Joy, I bought that same fabric that is in your top, from hobby lobby. I made the Blackwell cardigan out of it and I absolutely love it. It also, looks so nice made with your cowl neck sweater. It is gorgeous fabric. I ordered sure fit designs a couple days ago and I ordered her relocation package. I’ve already got my dress kit and pants kit all finished and my muslins cut out! It’s wonderful. I emailed GLENDA and told her she really should have you working for her as I ordered because of you. I’m sure she has been swamped with business because of you. You are a true asset to her, and I’m sure she knows it! So happy she is giving prizes for the pants. What a nice added incentive, although I never win anything, but that’s ok because I wanted to do this before the prizes were offered! I have so much fun doing all your sew alongs!

Joy, I don’t think that fabric is at any hobby lobby anymore. My daughter and sister wanted some and I went back and checked and it was long gone. Anything that pretty is going to fly out the door. Maybe they’ll bring it back. If I see it again I’ll message you.

Oh my goodness I laughed so hard when you said "water outlet valve" to funny! I can't wait for a video with Philly, please tell her she is missed a whole bunch. How nice of Glenda aka The Good Stitch to include those who reside in Canada. I always feel sad when us Canadians are left out because of where we live. I am just finishing a knit top in the double brushed and your right it is so soft. I am using one of Pamela's patterns...The Peek-a-boo but no peekaboo for a winter top.
I'm going to go to Pamela's place and check out the Peek-a-boo. I have several of her patterns, but I don't think I've seen that one. I'm so happy Surefit has a Canada shop.

Oh yes, the maroon pants fit beautifully. I could really see the difference between the light gray and the maroon. I will from now on refer to my “water outlet valve” 🤣. Love it! Can’t wait to see Philly again. You girls have a wonderful time!

Thank you Joy for doing this. I purchased the entire sure fit kit earlier this year and never got around to doing anything with it.
I have made pants with SureFit designs and you are right! The crotch length was a struggle. It took me 5 muslins to get it right!! I found that I needed two inches +/- for the front and back to fit right. Looking forward to the sew along. I’m in Arizona so I am going to make crops.

You introduced me to sure fit design and about over a year ago I got the dress kit combo so if I like what you'll be showing us I might get the pants kit now. I am so happy you are starting to sew clothes. You will LOVE it! Don't get disappointed if you mess up, because you will. Just consider every mistake a lesson, and just keep on sewing!
Those burgundy pants fit you so well!! I took Lorraine's class as well, and she is an awesome teacher. I remember seeing you and Philly in some video demonstrating the crotch curve tool - not sure what year that was - and I was laughing so hard I was sobbing :)

Hi Joy! I am hoping to get in on the vintage challenge. Can you believe JoAnn Fabrics latest sale that began last Thursday doesn’t have any patterns on sale at all the entire two weeks? What’s up with that? Was hoping to get a Simplicity Vintage one I really liked. Oh well maybe Hobby Lobby will have a sale on them next week. If not I can get it online at a decent price anyway.

I got my SFD KITS last week. I am still trying to figure it out....there is a lot of information to absorb. I also got my first (of what I am sure will be many) order from fabric mart. I ordered the 10 yard bundle and got 5 pcs of fabric --corduroy , 2 knits, a cotton and I think a taffeta. All at least 2 yards each. I should get busy and try to figure out the pants kit for the sew along.

Joy, where in the SFD process will you start the Sew Along: at the making the master pattern or later along the process? Just want to know what I should do ahead of time to be ready.
I am hoping everyone will start learning about their patterns now. Phylly will be here tomorrow and we will make a new pattern for her. I will video her making it and show all of you right away. It takes awhile to get your pattern done correctly. Just keep watching.
Joy Bernhardt Thank you, Joy. I am so happy you are doing this. I’ve had my SFD kits for a while but have not successfully completed anything with them b/c there have been so many changes in sewing fabrics and technology since I last sewed that I have been just focusing on learning my machines and getting a feel for the new fabrics through basic tees. I am ready to advance now but here in my area, there aren’t any other SFDers that I can find. So, having you to sew along with is just the nudge that I need!

I would love to get the pants sewing kit, but according to the Australian Sure Fit website, it will cost me $74 (code applied) which includes postage. Unfortunately too much for me at this time. Looks great, though

What elastic will you be using for the back waistband?
I am using 1 1/4" of the ribbed elastic that is kind of stiff. Really soft elastic isn't stable enough in my opinion.
I hope you get her a machine!
Joy, what do you recommend as test fabric for the first pair?
Your "muslin" must be the same kind of fabric you will make your pants out of. I almost ALWAYS can wear my muslin. IF you are using a woven without any stretch, you can use gingham or muslin fabric, but they would not be wearable. Great for testing fit though.

Looks like your waist is higher than you want it to be-maybe if you tried fitting from your smallest circumference. My waist always slinks to my narrowest point which makes the crotch length longer and pants “smile “ ( you know those smile lines)
I'm afraid the top of my pants would touch the bottom of my bra! It has to be lower.
What fabric did you use on the pants you have on today? They look very nice and so does the blouse.
Thank you Donna. I noted in the video that all my pants are made with STRETCH wovens. Twill, denim and linen. I like a little bit of stretch so the pant can grow a bit if needed during the day.

Just a suggestion for useing the Lutterloh German System for perfect fit Pants which worked for me n thot U might be interested.
I know there are several different systems. I have another one I bought years ago from a third company. It is very similar to Glenda's system.

It is usually just before you pay. I know there is a place for it. Lots of people have used it. Are you in the US?
