Another one of my favorite bands, Blackberry Smoke, is the same way. For a lesser-known band, our mighty and dedicated BBS fans sing all the words for their 2-hour show. The same thing happened at Rush concerts. Rush fans are almost a little too vocal and loud. 30k fans singing Tom Sawyer is damn loud...but fun!!
@Poisonous Nut Keith Richards says after 1965 the Stones didn't have to work hard because the audience knew all their songs. The only good thing I've ever read about Axl Rose was his desire to tour before an album dropped because he wanted the crowd to have t listen to the songs.
I read a comment (many years ago, mind you) by one music critic who said, "Eddie Vedder is one of the few hard rockers who can write about women without sounding like an idiot."
well the guy is a nice person and has respect for other people..... and that's exactly what a lot of so called rock stars lack, if they have respect for anything, it's just for themselves
Must be absolute heaven for any artist out their. When you start your song live on stage, you sing half a line and the whole crowd takes over and sings the song for you. Goosebumps.
The point, Dublin Ireland, Betterman. You wanna talk about goosebumps, watch the song too, when the strob lights come on, look at how the whole place is bouncing, as they sing the song. Eddie didn't get a word in the whole song. Usually he takes over at some point, they wouldn't let him.

you can just see how much this song means to Eddie and the band, look at his face at 1:17 you can see the happiness in his smile knowing that everyone in the crowd is singing his song that he wrote for his mother!
I would have absolutely lost my shit if a crowd that size sang my song like that. That would make me cry. There's nothing like the feeling of accomplishment. I'm sure that was amazing to Eddie and the whole band.
WOW this came out of nowhere! I didn't expect to hear such clarity and passion from the audience, and Eddie was clearly overwhelmed. I didn't even realize what was happening and tears were in my eyes. What a crowd!
You can't see it too well, but he was crying too. That's how overwhelmed he was. This is just so wonderful. I think this happens each time they do Better Man. It's beautiful.
The point, Dublin Ireland, watch and listen. He didn't get a word in the whole song, and when the lights come on when the song picks up, just watch the crowd, they are all hopping up and down, hands in the air, singing their lungs out. The best crowd version I've ever seen.
I was fortunate enough to be at this show. This song was surreal. Hearing the crowd sing the opening verse was a moment I'll never forget. The crowd was so intense the entire stadium was shaking. I was at the 300 level behind the stage... That's how intense it was. Pearl jam is the most incredible band.

Thank God for you Eddie Vedder, the only surviving 90’s grunge rock God to still draw breath. Eddie Vedder, you are truly loved. Songs just like this one is absolutely one reason I survived the great disfunction that permeated my early life. This song pretty much parallels my situation at home too. Brutal stepfather festered an already infected & damaged kid. Drugs were the best thing that ever happened to me. And at that time they were, you see they became my defense and coping mechanism. It’s just the damndest thing that a person can already have so many marks against them not even out of the womb. Indifference to a child’s pain and neglect to their needs is deconstruction of the soul, slowly chipping away at the conscience, it’s dimming fire never burning brighter than at its conception.
(Set the scene) 20 years ago, I was 10 years old. My brilliant brother and I used to share a bedroom, most nights he would put Pearl Jam on and here me out for a second, I couldn't stand it, as a 10 year old I didn't understand it. This reaction from the crowd must be a unique amazing feeling for the artists who performed.... this live performance from Pearl Jam is one of a kind..... perfectly performed with this unique powerful voice of Eddie Vedder....!!!!!!!!!
I am at the beginning of Gen X...so PJ was a little "after my generation", but I loved them in my 20s. I've been revisiting them again, I'm 53 now, I just really can't believe how talented they were. I wish I saw them Live at the Garden♥️

+PerrezDD , I am doing a psychology experiment on Physiological changes to the body. When i first seen this video i felt the vibes from the crowd at this concert in New York, i would like to ask you, can you describe the feelings you had at this concert?
I've been listening to pearl jam since the beginning and i still cant believe how strong the relationship is with fans. Seeing on stage is a must do, you'll never get out sad of a pearl jam show. It's warm, conforting.
That smile to the audience says it all. I can't wait to see them in September at Sea Hear Now, I will sit in front of that main stage overnight if I have to.
There's gotta be no greater feeling in the world than when you get a crowd of that size to sing your song back to you in perfect unison. Absolutely beautiful.
This song was with me when I was 17 and I couldn't find a better man,and this song and Pearl Jam is with me 30 years later and I have found my best man.. and PJ is still with me and I still love them! It's great getting old with Pearl Jam❤️
just goes to show what happens when u make good music.its eternal and it passes down through the decades and it doesn't fade away unlike the crap we are fed with these days.
The most beautiful voice ever. I search for his voice every time I am feeling down. Thank you for the beautiful voice and lyrics and making me feel good.
This song means so much to me. I was in a bad relationship when it was released. "She lies and says she still loves him, can't find a better man.". It took me another 4 yrs but I finally left. This performance is electric! Wow. I saw them at MSG, I believe it was in 2006. They played Porch towards the end and the whole place went nuts! I appreciate in this video even though there were cell phones in 2010, people were still raising lighters up at concerts

Just saw them at Hyde Park London, out of this world , my daughter , niece, and nephew left me all alone to get a better view at the front , unintentially , had the best time , could have bagged a toyboy but there was only one man, Eddie , and he sang Black , worth every penny to hear this ❤️

05-05-09... 7:30am, 2 blocks from my house... driving down the street, listening to this on the radio, singing at the top of my lungs, happy as can be.... some guy decides to run a stop sign, crashes into me and totals my car. I was ok, physically, but ever since, have not been able to listen to this song without getting majorly bummed out. .... But, I find this, and feeling the energy, the happiness, the absolute beauty of thousands of people... in that moment, all as one... wow! Love it! Makes me smile. That look on Eddie's face... sigh... amazing.
I remember watching the real debut of Pearl Jam Unplugged on MTV(Back when they played music) It was the beginning of the change in music to alternative/grunge and was amazing. I put it on the VCR(look it up) and eventually burned the tape up. It remained lost until the special edition with the Unplugged DVD. At least that won't wear out. Thank You Pearl Jam for decades of memories.
I fell in love with this song when I first listened to it, and I still get goosebumps from it. Hard to believe it's been nearly 30 years. It's a sad song, but it manages to end on a slightly hopeful note, that has always spoken to me.
This makes me cry, WOW!! BEAUTIFUL ❤️ What a audience WOW!! Could you imagine how it made Eddie feel and that smile oohhh my goodness!! I LOVE PEARL JAM FOREVER!! 😊🤘✌️❤️
You know you've made it when the audience sings the entire first verse and chorus for you.

Fuck yea! Eddie rocks!!
He wrote this for his mother. Can you imagine how he must've felt, listening to that crowd, sing his semi-tribute to his mother? So moving. Wow.
not so semi-tribute to an asshole step-dad
Did he write it for his mother, or did he write it about 'the prick who married my mother". They were Eddie's words about his step father.
@@scrotrot1595 written ABOUT the prick that married his momma
I’ve seen them live at msg during the vitalogy tour. They’re amazing and so is Eddie.
Well,l always thought of my husband when l 1st heard this song and l still do
When the entire crowd sings every one of their songs word for word, you know they are brilliant. You can’t find a better band then Pearl Jam.

If I could be anyone in the world for a day I would be eddie vedder and just sing to myself all day.

My love & respect for Eddie Vedder & Pearl Jam is endless, that is one of the best renditions I have yet to hear.
So awesome. I need to go to one of their concerts!
***** Are you serious? I think it's so awesome. But you do have to realise that's the last song during the concert so he's tired out
they just released the tour dates for next year
+al pacino u r stupid
+Marco Rivas I hope you can go, I was there when they came to Colombia and it was amazing.
Times are changing.Vedder has changed. From bad to better and finally THE GOOD.MATURITY.SERIOUS ME.
This is one of the best live performances I’ve ever heard
That smile to the audience says it all. I can't wait to see them in September at Sea Hear Now, I will sit in front of that main stage overnight if I have to.
How was the concert?
Hello beautiful,my heart tells me you’re so beautiful more than the morning sunshine ☀️
Made me cry when eddie played the guitar for the crowd.. a soft touch of love betwen the performer and the audience.. and eddie's smile.. 🥲
just goes to show what happens when u make good music.its eternal and it passes down through the decades and it doesn't fade away unlike the crap we are fed with these days.
The most beautiful voice ever. I search for his voice every time I am feeling down. Thank you for the beautiful voice and lyrics and making me feel good.
When Eddie stopped singing and let the fans take over.... goosebumps 🖤
Even the film editing of the two different shows is excellent -synced perfectly.
This song is so epic that its literally changing the hairstyles of the band
Fuck, that was great. Been listening to these guys for 27 years.
Eddie sings such amazing songs! No you can't find a better man, or singer. A true legend ❤🎉
Mr. Vedder and his musical colleagues must sleep each night with the knowledge that they have brought joy to many.
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day.. Stay Safe!
One of the best all time live performances of one of the best songs of all time. God Bless Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder
Just saw them at Hyde Park London, out of this world , my daughter , niece, and nephew left me all alone to get a better view at the front , unintentially , had the best time , could have bagged a toyboy but there was only one man, Eddie , and he sang Black , worth every penny to hear this ❤️
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe.
This song always makes me think of New Zealand. It was playing on the airplane radio when I went there on a trip in 2000. Such a great song.
0:20 Eddie realizes (again) he and his band are Legends in their own time!
That look on Eddie's face... sigh... amazing.
I must say you have such an amazing and captivating smile
Ed supposedly wrote that song in high school. Played it with Bad Radio, carried on with PJ, still relevant today. What fucking talent.
Really? That’s amazing!
Brings tears to my eyes every time I look at this! Song and band of a generation!
Pearl Jam is special and we are lucky to have!
Goosebumps seeing the audience sing so beautifully.. Music truly can unite.
This is one of the greatest songs of all time
