Quick Tip: Keep the old belt in the car (in the trunk) in case you have a problem. Maybe even a simple socket set too so you can install the belt if yours breaks while on the road. In most vehicles, you can install a fan belt with minimal fuss (cars it's a bit harder because the engine compartment is smaller and things are crammed in more, plus they are generally transverse). A good sepentine belt will probably run you about $50-80. Don't buy the cheap $20 belts. You get what you pay for and they likely could break within a few years, and obviously, at the most inconvenient time. Just spend the extra money. It's something you replace every 8-10 years and could become a safety thing if your vehicle stalls because the belt breaks. Not worth it to save $50. Top Gear has gone down hill since they started spinning off the original BBC one with Clarkson, Hammond and May. I mean the one with Wood, Fererra and and Faust is OK but after that it's sort of gotten dumb, sort of like the FAst and Furious over the years. Vee belts too.
Yes I still call it that.
still giving it away ?😂😂😂
Scotty's always entertaining with straight talking education no one else is like him.
Hey Scotty I did the belt on my 06 Civic and the new and old belts were different sizes. Found out later that they revamped the pattern because of things snapping. Awesome video!
Now this is the tool I really want to have in order to be able to work on my car, thank you so much. Scotty
It's only sir scotty that tells us, or gives us advise on what to do in our cars..
Salute to you sir👍
Scotty, I NEED A NEW TORQUE WRENCH !
I used my old one as a breaker bar one to many times and it broke. Imagine that. But that wont happen again because I now have real breaker bar. It works great. Love your show.
The one tool I sure could use. You are the saver of us back yard mechanics.
Thanks for this advice, Scotty. I have to change one on my 2007 Tacoma since it has 80,000 miles. It doesn't have any visible cracks but its the original one. I am fortunate this thing hasn't come apart on our move from Mississippi to Arizona in 2023. Its ultra dry here and it could happen anytime. I don't want a breakdown in town. Its expensive here to take a chance if i can fix it now.
Thanks Scotty, I have a 2011 Infiniti QX56 and your belt replacement demo helped me change mine.
My car has been squeaking horribly and at first I thought it was an issue with my power steering, but now I’m going to check my belts!
i was about to pay someone to change my belt, but now i think ill just do it myself thank you scotty!
The belt in my 2005 Honda Accord disintegrated earlier today on the way to an app. Now I know which brand to buy, thank you!
So much information inside scotty. I dont think he will ever run out of good advice
Thank you for the good advice. My Corolla is now 6 years old but still have under 50,000 miles.
great that you give advice that might seem obvious to anyone who knows about cars but is not 'common sense' to someone, like me, with next to no mechanical knowledge.
Scotty gives some great advises and probably saves people lots of money and headaches. We thank you for that.
Stumbled across your channel recently and been inspired. Swapped my busted tire, new engine and cabin filters. Gonna get to doing oil next. Thanks for all the educating!
Scotty is a true Master. I have same issue from Fan belt for Lexus GS 2006. It makes noise when i start the car in winter but in summer no noise. Thank you for useful videos.
@Mark Codiroli Thank you Mark.
