As much the new shape is neat this...this will always be Mother 4 its still a shame they had to rebrand the WHOLE thing cause of the Nintendo ninja scare all i care about is the musical combos and the level up jingle thats all i care about

@@EddieJrDigiarts While I'm uncertain on SFX, I could see some of it possibly having been changed probably due to effects or various other things changing as well. I do know that a few tracks from the original soundtrack were replaced and new ones put in, such as any tracks that were involved in the Mother series, but there's a good amount of songs that are still in the game.

I remember when i got into mother in 2014. And i remember my reaction for seeing this level of work for a fan game was mind blowing. I dont blame the devs for taking so much time with this game (they aint doing this full time), but for fuck sake, this trailer was posted in what, 2014? Almost 10 years....is to much time to wait for a game.
I remember there used to be a demonstration of it, showing off each individual one and every combination. I imagine it got wiped in the rebranding like everything else, though...

It had a video to go along with it where all 4 were on a stage and as their part came on, they would step forward. The sprites, as far as I can remember, were visually indistinguishable from the ones in this trailer, which is why I strongly believe the team themselves made the video. At the time I didn't think much of it of course, after all why would all of their content suddenly disappear? I had it saved on an old device of mine and tried looking through some old logs just now to get a record of its existence, but it looks like it was only saved on the one device I couldn't do that for.

Nintendo doesn't even own the rights, Itoi does and he doesn't really enforce them. The real reason they rebranded was because the team wanted to and nothing more. The fear of a DMCA was just an excuse.

@eunaoseibrother They are still not charging for the game. It's still free. I understand wanting creative freedom, but the Mother series wasn't that constraining anyway. Every game has new characters, a new world, new combat mechanics etc... The game was still mostly their own thing, they only needed to put in some Mr Staurns and 1 villain from the previous games to tie it in with the rest of the franchise. I don't see how the series was constraining them.

The build of this trailer was leaked a month ago and it was very incomplete. The trailer makes it look a lot closer to finished, but this is more like a animation.
I remember when this came out everyone was talking about all the potential mechanics and ideas that were hinted at in this trailer but knowing what we do now with all the leaks none of it was true just smoke and mirrors

This looks fu€king AMAZING! Earthbound was always my favorite game as a kid, and it still brings me back and evokes so much nostalgia and a warm fuzzy feeling inside.. (fuzzy pickles 📸) … but yeah, Earthbound and Mother 3 are both masterpieces that I will always cherish. This fan made game looks so damn good! Is it complete? I’d love to even just watch a play through of it. Amazing job to the game devs.
They should not have changed the project. They made too many unnecessary concessions. There is no legal basis for cease & desist threats for a non-commercial project. They should've just stuck with the original plan and followed thru.
@Lucas Klaus the game isn't even real tbh, the leaked beta shows that these were a bunch of scripted battles and progress was barely made, and about the copyright, well they couldn't get a strike since Itoi owns 50% of the series and needs to be contacted first
@Lucas Klaus that's because the game isn't even a real thing, the build just was a bunch of scripted battles with no collision detection while at the same time, they had lot of infighting mostly coming from pastelian being jealous of undertale and other mother inspired indies

As excited as i was for this game, I'm kinda glad it got overhauled. That last clip was very clearly the final boss, and they deliberately spoiled it. Not a good sign for a game dev to just casually do that.

@@EchoGulch64 To me, the fact that an indie dev team so small screwed up badly enough to even GET leaked speaks volumes about them. I know the Modern Men are supposed to be their Starman equivalent. I'm saying i wouldn't put it above them to show too much about the project while its too soon (and slighty rename a random mook for the final boss, for that matter). You could say that the rebrand got in the way, but according to them, almost a decade ago the game was ~74% done. Rebranding shouldn't have set the progress bar back down to 0%. Also, i cross checked the 4chan leak just now with the Oddity trailer and it turns out my hunch isn't that far off. The final boss for the game post-rebrand is shown there too. It's the tall spire with the green blob on it. Incredible.
