- LOST FOOTAGE LINK IN DESCRIPTION BELOW... Early start out of NYC....brisk and rough waters coming out of the harbor...settled down a bit as I went along the coast but wasn't expecting it to be so windy all the way. Saw all sorts of Dolphin, Tuna, Blue fish, and even Pelicans! I didn't realize there were pelicans in New Jersey... Made it to Atlantic City. My phone got very wet this morning and thus all the video is stuck in there for now! Enjoy! Who needs a radio when I can sing?!
• RI to KEY WEST - LOST ...
I wish I knew how you train your mind and psyche to enjoy rather than worry about engine or mechanical failure…..very impressive. I have ridden Harley’s across the country, solo, 4 times and I still have not learned how to let go of the fear of system failure! 😊😂
SKOL 3D! I'm Enjoying the ride. That Whaler is amazing. Be safe out there and keep"em coming!
Thanks John... Appreciated!!
Nice. Whalers are a little bumpy into the wind, but nothing beats the ride downhill!
Dale you are crazy!! Hope you knees and back can handle those swells!! Stay safe!!
There's some pretty decent chop out there. The waves are white capping and that Whaler is just popping over them with ease.
Wow. Boat looked really dry. Fun stuff.
Ummmm, not really a dry boat... Kind of hard to film while getting splashed so that might be why it appeared dry... Thanks for commenting!
Great video thanks for that ,i must be honest there is really small amount of videos of boston whaler montauk series in rough sea
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@3DSAILOR can you please tell me does it better to buy new model montauk 170 or 190 i will use it in adriatic sea and i will use it for fishing ,i am between that two models because of cost of fuel and everything else. Thanks in advance.
@@kristiancacic6361 Hey Kristian..I posted your question on the Everything Boston Whaler Facebook page as I only have experience with the 1965 Montauk style. The question brings up other questions such as, typical sea conditions, how many people will be on the boat, are you trailering it or do you have a dock, etc...wiithout answers to those questions the general consensus was bigger is usually better if you have the budget.
@@3DSAILOR there will be 2 people on the boat i don't have a dock so i will trailering it. Sea conditions ?I can tell on adriatic sea it can be chop water but you know everyone try to have and buy a boat for storm conditions, let be honest nobody will go fishing in rough sea conditions because it's not fun and it is difficult to catch something i want to.have safe boat because if the bad weather comes quickly i can get to home. And I know stories were people sink a boat in the middle on the sea big waves comes and if you are not an expert on the sea you can sink boat it's hard but you can if know what i want to tell 🙂
@@kristiancacic6361 This is all true...luckily the Boston Whaler is the unsinkable legend! One of the other comments was "I never heard anyone say I wish I bought a smaller boat" or I wish this boat was 2 feet smaller! Get the 19!
My man. Now you got me thinking. I need to do this and only in a BW.
Way too cool, very lucky, every time Ive flown into NY I see white caps..! You need a dodger and a bimini top, would’ve given you shelter and no need to carry a tent....
I do wish I had a windshield and Bimini top...next on the lists!
was watching some guys do this trip in a 35' yacht... maybe a little more comfy, but this looks a lot more fun... and cheaper too
The Tri Hull makes it more of a rough ride too. Its a great safe boat but a little more rough. We have a 14 footer
Yes, I like the way it stays on top of the water... Never once has water come over the bow no matter how big the waves are...
Following. Wish you go would into some detail on your layovers -- marinas, lodging, etc. Good luck.
thanks Bobby...I'll try to add some of that stuff. Thanks, Dale
Did you ever think about a small HP kicker as an emergency engine out precaution or a sea tow card?
I do have towboatus and have been on the lookout for a kicker but haven't found one I like yet...thanks!
i know im a couple years late but do u have a transducer on the transom?
yes
You’re out of your mind lol how many extra fuel tanks did you carry with you?
I have the 22-gallon main tank and had a 5 and an 8-gallon tank onboard...
What was your run time from NYC to AC? It looks like you had the perfect combination of winds and following seas.
It was 4.5 hours I think...it was great once I was out of the harbor! Lot's of sea life along the way...
I have a 1976 Super Sport 11 ft whaler with a 25 HP Yamaha 4 stroke...do you think I could go from Norfolk, VA to Key West in my fun boat...lol.
For sure, you can do it!
Well did you?
@@jamessandman3708 No... but I'm still having fun in the Chesapeake with my Whaler. Gas is too expensive now ; )
@@Nobamaable Well that's cool! Gas is high, my 16 foot skiff is parked and I'm getting my 19 foot day sailor ready! lol 😅....⛵
Is that a one man boat ?
It was that day! But nah...
If I have a minute, how would u rate seaworthiness in gnarley 2ft chop?
I would rate it a 10. No matter how big the swells I have never had a drop of water come over that bow. It stays on top of the water as a part of her design. The drawback of this of course it does bang a bit while going into a swell.
dude your kinda crazy but this is absolutely awesome man. what was the wind gusting to?
ha, maybe like 20 knots but it was an offshore breeze :)
3DSAILOR that’s awesome. Out of curiosity is there a wind speed (not gust) that you’ll draw the line at going out in?
What model of Whaler is this boat?
It's a 1965...I'm told there was no model name back them but similar to Montauk
3DSAILOR Beautiful hull and seems to cut water nicely. Thank you for your reply.
It is a whaler sakonnet. I have a 1969 one and love it. Very similar to the mauntauk once it came out
wait...you went from sandy hook to ac? no stops?
NYC to Atlantic City!
How much fuel are you burning every day?
I am following you every step, happy travels!!
About 14 gallons - pretty close to 85 mile runs each day...thank you!
I am from Croatia and i am between new montauk 170 and 190 , because bigger boat bigger cost of fuel consumption and everything
What size, Engine are you using
Yamaha f70
.
...and your singing is just OK but I'd rather hear the pur of that 4 stroke engine!
LoL why do I get the idea this guy would be talking and singing to himself even if he wasn't filming...
