The purpose of the soundboard audio is to drown out the crowd....so you can hear the performance better. I was at this show in Detroit....it was amazing and the crowd response was incredible. One of the last shows at Joe Louis Arena...it was an epic night! And, as you know, Chad is from Detroit...he spoke at the end of the show on his love for his hometown.....beautiful show, and as far as sitting..no one was sitting...I dont see that in this video. Lots of RHCP love!! :)
Second that I was there too. The crowd was electric. Across the board the best concert ever.

I think the reason Josh gets criticized is he can kind of play in the background sometimes, but now hes proving he can take charge and be more of a lead guitarist which is great.

This might sounds dumb but do they just normally freestyle the intro jam or have they rehearsed before
Their Intros are rehearsed or outlined, so I've heard and also viewed from their discussions about "Jamming" However I would say more of their end jams are more improvised.

Hoenstly I like josh a lot, I really have only one tiny issue, and that's his back up vocals aren't as good as furciante, but I think he's a good guitar player and fits well
zeusja12 he has a more broken voice i feeling it suits the new stuff
zeusja12 Josh's voice isn't suited for the stuff Frusciante made. Plain and simple. His stuff will only sound great with his voice. I like Josh's vocals on the stuff he made himself though.
