Take a shot of water every time I say "cinema camera" 😊
😂
Yah yah watähr
I’m fasting 😫🥺
Water? ok 🥃 I filmed a parade in slow mo. that sucked
Think I’ll just do espresso shots, got a long long long day/night of editing ahead of me 😂
Hi, Sara from the Twitter store. Could you help me with purchasing the edit button? That would be amazing. Thanks.
😂😂😂😂
We are filming TV documentaries and Blackmagic are the cameras we use. The 12K is awesome as well.
The price is killer!!! Not to mention, you're also getting DR 17 Studio licence for 2 devices which is worth $300 along with it.
We been using an Ursa G2 as our A-Cam... but now that we've received a BMPCC6k Pro with the viewfinder (I disagree with your take that it's not needed) but... um, that Ursa G2 isn't looking as good as it once did. Note that the G2 still can do 4k 120p RAW and the BMPCC can't so there's still more than one reason to keep the Ursa in the kit.
Our camera inventory use to be 2 Ursa Mini's, 2 Sony A73's, and 1 previous gen BM Pocket 6k. As as soon as we saw the 6K Pro, were were like "yaah ok whatever" then saw it had an articulating screen, we immediately bought 2 of them and sold everything else except the previous gen 6K pocket camera. We now shoot exclusively on Blackmagic cameras. The 6K Pro is a damn near perfect camera. Just those small "quality of life" changes make WORLDS of difference on set or out in the field shooting. We don't know how Blackmagic continues to just NAIL IT every time haha
🔥
I really like how you, Matti and Peter all have evolved to your next forms. Love the new content (always loved the older stuff too of course. Binged on Creative spaces yesterday lol) 👍👍👍
Gonna need some biggg pockets for this one! 👀🎥
Just take the money out to buy the camera and extra accessories. After that, there will be room.
Gonna need professional pockets
In more ways than one 😉😆
I have the theory that the 'pocket' in the name doesn't refer to the size of the camera, but to the size of the sensor of the Pocket 4k and the original one. In analog film that same sensor size was called 'Pocket FIlm'. But well with the 6k, the sensor size and the body size grew. So no matter what was the reason for that name, it's no longer the case :D
Sara, I started watching your channel years ago from your partners skateboarding (I've still got his Progress Daily jumper!) and I wanted to take a moment to say that you've come an extremely long way. The quality in your videos has increased 100 fold. It's actually so damn cool. I hope you're having fun, peace! - from Australia
means a lot thank you!!!
The EVF makes it *really* tempting. While I got the whole stabilization thing, I got to *love* the fact I can put this in a back-pack and know I can just grab it and go without worrying about battery life, ND filters and so on. If you were the rig-out the a7s 3 to have all that I'd be bigger...!
Great and entertaining video as usual! One of the things that's easy to forget about the early Blackmagic cameras is that they were the first cameras to shoot 10 and 12bit video @ 13 stops for less than $10,000 US. It's one of the reasons why footage from those original cameras still holds up. Today, we have better color science, more codec/format options, higher resolution, and more features from the Pocket Cinema Camera line - add time code input to the picture, and you have a great (inexpensive) camera for multi-cam setups!
I actually thought Sara looked like a Best Buy employee for one moment. Until I saw the Twitter logo lol I’ve been looking into getting a black magic camera for primary filming then my 80D for secondary. I love how in depth you go with your reviews
The one camera that eludes me... each time they released a camera from the original one way back then, and the one now, I've always felt they have one of the best and crispiest looking footage.
Slowly saving up for one. Well worth the investment even with auto focus.. cant wait to try one out.
I'm always astounded by the image produced by BlackMagic cameras, but they terrify me, in terms of price, size, name, ability and the constant niggling imposter syndrome in my brain.
True as a religious Christian it’s hard for me to use black magic cameras. Or even bring one to a church shoot or wedding 😂
@@motiontony haha we bought some Blackmagic gear (specifically the ATEM Mini Pro) for my church a few months ago to streamline the livestream, and it was funny the comments we got when we said "here's the blackmagic box, push the buttons and it just works", thankfully it has now been accepted and well loved but it definitely catches people attention the first time they see/hear about it!
Have you considered Z Cam cameras?
I was in the same place until earlier this year, I went for it and now I think I should have bought my black magic a lot sooner.
@@motiontony Just cover the logo with a fish sticker.
Incredible flawless and engaging description. Excellent job dude and thank you for doing this.
What is that Picture Frame? The bubbles changing color, it's driving me nuts.
Great video and the sponsor part was SO hilarious. Honestly the Blackmagic is crazy crisp looking so I don’t know why there’s like 0 RUclipsrs who use it as their main camera.
They need auto focus
Poor battery life, poor autofocus, huge file sizes, the fact that the main advantage is having data-rich files that you can spend a long time color-grading.
I think PewDiePie uses an URSA.
Because 99.9% of people don't need and/or can't afford a camera like this. Cost wise you also have to factor in other things, like lenses and batteries, not to mention the beast of a computer you need to edit 6k footage. It's mainly for gear heads who always have to have the latest and greatest, even though many classic independent films were shot on old rickety borrowed cameras. Gear doesn't matter. Also, nobody, except other gear heads, care if your film or RUclips video was shot in 6k or 4k, and they are probably watching it at 720p. It's all hype and overkill.
I also think that the pro style workflow is intimidating to regular RUclipsrs. For example, you can't individually delete clips on the BMPCC. You're supposed to dump the whole card/drive like you would with other pro grade cameras. It protects the integrity due to larger file sizes.
Fellow Texan here ;-) - there is some talk within BMD about creating a cable for the EVF such that the EVF might be mounted elsewhere (eg. shoulder rig or even laterally on a cage).
4-2021 I have a Canon 5D Mark ii that I mostly shoot still photos with. But I was surprised to learn that the 5D Mark ii is a capable video camera as well. I found out that the 5D was used in a few movie films in certain situations to get footage for the show. I think this is a relevant comment post on this video by you about Cinema camera's as the form factor of hand held digital cameras are becoming the norm as compared to film camera's.
"Captain America (2011)
The latest blockbuster film from Hollywood that utilized the Canon EOS 5D Mark II is Captain America: The First Avenger by Marvel Studios. In a press release from Canon, they stated that the 5D Mark II was used to shoot motion sequences that were seamlessly integrated into the 35mm film footage. These sequences included a car chase and crash, as well as a high-speed motorcycle pursuit.
Iron Man 2 (2010)
Before Captain America, another super hero movie took advantage of the small-sized 5D Mark II: Iron Man 2. Matthew Libatique, one of the hottest cinematographers in Hollywood today, used the mighty DSLR to film shots from the Monaco Grand Prix sequence where Tony Stark is attacked by Ivan (Whiplash) Vanko. 5D Mark IIs were mounted to all four sides of the moving vehicle to capture some background plate footage in Monaco, which was later combined with the live-action race car footage filmed in Hollywood. They also used the cameras around the track (in heavy-duty protective cases) to capture footage of the vehicles driving past, crashing, and yes-even running over them.
Black Swan (2010)
During the production of Black Swan (directed by Darren Aronofsky), Libatique used the Canon EOS 5D Mark II to shoot the ballet rehearsals which acted as preparation for the 16mm shoot.
House, Season 6, Finale (2010)
Season 6's closing episode of House marked the first time a major network television show used Canon EOS 5D Mark II DSLRs to film an entire episode, instead of the usual 35mm film cameras. Director Greg Yaitanes said the 5D was a perfect fit for the tight spaces of the finale "Help Me" which dealt with a crane collapse and a helpless victim stuck underneath the rubble.
Searching for Sonny (2011)
Searching for Sonny, the directorial debut of Andrew Disney, was the first feature film shot entirely on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II. Or is it? It was shot in the spring of 2010 (it was hoping to start in the summer of 2009), but it has yet to be released and is still listed as being in post-production. Instead of using Canon lenses, they opted for an old Nikon 50mm lens with a Nikon F mount and Canon EOS adapter, that way they had more control over the aperture at a fixed exposure.
Red Tails (2012)
Lucasfilm's upcoming Red Tails used the Canon EOS 5D Mark II for some of its footage, though the vast majority of principal photography uses the Sony F35.
Canon's 5D Mark II Invades Hollywood "- is the title of the article I got this info from on the internet.
BMPCC6K owner here who swapped over to the FX3! I blame the Sigma FP honestly, it put the idea of a tiny cinema camera in my brain, and now I'm obsessed.
I just bought a Z-Cam E2-M4 and am in love!
Hey Sara, great video as always, I like how you share your experiences and thoughts while reviewing a camera, not only talking about the tech of the product.
keep it up!
Yeah, the fx6 is my dream camera. I'm finally back up to two camera set up with my a7iii and an a6600(which will be delivered on Monday) if business holds steady or picks up, maybe I can upgrade next year!
That's my current setup, A7iii & a6600
Man. Unreal color but the focus is super soft to my eye (and I know I couldn't do any better than you on pulling it)
Cinema cameras are getting better and better. This 6k pro is so good.
For a grant application, I recently had to consider what would make a great Green Screen Virtual Production camera, without paying a rediculous budget. In the end, I suggested a BM Studio 4K Pro (good as a starting model), or the PCC 6K Pro (to fully satisfy workflow; revised to 6K G2). Fingers crossed we get the chance to buy one of these.
Great video. Which camera 🎥 are you shooting this VLog with?
Just getting started in video with an a6600, small rig cage and accessories w/godox monitor and am planning on getting a 4k this Christmas. 6k is a little too much for me yet but very drool worthy. Found your youtube after finding Gerald's Studio Undone on your NYC studio. Love your videos so far.
Sara Awesome! Video was great to see family and never get tired of watching. Thanks so much Deb. 💯👌🔥
So right on the multi-camera set ups! I’ve tried matching BMPCC4Ks to a Canon XF305 and it’s virtually impossible to make them look good together. I’ve had more luck with the GH5 though. I guess it helps that they’re both M43. The new colour science looks pretty nice too!
That thing is a TANK! I was really tempted by the 4K Blackmagic but as I'm beginner / intermediate stage I think I'm going with the Sony A6600.
Great video. Will you please do an update about this camera? I bought one 2 months ago, and it froze on me when I turned it off. It over-heard, or something and I had to wait 20 minutes for it to turn back on!
Damn, gorgeous camera! Love the twitter in store comment haha yeah....I agreed with you on that. Would love a beautiful camera like that! Always great unboxing and walk through videos!
For the price is it better to get the full Black Magic set shown here in place of the Sony A7S iii?
Currently on the A7ii - I really enjoy the Sony. Hopefully in the next year or so I'll upgrade to something more substantial. But since i'm just doing talking head videos, it doesn't make sense to upgrade. But man, would it be nice to have 10bit footage to work with. That FX-6 would be so amazing.
I thought you were a Best Buy spokesperson at first. I was like, "Oh, let's see what the Best Buy people are up to."
This was worth a wait to watch! Finally!!!
I got this for a B-cam for my Ursa. Glad I waited and didn't jump on the pocket 4K. I forsee it going to go the way of the BUFFALO. Built in ND was the thing for me and thankfully no blue tint with mine.
I love watching videos of cameras I can't even afford lmao
Hey Sara this is good combination left and Right combination
What I learned from this video is that we could have a 6K channel called "Sara's Kitty", with 6K footage of your cats, and monetize it. Think about it ;)
She can be a competitor to LinusCatTips lol
@@LoganRas or to Louis Rossman cat.
I just googled the price of the FX6 when you said get all the same camera. I want that + 2 A1's. At the moment I have an A7iii and a A6400 the A6400 isn't as good but it's small.
Sooo, as a newbie that wants to buy something good rather than replace it later, would this or a Sony A7/9 be a better camera for nature, architecture, and some video work?
Sara ... I love the new features on the Black Magic 6k Pro ... but once you load it down with the EVF & the battery grip, it's a real Behemoth ... Bart
These seems to be great cameras, with great value if you don't do photography too. I saw a vid on how a movie was shot, the used these cameras on SmallRig mounted to a rig on a car they drove around Nurburgring. They had several around the car. Movie was Børning 3
I don't see myself buying one of these cus it does not do both photography well and video, yes it can take pics, but apperently the cutton to press is awful. The app integration is a great idea. So far I am leaning towards lumix s5. 🤔
That sponsor segment, love. Just love.
We got 2 of these "Pocket Cameras", the non pro version, 6K. They were so small, we slapped them on a Tilta, got external batteries hooked up and did an entire wedding day with just one battery!
So much for being "pocket"!
your knowledge on cameras is amazing
pocket 🤣🤣🤣 so phone now should be consider as posts tamp size ?! Great video Sara :)
I'm so on board with Blackmagic design that I've named my backpack 'Pocket' so that they don't feel stupid. Best camera makers for Indie artists.
The optics are so true! I show up with my S1H and clients think I have a little DSLR. I am looking at getting a Varicam though.
put a matt box on it, a superfluous 15mm rod base to add an unnecessary lens support, a vmount battery on the back (just to use the USB-C), a cage for it to support a nina-V on top, and that will look as intimidating as what some people have done to their A7S3's.
what's gen 5 video color? I personally don't like it, it's too muted for my taste. could use a bit more saturation
Your perfect mixture of professionalism and silliness, paired with your style reminds me a bit of Shelby from another channel I love, Girlfriend Reviews.
Anyway! Appreciate your review of this camera. As much as the Sony a7s MK III looks better on paper and despite the oddities of the 6K Pro… I can’t deny my feelings for that 6K Pro funky looking camera.
I think you're the best tech youtuber ever
If a camera looks too tiny just mount it on a Sony 28-135 G e.g.
I have the a7R3 and I hate its small size. I pimp it up with cage and matt box and inferno and its looks better. Its hard to turn up at a client charging $5000 for a tv commercial or video with what looks like a toy camera.
The makeup on your face is stunning ❤️😂
So Sara I noticed some really weird color fringing on edges in your talking scene with the BMPCC 6K PRO around the door frame, the table edge and the BMPCC 4K I guess it is. Have you noticed that and if yes is it the lens or the camera that's causing that?
Def my lens canon 18-135. Not the nicest lens my sigma 35mm 1.4 was too tight for my office shot
How about video about setting up time code on a 3 camera (blackmagic) shoot?
seems this needs a revision, like to auto focus, live view on the tab and better battery expansion.
I love how much of a goofball John is.
Why does Black Magic's packaging look like someone designed it with an old copy of Corel Draw? Wow that EVF seems way over priced for what it is. Damn that color straight out of camera is great. Kind of hope you get that FX6.
In many ways, they have borrowed old school SLR technology, like adding batteries on the bottom. The pro looks very cumbersome to hand hold.
Ayy! Another Sarah Dietschy video!
Sara in 4K is a sight to behold :)
Hey Sara. What camera did you film this video with?
Took em how long to finally fix those major issues lol that said they consistently step their game up and this camera is looking pretty sick :o
why does the chroma distortion hit so hard on the edges with your wide angle EF, it looks dramatic!?
I loved this video and the new videos feel so fresh
Wow - that looks amazing. Awesome video!
Normally we'd be really scared about the possibility of dropping such a nice camera, but in this case we'd be too scared to pick it up in the first place :)
PS. We now have water toxemia.
Wow, can you say dream cine cam? Question; Could you adapt sony lenses with the short fling distance?
Is it me, or does the trim to the left of the door and the bookshelves behind you have a crazy fringe? Around 15:22 is a good timestamp to what I'm talking about...
Please review Canon C70 and/or compare this to Canon C70 and Red Komodo.
Wish they would keep at least one version of the pocket cinema cams small as possible. As they creep bigger it gets away from the original point: a tiny (relatively) dslr-ish body with a maximized screen off the back.
Geez- I don't understand why they can't make these more like a camcorder size so you can hold it in your hand more comfortably. You have to rig these things out like crazy just to be useable!
Very helpful video! Been hearing other RUclipsrs talk about some serious defects (dead camera bodies, dead battery strips, blue tint on the built-in ND). Was hoping to here Sara address these issues if she's had any.
Would love to see a video you try an original Canon EOS M running Magic Lantern Raw, great for B-Roll or small run and gun videos.
I had a tech question and can’t find help anywhere.
I’m a soccer dad that is just wanting to stream my kids games live but wanted to use a gimbal but they all require use of their app and then I can’t stream. Do you have tips or help you can provide. I have looked at gimbals, camera set ups and fancy cameras. I follow you for tech tips and thought you could provide some advice. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great content as always Sara, stay Peachy!
Is the lens included in the 6k camera? :)
saw that ProZD in the background there!
Most of this went over my head, but it was so enjoyable listening to someone who is passionate and intelligent.
Did your tshirt colour tone get lighter towards the end or was it a different tshirt lol. Loving the twitter vibe thoughh. 😬
She was filming the first bit on a different camera and color graded it. The last shots were filmed with the BMPCC 6K with a LUT used for the grading (hence the more green colors at the end)
@@LoganRas Arhhh I see thanks for the explanation!
@@mad_harmonies No problemo
The camera the client wants to see part was the best :)
Other youtubers: peeling the screen guard, taking 5 to 6 secs
Sara: Peels it in an instant
When they say Cinema, they mean it. sheesh. One ask Sara, how easy/hard is the footage to edit with? (In premiere especially)
Blackmagic raw is good to edit with! Obviously you still need a decent computer but assuming all things equal, it's good to edit with
I have the same mouse. Excellent choice.
Boy do I want this camera ..... also is that natural light, Sara is glowing
the way you rough handle the camera also touching the screen with your fingers and all that my chest hurts haha I prolly would have left that plastic on there for atlas a month lol. Great info tho thanks!
That fade to black at 13:46 had me thinking my iPad went to sleep. 😅
Hope They come back to pocket 2013 and refresh it :)
Great video! And I noticed you never did your usual intro O.O
My Galaxy Smartphone, would have like the same video quality and at 30fps (not only 24) and is much smaller and maybe cheapper.
You obviously have never used that toy footage in a full frame editing suite.
Are stills available on this one
BlackMagic and RED are awesome brands when it comes to cinema cameras 🙌
That's not really a pocket format but...:D Here I am who is impressed that cameras now can film in 5k and now this one has 6k :O
12:23 the RUclipsr is resting in it's natural habitat
I am a student go into my first year college. What laptops can you recommend in-between $1000-$1500. Nothing Apple please.
Get a legion

The Sega Gamegear of video cameras 🤣
The reason production houses avoid cameras like the Alpha 7S III goes far beyond whether or not they look professional.
Engrish Sarah: "Oooh, the grip is just so much more *nicer* ..." lmao.
