I live in Wasilla, AK and have lots of viable fishing rivers and creeks all around. My brother has been trying to get me into fly fishing for years and I got sucked into this channel and can’t wait to test what I’ve learned out on the water

Your videos are so in sync with my learning timeline. I just started nymphing last week and threw a couple of my first streamers today. Whilst doing so I thought in my head, " I need a nymphing video " and I come home to see this...Glorious. Love the video's, the work, and knowledge y'all have. Keep up the great work and I look forward to many more videos and podcasts!

As a retired Biology teacher I think you should look into being a guest speaker in a high school biology class - never heard an English teacher with so much entomology knowledge!!! Well done!

Very informative, kind of new to the sport, can you distinguish about the "wet fly". Looks like a dry fly and an emerger.
    Thanks Brian from NJ

Boulder is a bigger “city” that is close to rivers for trout fishing. I moved away from there because it started feeling a little too big city for me. I moved away to a remote little mountain town with a population of about 1500 and my neighborhood sits against a gold medal river.

Yeah Wyoming! I love my wide open spaces too! I live in Wyoming too and I know it’s the best place on earth, however people are moving here all the time. What town do you live in?

Logan Utah would be a nice spot. Got some good spots in the canyon within minutes. Then you are also a half a day from amazing places like island park.

Very wise comments on the wading, inexperience or even experience can lead you into trouble as in lack or too much confidence, the rivers I frequent are peat stained so you cannot often see what is below you regardless of the level, studs or felt soles are a godsend for safety when wading whereas boots alone can be treacherous on slippy boulders / stone, and you end up looking like a bad ballerina whilst trying to keep vertical! I have not had much of an input on RUclips or via a direct question(s), I have been working, sleeping then on my days off fishing like there is no tomorrow whilst we have the summer daylight. Tight lines to you all from across the pond in the UK.

Hey Spencer, i know this episode is about the basics, but i got a question that is a little more advanced. I know you have your classic mayfly nymph patterns like the p-tail, frenchie, and hares ear, but those are basically the 2 same colors. When you have dry flies, a sulpher is very different from a march brown or a bwo. Should i be adding some other colors in when tying mayfly nymphs to step up my game, or all the nymphs just look the same under water

In our experience, color is the least important. Size and shape matter a lot more. But there are times when fishing to really discerning/picky fish that we will play around with color and try to match it exactly. The only way to know is to experiment!

For the question "what city should I move to"? Far better than Denver would be Colorado Springs, still large enough to have everything a city dweller wants (yuck) but far better than Denver.

They also call fries chips and chips crisps. Weirdos... Kidding, very insightful. We do retrieve them like lures!
