Yo you literally found my problem. No mechanic could figure it out. This is the same noise. It only happens after about an hour of driving at high speeds but goes away after I slow down. No warning signs. This is the exact sound.

Ive suspected for a while this is what's wrong with my Honda element. It's not as loud but same basic noise. It's typically upon harder acceleration. Thank you. Good examples of car noises are crucial to verifying self diagnostics.

Is it possible this would cause a rough idle when in drive with foot on the brake? I already replaced all of my motor mounts so I don't think it's those. My steering wheel vibrates a lot now.

My Jetta makes that exact noise but only when I turn the AC on, could it be a pulley problem? The alternative is a bad compressor but that would be too expensive for me to replace :(

wine I can deal with because I know it would be pulley ,,but when you're hear ticking and clicking and stuff like that bothers me. I notice it a lot with my car. I'll notice it right away if there's a problem... but I noticed when it's humid out because normally, it's very dry in Arizona desert when it's humid I notice sounds more... I always get nervous. It's an AC compressor or something. Usually it's the, idler pulley or tensioner belt pulley... I've already replaced idler pulley at least five times on the car and it's only got 80,000 miles on it.. always seems to fail...on my gen 2 mazda6

Maybe the car drove through water puddle and this noise developed but if you remove belt the alternator doesnt spin and you started the car and showed no noise. Maybe its not tension pulley cause water may have damaged alternator. So the real diagnosis is still remaining.

Last night my dad called me that his car was smoking, leaking, and overheating, so I quickly went outside and when he was gonna park, I had to assist him turning the steering wheel, because it was super hard. After he parked, I quickly knew it was coolant what his car was leaking. So I was baffled that how come the coolant leak, no power steering, overheating, smoke, and car stalling was all related. After thinking and thinking, I said that has to be the serpentine belt that broke, but how the car was overheating, so I was confused. Ok, so after the car cooled down, after a few hours, we went outside to check for the car, and first thing I noticed was it didn't have the serpentine belt, and it was melted in some parts of the pulleys. So I started to solve the puzzle. The smoke was due to the melting of the belt. Then, I checked the antifreeze and was full. So it was not a hose nor the water pump. Then, I moved all pulleys and the idler pulley was stock, so that's why it broke the belt. Then, I was thinking then why the coolant was boiling and overheating? I started to realize that is because the water pump is driven by the belt. So the puzzle was solve. The mechanic changed the idle pulley and the car was fixed.

I have the same noise on a Honda pilot. When I disconnect the alternator, the noise stops.
