So most likely it was that humans would use PSI to the point they experience a type of advanced evolution into an energy being like race consisting of Psychokinetic energies that could wind up not only threatening Giegue's race but the rest of the universe as well. A type of artificial enlightenment if you want to use any religious or theocratic connotations or allegories. Though in oddity, there is no Giegue due to the story, so it is possibly that the Modern Men are: A) Humans from Pleiades who have gone missing due to exposure to the wellfont of where the PSI is coming from or what causes an awakening of PSI (This could be probable due to the strange spires that some of those humans have come into contact with as we have seen in the trailer which possibly acts like an antennae/conduit to allow the connection to that source to initiate the process of artificial enlightenment). And are part of a massive collective, gradually losing their will to the collective to become part of a greater entity. B) See A but instead it is one human who becomes a Gestalt mind of the will of a wiped out alien civilization (Spire could be a relic that appeared on earth like the Monoliths did from the film: 2001 A Space Odyssey) and gains the ability to use PSI first and kickstarts the process to initiate the whole series of events. Or said human is just driven mad by all the knowledge and power or is possessed. C) Alien race from another world who experimented on those missing humans to create more of their own believing in forcible evolution to uplift them. D) Alien race who has reached enlightenment themselves and are erasing humans as they see them as an inferior species unworthy of evolution and enlightenment. These however are just random theories drawn up based off of observing the trailer of the game.

This game has been in works for such a long time now and after release date after release date it ends up getting a rebranding, while leaving us with a very VAGUE idea of where the project is at this point. If the game was supposed to release back in 2015, surely after 4 years of delays the game MUST be getting close to completion! I cant see how it couldnt unless things REALLY slowed down that hard. But I dont know

i think mother 3 has the best overworld music while earthbound has better battle music (ofc there are gems in both mother 3 and earthbound but overall it's like this, in my opinion. excuse being 5 years late)
this has a little bit of a spelunky vibe for me. It has more harmonic depth than most of the songs on earthbound, and the spac-y instrumentation is kinda spelunky-ish.

Mother 3's soundtrack was good but only a handful of songs stood out to me, I'm glad they went with a more earthbound-ish aproach.
Mother 3’s soundtrack is W A Y better than Earthbound’s, but I’m happy they went for a more freaky Earthbound style, it fits Mother a lot more.
