colored illuminations and decorations to celebrate Christmas and the New Year .
I hope you make wonderful programrs.
Take care of each other
Good luck !

THANKS!!!!!!!
You are welcome.
The opening song for this video is specifically the Civilization 5 video game rendition of I Vow to Thee My Country. The best arrangement I've heard
Its IS very nice.
It's _Jupiter_ by Gustav Holst, with English verse put to it.
How does an American actually get a ticket to any Proms concerts let alone the last night? I watch all the Proms concerts on RUclips. I wish we had something comparable in America!
Tenor Songster ....the best way to gets tickets for LNOTP, is to pack a sack lunch and arrive at Royal Albert Hall at 10 am the day of, and get in one of two “standing room only”lines. Ground floor or top tier. It’s a fun day with like minded people. Doors open at 5, and a rush to get your spot is on.
Sadly due to Coronavirus, there will not be any Proms concerts this year.I can not imagine that.
the best version by far, of land of hope & glory & other,s from last night of the proms is the 2009 version.
Rule Britannia!
I used proms on the cover of my poetry book... Thinking it means songs ... But if you see the dictionaries it means to dance ...
My poetry cover says "Politics Play ~ People Pay ~Poets Proms ~ Pledging Pray" ... Is this accepted???
Well said 👏 friend.
Why all the cuts?
Let's dispel unspeakable uneasiness of Coronavirus infection while listening to this music .
Tokyo is hustle and bustle with Coronavirus infection problem .
From Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun
Which are you watching this from ?
Nice Juan Diego Florez. From one lost empire to another.
Brilliant.
Anyone know why when it sounded like Pavarotti was singing "Nessun Dorma" from Turandot that some other guy was standing there? I read in the description it was Pavarotti, but whoever that is sounds just like him, including how he sings with a cover on his voice - that signature bright sound. Thing is, the world lost Pavarotti in 2007 and this video was uploaded in 2015 but doesn't give a date of the concert,....unless I missed it. Anyone know?
Z Lauriault ...well, I know why...because the original recording sounded hollow and tinny and like he was singing from a mile away. So I overdub with Pavarotti. Good ear, buddy.
@@MichaelJirochVisualArtist Well that's some overdub. Pavarotti has a very individual sound. Was that the 2015?
Z Lauriault yes indeed it was 2015, the last one before the Brexit vote...and the disharmony that followed.
That was Jonas Kaufmann on stage, but the singing of “Nessun Dorma” on this video was Pavarotti, not Jonas Kaufmann. Puzzling!
Wonderful, Just wonderful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Name of song that starts at 10:40?? Please I have been searching for that and I cant find!!
nocopiesminombre ....Land Of Hope and Glory
@@MichaelJirochVisualArtist thank you so much
nocopiesminombre you’re welcome. In the US it has a different title. Pomp and Circumstance.
@@MichaelJirochVisualArtist That is the name of the music by Edward Elgar for
which the words of Land of Hope and Glory were written by A.C. Benson
It has two names, land of hope and glory or Pomp and circumstance
I would have been a Loyalist. I love Britain and the Proms.
Michael, what is the name of the piece you have playing over the opening film footage?
Timothy Polyard ....To Thee My Country. It used to be a standard play at the proms.
I vow to thee my county
What happened to the rodetsky march tonight?
Why is it Nessun Dorma sung by Pavarotti? Did Jonas Kaufmann did a lip sync that evening?
Good ear! Well because my recording of Kaufman was terrible, so, I had to use another recording.
