Hehehe, what you said was making my brain hurt trying to figure out how it could possibly work! Glad you figured it out, and the new setup looks like a big improvement over the old one!
Honestly why have that whole exhaust after the turbo? Just run it out the side of the bumper, way less weight and complexity. Honestly this is hot rodding as fuck, and I love the manifold, it and it looks like its gonna flow great. You did a great job with it. Get it painted up or ceramic coated or something and it will go fast as fuck. Go on ebay and find a broken trombone or something to cut the bell off to use as a turbo inlet lmao.
Might want to consider another flex joint for the wastegate since you have one on the turbo. Becase the wastegate is hard mounted with the turbo as it is now.
your welding and fabrication are getting so much better! I still love a good hack job though. "don't get it right, get it running." - david fryburger -
Agreed. Keeping the heat inside the piping not only reduces under hood temps which is always welcome on a boosted setup, but it has been known to give you a little extra power. 😁
I think the piping looks wicked! Great working with the tools and skills you have. Can’t wait to see what it runs to see the difference the plumbing makes.
Don't cry just get some Hi-Temp paint on it! Not everyone can be a show welder, and good to see people getting stuck into a project. Enjoying the vids, looking forward to more.
I would simply wrap both manifolds and everything up to the turbo and the up-pipe, no one will know what the welds look like and it keeps the heat for better spool, to wrap everything should only cost about $30
It all looks pretty dang good Preston! Don’t worry about how the welds look. As long as they’re strong enough. That’s all that matters. People are gonna talk smack. If you need inspiration of someone going fast with a less than pretty turbo kit. Go look up Turbo John’s channel. He’s a no prep racer that can hang with some of the small tire heavy hitters.
That turbo manifold is gonna work as good as any on the market and guess what looks don't win races Skill and Torque & getting it all to hook at the track are what really matter
Might want to purge weld your exhaust and intake pipes. Helps with the smother flowing interior pipes. Might not matter with mig but you asked for help with flow!
Fantastic job fitting all the piping !! My only suggestion is to switch to small gauge wire when doing tubing and the welds won’t be as bulky. Keep up the good work. Now go send it!
Looking good Preston, you might want to check out Taylor Ray for his pie cutting welds on his drift C6 Corvette and his drift miata and other vehicles he owns. Remember exhaust wrap hides a multitude of sins 😁 Tony from Western Australia 🇦🇺
Looking good Preston, SEMI- PRO WELDER! ISNT IT TIME TO DO A Q&A? With a new year comming give us some feedback on how everything is going, buissness- prodjects- teamwork - teambuilding and so on?! Good job Preston! Happy New Year!
Hi Preston well done mate, yet another masterpiece of engineering, I hope you and yours have a great new year and fantastic 2023 Tony from Western Australia 🇦🇺
You have to start somewhere in order for you to understand what it takes to get good at it. Great job for you rookie. You surely have done a better job than I could have done. Just think about the first time you started to weld to where you are at now. I have to bust your chops and have fun with it. Congratulations on your achievement in Welding
Good job man you did great man gotta give yourself more credit .. obv it’s not all rainbow welded beautiful stainless but hey nothing some heat wrap won’t hide haha
Could knock down some of the higher welds with a flap disc or something and then paint it all with some high temp flat black paint to pretty it up a Lil bit and protect from surface rust...otherwise it looks good enough to me...cheap and functional over glamour and expensive is always a win..also you should buy one of those scratch start tig welders and try practice some tig welding
It sure is Fronkensteened up good, but will work. When asked what the flo's like, tell them Concrete...what kinds flo do you have in your garage? I need soup.. *Merry New Year everyone.Shiny side up,greasy side down, and keep it at Redline.
Ssooooo just a thought. You have a flex connector on the feed to the exhaust onto the turbo. Will you need a flex connector for the blow off line if it's feeding into the exhaust side of the turbo. Just seems odd that you have two pipes coming from the engine and one is flexed but the other pipe is not.
Garage idiotS Justin I enjoyed watching you fab that turbo setup with a Mig. I'd like to see some less time lapsed vid of your plumbing in the angled WG and BOV.. I think what you did is functionally awesome.
Getting better every time is the name of the game, if you guys wanna really maximize your set up you need your headers to be equal length or close to it .. .. the front header you could’ve come out with a 120° bend towards the trans then make the 180°+\-back towards the torno amd it would’ve gave you a pretty straight shot to the turbo w the collector .. just my .69¢ 🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@GARAGEIdiotS I get what your thought process is but you’re using mandrel bends mostly so it wouldn’t hurt anything I bet you’d gain 15-20hp and that turbo would spoil prob 10-15% faster and much harder .. any time you add length to your runners you’re adding velocity inside the exhaust which is gonna spool that wutang whistle to the moon .. it’s just about making the exhaust pulses match so the set up is running as efficient as possible … what you did is going to 100% work just trying to help ya push the envelope :) I’ve been doing this along time and enjoy watching your progress
hey preston...i dont weld so i aint gonna say squat about yours lol from a woodworking perspective i would kerf cut not pie cut... just dont cut completely through the pipe it should make alignment a bit easier and bonus only 3/4 the weld length . as always thanks for the videos.
The wastegate position may not be optimal. Where you tapped into the the crossover pipes is good but that u turn will hurt flow and you might not have the greatest boost control.
Compared to what it looked like before that looks program like you said without a TIG welder and any better and then top of that it's mild Steel so it looks good I think if you took some header paint and painted it black and clean it up
Bossman get yourself a eastwood tig welder cheap and works awsome you can do aluminum and ss steel and mild steel i baught one self taught works great.
It's still a mystery to me how a V6 works with one charger. Same as V8; the intake side is clear to me. But do both cylinder banks feed the exhaust drive of the turbine? Wher do those tubes go?
Ah crud, also just realized the wastegate or the turbo exhuast needs a flex too haha 😂 😂
Hehehe, what you said was making my brain hurt trying to figure out how it could possibly work! Glad you figured it out, and the new setup looks like a big improvement over the old one!
I was just going to say that... but you realised before I got to teh end of the Vid!!
But "squeezing seagulls butts! made me serioulsy LOL!!
Couldnt you make a mount from the engine block instead of the hard mount?
Could just run a straight pipe from wastegate instead of routing to exhaust 👍
Honestly why have that whole exhaust after the turbo? Just run it out the side of the bumper, way less weight and complexity.

I concur. If the wastegate was dumped it would be ok, but with the recirc those pie cut welds will definitely crack or break right off.
Yup just realized that haha well, back to cutting and making ugly welds
When you compare how far your work has come along dude you definitely know what your doing now! You just do things your way and that's rad!
Lol. " That's good, oh yea, ewww, but that's good." Gotta love it. You're getting it done. That's all that matters.
your welding and fabrication are getting so much better! I still love a good hack job though. "don't get it right, get it running." - david fryburger -
a grinder and paint fixes all welds. theres also Cerakote and or wrapping it, which will keep the heat in the pipes.
Agreed. Keeping the heat inside the piping not only reduces under hood temps which is always welcome on a boosted setup, but it has been known to give you a little extra power. 😁
That should spool right up now!
I think the piping looks wicked! Great working with the tools and skills you have. Can’t wait to see what it runs to see the difference the plumbing makes.
Love the time-lapses of you showing what you don't know what you doing 😄
Please keep your crazy weather there!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 as far as the welds go, as long as it doesn't fall off or leak...your golden 😉
great work, that red Vtech on the valve cover looks amazing.
Don't cry just get some Hi-Temp paint on it! Not everyone can be a show welder, and good to see people getting stuck into a project. Enjoying the vids, looking forward to more.
Let's go!!!
It’s amazing how well that old manifold worked lol awesome
I would simply wrap both manifolds and everything up to the turbo and the up-pipe, no one will know what the welds look like and it keeps the heat for better spool, to wrap everything should only cost about $30
GOOD JOB !
You are learnin ...
And so are we ...
It works and I like it. ❤️
Looks great, and it's for a good time not a long time!
Holy crap Batman you are the man. Amazing how much effort and devotion and skill. Can’t wait until you refine your destination.👍❤️🇨🇦

That sick it look good to
Also your og manifold is very similar to what im currently making myself! Super stoked to finish my turbo setup
That turbo manifold is gonna work as good as any on the market and guess what looks don't win races Skill and Torque & getting it all to hook at the track are what really matter
Last 2 videos r on another level well done! Can't wait for the next one.
Might want to purge weld your exhaust and intake pipes. Helps with the smother flowing interior pipes. Might not matter with mig but you asked for help with flow!
Bro your way too hard on yourself you did an amazing job seriously you made that flow sooo much better and really killed it
Thanks dude haha I just always think I’m years ahead of where I actually am haha
I like the fact that you used what you had to work with. I think it came out sweet and should flow nicely. Looks like you had fun making it also!
Fantastic job fitting all the piping !! My only suggestion is to switch to small gauge wire when doing tubing and the welds won’t be as bulky. Keep up the good work. Now go send it!
Genuine Garage Idiots fashion. May not look the best but will do its job.
I don't care what anyone says.....it looks great 😉🙂🙂😉 nice work man
Mate, it looks good as I can't weld for peanuts. Looking forward to the next update. 👍
I like it fuck the hater's let them hate
Mig welding pie cuts 😂😂 so many places for it to crack and leak
Only the best from Garage Idiots 😎🤣
I think the new setup looks sick! And for the price. Yeah man can’t complain 👌🏼
Looking good Preston, you might want to check out Taylor Ray for his pie cutting welds on his drift C6 Corvette and his drift miata and other vehicles he owns.

Nice! Good priority on the waste gate! It will flow really good!
Preston, I’d take ugly ass bird crap welds that work, over fancy TIG welds that just look pretty any day. “Ain’t stupid if it works…”
Very nice!! Can't wait to see it go
Sweet video dude, the edit was on point.
Sheeewww that valve cover is cleeean
Nothing wrong with better air flow. Looks killer.
I think it loooks great man, keep up the good work and good luck on this season!

If that’s something you’d wanna see we can do that! Happy New Year!
Great job and good welding
Dopeee can’t wait to see the dyno
No Argon shielding gas involved? Wiah You all the best as always. Great content.
It actually looks pretty sick man. Very steam punk style 🤘🏼
Shots fired, that 2step sounds mad, love the channel and keep it up mate cheers 🇦🇺😃👍
Nicely done
Hi Preston well done mate, yet another masterpiece of engineering,
I hope you and yours have a great new year and fantastic 2023

Lookin' good. Love the j-series engines. Watch out for boost creep, wastegate should be more inline for priority airflow.
I’ll see if I can tweak it
Grinder and Paint makes me the Welder I Aint!

Some high temp paint and painted it black that would clean it up even more
Good job man you did great man gotta give yourself more credit .. obv it’s not all rainbow welded beautiful stainless but hey nothing some heat wrap won’t hide haha
you will never see it flying down the track,, our saying always has been, if it works its good.. and it looks good from my house.. nice job btw..
Looked really good to me, specially compared to what was there before.
If you want just heat wrap the manifold, purpose and looks! Great work!
Bro those weld are so much better than what you used to do... If it was stainless with stainless wire it wouldn't look as bad
A wastegate on the turbo housing itself would be badass and save some room. I’ve seen it done on legit fast cars.
We have it set up that way in our LS Jeep but wanted to try this route on the civic
Nice job!
Grind the welds so it all smooth and it’ll look way better
Great build great job
Fingerlicking gooooood!!

I actually love the setup

You did 👍 good. Wite wheel all your welds bro.
Ssooooo just a thought.

Yes just realized that hahaha thanks
Great design man. Looks cool as shit. Keep up the Awesome work.
Heat wrap will fix the welds right up!
You're too hard on yourself sometimes, you should be proud.

We thought about that but didn’t know if adding a 180 bend was work going equal length, kinda sounded like robbing Peter to pay Paul ya know?

Great to see the J Civic again.
Will you paint the manifolds?
I like it I did my manifold like that
just wrap it and it will be mint!
The wastegate position may not be optimal. Where you tapped into the the crossover pipes is good but that u turn will hurt flow and you might not have the greatest boost control.
I was worried about that, not sure where else to put it though 🤣
If it works all good!
All about 9s. Cool d series valve cover
That's why you cover it up with DEI exhaust wrap lol
The welds are not thaaat bad. While the flow directions seems pretty legit. Nicely done idiot!! :D
well, comparing that to my welding work...
I'll be over here making soup.
I like soup
Compared to what it looked like before that looks program like you said without a TIG welder and any better and then top of that it's mild Steel so it looks good I think if you took some header paint and painted it black and clean it up
What's the current engine setup? Looking to do something similar but on a different platform.
You can hardly tell the difference between your welds and Haydens.. 🤪 lol, whatever works right.
Missing a flex on the wastegate. Dope tho!
Yea haha already cutting it apart
Those flexi joints you used in that manifold will fail in a funny way. They get cooked then they close up. You want to use a Bellow there.
I think this one is bellowed inside and just has the weave for extra support? Idk I’m an idiot 😁
some heatwrap wil make it beautyfull
Looks great and if it works run it.
By a chance do u take orders like can u make a custom kit for 7th gen accord.?
Bossman get yourself a eastwood tig welder cheap and works awsome you can do aluminum and ss steel and mild steel i baught one self taught works great.
It's still a mystery to me how a V6 works with one charger. Same as V8; the intake side is clear to me. But do both cylinder banks feed the exhaust drive of the turbine? Wher do those tubes go?
Heat wrap should help the welds🤔😅
I'm hoping one day you can buy tig welder
Are you selling your old exhaust manifold set up
Those poor tires...lets say our prayers for them now
Flex joint will fail soon, look into a double slip joint when it goes.
Honestly bro screw what the welds look like if they hold pressure🤙
