      Dear Max,
Thank you for the critique. The definition of Palazzo is: "A large imposing building or place of residence," hence we used the term to describe this grand "villa." No doubt different terms can be used and there are several words in Italian to describe it, maybe even in different parts of the country. Anyway, thanks for taking time to watch our video.

The St. George area is a terrific place to live for certain. As far as "racial slurs" I suppose you can hear those most anywhere. I've lived in large cities, traveled to more than 30 countries and found that people for the most part are not particularly racist almost anywhere. There are always a few people with bad experiences but I think you will find the people of south west Utah as a pretty accepting group. There are people of all races living side by side pretty happily. I know I have friends of many ethnicities and am a descendant of many cultures.

Apparently there is more than one word in Italian to describe a large building or home in Italian.
From Merriam-Webster/ Palazzo, Noun: Meaning a palatial building, especially in Italy.
Is the subject not a palatial building?
It was described by the Italian Architect who lives in and is from Italy as a "Palazzo." I take his word...

Who the hell needs a house that big…some who has ego problems

    • @williamhobson2823
      @williamhobson2823 2 месяца назад

Lindley, I appreciate your remark. It is a part of the human condition that when income rises, lifestyle changes. Why would anyone pay 3 to 10X as much for an airline ticket to fly first class or charter or buy a light jet? Why would someone purchase an automobile that costs well into 6 figures or clothing that is multiple times more expensive that you will find in an average department store? These homes are bought by people who can afford, and justify their ownership of them generally because of their financial situation. My experience has been they are very giving and sharing with family and friends as well as philanthropic with charities. While ego may have a part in a large home, ranch or other luxury property ownership, I find that is not generally the primary motivator. If they don't just "hoard" their funds in an off shore bank account somewhere and purchase real or personal property, their money is providing jobs by circulating in the economy. I think we can all be thankful for that fact.

Italian Palazzo? No sir, this is a Villa. A "Palazzo" is a... palace: a multi-store, monoblock building.

    • @Florida12man
      @Florida12man 5 лет назад +1

David, Thank you for taking time to respond to our You Tube Video. To clarify, the main home has 4 total levels as well as ancillary buildings that make up the complex of buildings that form the "palace" complex from which the root word Palazzo comes from. While I'm no expert in Italian, I did live there for a while years ago.
In double checking translation sources as well as Italian translation the home is a palace with a very strong Italian influence. That said, your observation that this home is a villa is also correct, although the term is used more in central Europe or the British Isles. So, in conclusion, congratulations, your term is as correct as ours. Mansion, palace, villa, palazzo, it's a very fine home that we trust will make someone very happy. Best to you!

@@davidebonannini640 Im pretty familiar with the home and am Italian. The home was designed by an Italian architect. The majority of the exterior work was done by Italian artists mimicking Italian palazzo's in Tuscany. While not pure Tuscan architecture, it can be said that this home is undoubtedly highly influenced by it. I happen to know that the roof tile itself was brought in from Italian hill country. I would encourage a quick google search of Tuscan architecture and then do some comparisons with what is in the video. If it is not Tuscan and does not fall into a palatial adjective, the what is it? Im fairly confident that there were not meaning to describe the typical Florentine or Venetian architectural Renaissance buildings that were indeed "multi-store, monoblock building". However, it seems that the descriptive noun's was used to describe the villa in a way that indicates its massive size. I.E. "Palazzo" in Italian refers to any building block not just a palace -a block of apartments is a palazzo too!Ultimately the word comes from the Palatine Hill in Rome where wealthy Romans had their magnificent homes.A villa is an imposing country residence usually with accompanying estate.A royal palace is known as a "reggia."

Besides, it's a LOT more private! Any questions you have about south west Utah real estate, or politics for that matter, please don't hesitate to engage in a conversation.

Ha. i get it. The original owners had 3 young children. They wanted a place for them to invite their friends to come over for a fun time of indoor climbing. That area of the home has retracting glass walls with a large projection theater for "drive-in movies" on a warm summer evening. The 1st level has an in ground round trampoline at the bottom with a velcro stick on wall. Fun for those who want indoor adventure. Not for everyone, but certainly for someone!

Thank you for your comment. Having lived in Europe for a summer and traveling there most every summer as well as studying architecture for my career, it should be noted that most architecture, even in the old world is derivative or modified. True the pyramids and obelisks of Egypt and the Parthenon of Athens are monumental and likely original thought, they have been copied or modified for centuries by the Romans and subsequently many places in Europe and then around the world. The home was built by a fellow who spent a fair amount of time in Tuscany, but didn't want to live and raise his family in Italy. (a nice place to visit...) The home was built to modern American standards, but truly has an authentic Italian feel.
I think it's great to appreciate beautiful creations where ever you find them.

The exterior stones look too perfect. It's missing the sense of aging. It's also too complicated, especially the exterior and needs to be simpler too truly capture Tuscan architecture. I've seen over 500 Tuscan/northern Italian house tours over this last year and this definitely looks very, very Americanized. Too cluttered multi-building proximities for sure. Very nice color scheme though. Pass this on to the designers and tell them to live in Italy for 6 months minimum before making their next idea.

Thank you so much for your comments and constructive criticisms.
You have an interesting perspective for sure.
We represent these types of homes from time to time, that is, re-creations or using as a template, some type of some type of European architecture
As a casual observer, let alone someone who obviously appreciates architecture knows this home was built for the owners, not with the idea of selling the home. They have spent considerable time in various locals in Europe and settled on the hill top villages of northern Italy as a look they wanted to use.
The home was created to not necessarily duplicate historic buildings, but reflect the "look" they wanted.
This home is not a movie set or a museum, it's a one of a kind home and property that in the course of us marketing it had dozens of showings and multiple offers before coming to terms and successfully selling the home to its new owner. They are delighted with the home and although have made numerous changes to both the interior and exterior, they kept to over look of the home they fell in love with.
All through out the US and in many parts of the world, there are large mansions constructed that either reflect old world or some other historic architecture or these new homes embrace the modern and contemporary. It becomes a matter of personal taste, exercised by people with the resources that we observers can either critique or appreciate for what they have had created. I also appreciate the economic activity they have added to their local markets by having these large homes built.

Thank you for your comment and Italy experience with architecture. This home has been purchased by a couple who have extensively updated it to suit their taste. Having spent much time in Italy myself, I agree that this home has been adapted to American tastes for certain. However, I have spent some time in updated Italian villas in the Tuscany region and while the exteriors, other than windows and repairs have not changed much, most have been very much updated to reflect modern taste. Hundreds of properties through out Italy are available for purchase at VERY cheep prices just to get their economic circumstances turned around by foreign investment dollars.

They have had their designers come in and while not removing the climbing wall in the home gym area had it re colored to look much lighter, almost like a marble quarry. The lower portion of the wall which went down into a round trampoline room has been opened up to the lower level and is now a card/game room. I think you'd like it.

Thank you for taking time to watch our video. We understand the owner/builder spent quite a bit of time in Italy and loved the overall look and ambiance of Italian villas. Of course, the owners put their own style and needs ahead of pleasing other people. No matter the style or taste most people find it interesting to view what others have built.
History tells us that many homes and monuments in many major European cities have set off a public firestorm for the first generation, but are now iconic.
Think the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Victor Emanuel Monument in Rome to name a couple. The populace was aghast but now love them.
      Best wishes to you.

I have spent quite a bit of time in Germany. A beautiful country for certain. You should be proud of your homeland. We have many people of German ancestry who immigrate to the USA seeking a free land with limitless opportunity for the common man. The subject home was built by a young man who was descendant of European immigrants. He traveled to northern Italy many times to re-create what he personally wanted. That's the great thing about being an American and an individual. Striving and reaching for the top and then enjoying the rewards with your family. Another family is going to enjoy this home, but we sell homes of all sizes, from less than 1,000 square feet to these very large properties.

PS I think it's important to remember, wealthy people, just like we who are not so wealthy who spend their money put it back in circulation for the myriads of well paid, skilled workers who have employment building these amazing properties. The castles of Europe were often built by near slave labor under the harshest of conditions. So my mantra is, "rich people, thank you for spending your money and keeping it in circulation rather than in banks or off shore accounts and out of circulation."

I am a floristmaster, gardencreator, I am good in aesthetics. my childhood was dominated by oldfashioned lifestyle, old house, animals, vegetablegarden. westphalia pur. now many germans have favoured comfort instead of beauty. lost in modernity. all that culture is a lot of work. but this was not enough, I studied western philosophy, went to india. two things are very important for me: my saxon-westphalian roots, the philosophy of sri aurobindo( west-east) , means a new look on veda, upanishads, gita. there are signs that the old vedic gods and our gemanic gods are identical. very interesting what was there 5000 years ago. I am a member of the AfD, party against EU-monster, merkel, migration. we more and more understand our little home-planet, the future is both, protecting nature, culture, limits, borders, diversity, in westphalia we like to be stubborn, and on a high level learning to be worldwide friends.
I have been to US , like new england states very much, the nature is great there in US.

We have traveled a fair amount in your beautiful country and anticipate another visit with in the next year or two. We admire how clean and orderly the cities are. The public transportation is just terrific, trains, airports road ways, etc. Many of our best engineering projects here in the US are done by descendants of German immigrants. We are now beginning to preserve our much newer "old" historic buildings and appreciate the arts in a much broader way. Our own relatively small community has a quite good symphony orchestra with a full concert season. (my daughter plays violin in the orchestra) We have always appreciated the arts in our family. I am pleased that you appreciate your unique culture and value it's uniqueness and importance. I agree that the attempted homogenization of Europe by the EU has had some huge issues. Liberal politicians in your country and in ours have made huge mistakes that ultimately we all pay for. Our liberal east and west coast cities now have serious issues with their homeless populations as well as increasing crime and some urban decay. I think that concerned people are starting to wake up and vote way more conservative as their dishonesty is exposed and it is brought to light how they personally benefit financially from working in the government. That is exactly opposite of how our countries government is supposed to work. There are many more Trump and conservative political leader supporters in the US than you would think. The major news media is super bias towards conservative political thought. Very best wishes to you my friend!!! William D. "Bill" Hobson

I might point out for your education, St. George has been one of the fastest growing metro areas in the US for more than 10 years. While it is no large metro area, the population is about to surpass 200,000.
We sell many million dollar and up homes in the area with multiple gated communities that are home to captains of industry, movie and TV celebrities, etc. Our airport offers direct jet service to Dallas, Phoenix, LA, Salt Lake City and Denver. The community/area has 13 golf courses, 5 lakes with in 15 minutes, and 3 world class national parks with in an hour or two drive, Zion Ntl. Park being less than 45 minutes away and visited by 4.5 Million people each year. St. George is 30 minutes from the Pine Valley recreation area with pine and aspen forests, lakes streams, deer etc. We have many Las Vegas residents come to Dixie Regional medical Center for world class health treatment, ranking very high nation wide.
Utah ranks #1 for job growth, economic climate, is one of very few states with a balanced budget and leads the nation in many socioeconomic areas.
If you have any genuine interest at all, you might take a few minutes an watch our Discover St,. George video made a couple of years ago. You can just google search it by typing in Discover St. George. You may be very surprised
